Greek Taverna - Edgewater Ratings and Reviews
Our waitress was very informative, pleasant, attentive and made us laugh. The food was absolutely delicious! I am very particular about my seafood and the shrimp souvlaki and Solomon were cooked to perfection with wonderful flavor! Will definitely be returning to try out more menu items!
Had a lovely meal at Greek Taverna. Food was excellent . Four of us were able to share a large Greek salad. The salad was fresh and had large chunks of feta. Two of us shared a shrimp gyro that was enough for two. While we would have liked to sit outside, the lack of shade made it less desirable so we ate in the air conditioned inside which was very pleasant.
The place was quite noisy and not well suited for a date or special occasion.
The food was very average, especially for the price. The grilled fish special, bronzino, was satisfactory but at $30.00 overpriced for the type of restaurant. We also had the lamb shank which was highly recommended but it was not moist and tender as the waitress promised.
We also had the grilled octopus but this was rubbery. Overall the restaurant was average. It is somewhat pricey for what you get.
The food is great. Nice place. Only complaint is we ordered seafood appetizer they said was for 2. It was bigger than my main course. The price was $25. This is more expensive than most of the meals. Sneaky way to hit the customer with a larger bill. Otherwise great.
We eat at Greek Taverna at least once a week in summer. The thought of enjoying fresh fish, great Greek salads, fabulous and healthy side dishes - and have them prepared like home cooked without the cleanup - is irresistible! Plus, the staff is friendly and helpful! Like dining with your favorite relatives, every dish we have ordered has been excellent.
LOVE this place! This is like our kitchen table outside of our own home. It's the place we go when we want to feel like we're family away from home. And this place always delivers. Anna is our favorite server and she is amazing. Always take her suggestions because she knows the selections, the cooks, the options, and US! I highly recommend this particular Taverna. It always makes us want to return to Greece.
We went with 3 families including children, so we were a big group, and still the service was smooth and efficient. Everything was pretty good, the beet salad was very flavorful, the tzatiki, hummus, and other dips were good but not outstanding. I ordered grilled salmon which was ok but not great. Grilled meats were better.
We have gone to this restaurant a number of times, this is the first time we have had such a disappointing time. The restaurant was empty, granted the snapper took a very long time to prepare, but our server did not come back to us to see if we wanted anything, not even more water. He stood by the counter talking to his coworkers, eating and not even looking over at us. He had to filet the fish, it was done very poorly, just all over the plate. My husband said it was tasteless. My chicken was very dry . The potatoes, we did not even try because of its appearance.
When we told the waiter about the long wait, he just said oh.
We have been coming to Greek Taverna a couple of times over the past 6 years and were always pleased with the food, service and the ambiance.
This time was not different!
I recommend the Salmon wrapped in grape leaves...
The only disappointment was that they again did not have the Greek Yogurt for desert... -suggest removing it from the menu as it's never available...
