Greekfest Ratings and Reviews
Hadn't been to the restaurant in a while. Very disappointing. We ordered a bottle of Wine from the wine list. It was not the same label as listed. It was a dark yellow instead of almost clear and the vintage was 2011. It tasted like fermented apple juice. The waiter brought us a different bottle, not on the list which was drinkable. The appetizer plate for 4 was tiny. The swordfish was in small pieces thin and dry. The lamb was hard and dry. The rice and eggplant were barely warm. The restaurant had a few tables occupied so the kitchen wasn't busy. With so many good Greek and Middle Eastern restaurants around, we won't be back.
Outstanding! A true delight! it was quiet, the owner came to greet us, the food was delicious and a definitive home touch to it, the garcon was courteous, clearly explained the available options and had a good sense of pairing when it came to greek, californian & french wines.
Excellent authentic food choices and exceptional service.
Server provided recommendations, asked about food requirements, and answered our questions. Checked if we had a time schedule and made sure we were out on time while keeping the pace leisurely.
Found this gem a few years ago and have been back multiple times. Always a great experience.
Food was very good and service was amazing. One of the few places you go that the staff makes you really feel that they appreciate you choosing their restaurant. Went for dinner with a couple friends and had a wonderful time.
We were a family of 8 meeting in Phoenix on the 10th anniversary of the helicopter collision that took the life of our son. We were also celebrating two birthdays . . . one on the next day and one in 4 days. I don't think the waiter took us seriously when we said it was a birthday so mentioning it became a joke and we mentioned it every time he came to the table. We have eaten here before and the food is good.
We had a weekday dinner and ordered four tapas to share among two people and a couple of drinks each. The total bill came out as $100, which is somewhat pricey for what we had. While none of the dishes was terrible, they were all mediocre at best. The best was the appetizer sampler with some good roasted eggplant mousse. The gyros was just lukewarm (badly warmed up, that is) and pretty tasteless. The tomatoes in our salad were really bland and tasteless. And the grilled octopus was just ok. Overall this is was a disappointing experience.
My friend and I really enjoyed the beautiful décor of the restaurant the food was wonderful, and the server and the owners were very friendly . We would tell our friends and family about this hidden jewel. It was our first time to have Greek food but it won't be our last. Thank you, Nancy
Greekfest has been a favorite of ours for several years. The staff is excellent and makes you feel welcome the minute you walk in the door. We love that the owner always makes a point to come to our table and visit at the end of the meal. The food is delicious and we love having a special night and this cozy restaurant.
We returned for our third time to Greekfest and our experience has been great each time. We received wonderful personal attention from our waiter as well as a lovely visit from Luanne the owner. We couldn't ask for tastier food or a more relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. We will definitely be returning!
My husband an I had the pleasure of stopping into this little gem while on business/vacation in Arizona. Albeit, it was late and a quiet night, just after Mothers Day, we had a wonderful meal and fantastic service. My husband has various food allergies that can make dinning a bit tricky sometimes. Dwayne and Sue completely put us at ease, but ensuring that every morsel of food that came to our table met his needs. Even better, we never felt like it was a hassle or our dinner was compromised. This looks like a fun restaurant during busy hours, and we did see a piano for live entertainment although that was not available on a weeknight. Thank you so much for a delicious dinner and fabulous attention
Amazing authentic Greek food! Have lived in the area for about 15 years now and always drove past it thinking it was a cultural center. Needless to say, after finally going, I have a new favorite restaurant! Such charming decor and amazing authentic food! The owner was adorable and a server was super accommodating and took the time to explain some of the Greek dishes that were new to us. The tzatziki was the best I have ever had and the octopus was also delicious- and better than I have had at many much pricier places in the valley!
We were pleasantly surprised by our experience at Greekfest. Being from Chicago, we missed being able to go to Greek Town, but how wonderful to have such a great and authentic Greek restaurant close to our neighborhood. Everything, from the pita, to the calamari, to the souvlaki (I had chicken, my husband had lamb) to the baklava was delicious. The owner and chef, Susan, came out to meet us and we had a wonderful chat. We will definitely be back!
Good Food. Waiter was pushy and commanding. Asked about wine, 1st bottle he flat out said they did not have and said the wine list was not accurate. 2nd bottle was taken out back and opened. Brought back and said cork "was solid". Wine was bad and we declined it. 3rd bottle he had recommended from the beginning was actually not that bad. Food is very good, but not enough for the prices they charge. This is not a fine dinning place to command those prices. Had not been to it for24 years and now we know why. Definitely will never go back
Sadly, our high hopes for a wonderful meal were dashed. The pita bread was warm and delicious but the chicken avgolemeno soup came without any chicken and was thick and bitter. This was followed by grilled swordfish that was extremely tough. The chicken souvlaki was tasty, but the portion very small and the sides were adequate. Wine and drinks were served in very small glasses. Decor in the place is wonderful and the owner came around and is very friendly. Maybe the cook was having a bad day. Have been to a lot of Greek restaurants and this one pales when compared to experiences at other places.
New to the Phoenix area , we have been looking for a good Greek restaurant for our weekly dining , this place isn't it . A very quiet atmosphere as we were the only party in the restaurant at 7:30 pm. Being Greek and having been to Greece, I guess we are a bit spoiled for authentic good Greek food. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, maybe the regular cook off that night but the food was fair. The eggplant side dish WAY over cooked . The rice was undercooked and overseasoned. The lamb was cooked well but again overseasoned.
Our waiter was attentive. The hummus appetizer was good and the pita bread warm.
Living on the West side of the valley, we don't see ourselves going back. Not worth the drive.
This was our fourth visit to Greekfest (three dinners and one lunch). We have found each to be excellent experiences. On this visit we had traditional ouzo, saganaki, pita and hummus for starters followed by Gyros Taverna and Pastitsio with Galaktoboureko Chios for dessert -- all superb. The waiter was efficient, attentive, and definitely knowledgeable about the menu. For example, when he discovered I liked retsina, but my wife did not, he suggested we have glasses of wine rather than a bottle so that she could have roditys. The ouzo was the best we have had anywhere - including Chicago's Greektown. The waiter noted that the owner, Tony, has contacts in Greece who provide the excellent wines, etc. We are looking forward to our next visit to Greekfest!
Wonderful atmosphere, attentive service and great Greek food. We particularly liked the Mezzas - small meals that allow you to sample and share a variety of items and tastes. Their pita was warm and fluffy, the tzatziki was excellent and the mousaka was incredibly savory. Gyro meat was like nothing you ever had from a quick-food joint; it was satisfying and very meaty. And...this is one a the ew restaurants (even Greek) that has Roditis (Greek rose wine).
First their sign was obscured from the road. Each corse of the meal was sub par for even the lowest quality Greek restaurant. The waiter we had was not knowledgeable of the food, and three of our first picks for apps and entrees was out on a Friday night at 7:30. Although, the decor was pretty good .
