Greek Brothers Oyster Bar & Grill Ratings and Reviews
It has been years since my husband and I have eaten at Greek Bros. El Campo. We always have loved their food and had a free night away from the kids so we decided to take the drive. It was Monday July 3rd. We looked on the website to make sure they weren't closed for the Holiday. The website didn't show anything about being closed. We also made reservations online and received a confirmation email. We drove 40 miles one way just to pull up to a CLOSED restaurant!
Greek brothers is a famous local favorite. To our surprise they offered chips and salsa. I was disappointed in the alcoholic drink choices and lack of a drink menu but our waitress was very nice. I'm sure going when there is live music would be great! They did have some menu items not found in the surrounding area so it was nice to get something different. We will definitely give it another go another day.
So I have to say I am disappointed in our experience. we were expecting a little more compared to some of the usual places we go.
we were greeted in a friendly manner and we were seated quickly at the table of our choice.
The drinks came in a reasonable amount of time and we ordered our dinner and appetizer. that's when the trouble started.
They forgot to bring our appetizer. It came after they had already served the main course. The manager came by and apologized and said they would take it off our bill. Of course they didn't, and I had to remind the waitress. I ordered grilled salmon which was supposed to be served with rice. They served it on a bed of mashed potatoes, no rice. Never seen that before. The fish was cooked well and tasted good, so I have to give them credit for that.
The appetizer was oysters Rockefeller but I've never seen it a prepared in such a manner. I think it had cabbage or something on it .
My wife had the fried shrimp normally they're butterflied but this was like a tube of shrimp.
So it wasn't terrible but it wasn't great and if I'm going to spend that kind of money I'll probably drive into Richmond or Sugar Land. I live in Wharton
First time at Greek Brothers. Great seats for Kyle Park. No Chance was good and kyle park was amazing. We definitely will be back and will bring a group of friends. I have shared with friends the great date night we had. Next time I reserve, I am going to ask for the Presidential seating.
My husband and I go to Greeks when we want to get away from the city and enjoy a nice dinner. Typically we go when there's a concert we'd like to see, but this time we visited just to have a nice quiet dinner. The waitstaff was excellent and the food was good and the drinks were strong. All good things. We always enjoy going to Greeks.
The food and service were pretty good. However, I did not realize a band would be warming up during our dinner. I had booked a reservation with some out of town family, and the band in the background made it very hard to "catch up" with the family. I would go again, but for the music - probably not the best spot to visit with friends or family.
Also, our open table reservation did not get sent to the restaurant. Luckily, they had room for us. I'd recommend calling the restaurant and not using the Open Table reservation site.
Positives....The food was good....Our server and everyone we crossed paths with was very nice.
Negatives.....The price point was high.....If we pay these prices we expect excellence and we didn't get it......The server was unaware one of our choices was out and, after recommending it, she had to come back and make us change our order (I do not think it was her fault, it's likely management failed).......she made a mistake on which side dish I ordered.....the table was sticky. I didn't want to set my silverware on it.
We were seated and given menus. After a long wait the server took our drink orders.
Our server then went to a table who just came in, took their drink orders went and brought out their drinks, took their food order, brought out their salads and we still did not have our drinks,
or have our order taken. The other table had their food before they took our order.
When our food came out, they placed the food and never came back to see if the food was cooked the way we ordered it.
The chicken fried steak was burnt on the edges and over cooked.
They didn't come back to refill our drinks.
When you spend almost $150.00 for lunch you should have better food and service.
The server was not friendly, she acted like we were a bother to her.
When she brought the check it had a 18% tip on it.
I asked for the manager and told him I would not give this amount because of such poor service. He told me the were just overwhelmed and was sorry for the bad service.
He took the tip off, and told me to leave what I wanted.
The food, and service is not worth the price they charge.
Loved Blanche's Seafood Gumbo!
I was expecting a nice crust bread, so I wasn't excited to see the chips and salsa plopped on the table. However, the salsa had a great kick that kept us scooping. So, who needs bread?
Portions were generous and prices exceptional. The hubs had mahi mahi and I had the tuna--both were grilled perfectly.
We were traveling, so couldn't hang around for the evening entertainment, but would recommend to for anyone passing through. It's definitely worth taking the exit into El Campo to experience a venue with rustic charm and tantalizing food.
Food was cold, we were seated by waitress station and waiters and waitresses horseplayed the whole time bumping into our booth and acting like 9 year olds. I took my wife out for a nice evening and regretted our choice as we drove 40 miles to eat here. Lesson learned
My daughter and I met here for my birthday, and we enjoyed our evening very much. We shared the Shrimp Cozumel and it was delicious, and then ordered the NY cheesecake for dessert, and the server came out with a lit birthday candle. I thought that was very sweet of her. Of course, I had a few glasses of Cabernet with my meal, and it was great, too. This is a very neat place, for a romantic dinner, an evening out with friends, or a dinner with your family. Try it, you'll like it.
I had the dijon chicken....excellent, but TOO much cheese, The oil from the cheese swam on my plate. My husband had the chicken fried steak and it had too much batter making the steak larger than it was.
The salads were sad. The greens were warm not chilled. Half of slice of red onion and one grape tomato!
We will definite come back.
Unique and interesting atmosphere! Nice salad choices that were very fresh. Sautéed mushrooms to die for! They were excellent and the crusty toasted bread slices that came with them were a great touch! Ahi tuna that melted in your mouth with grilled veggies and rice. No room for dessert. A lovely and very enjoyable meal!
There was a birthday party going on in the main dining room, so it was loud and energetic. Would have liked to have set in the bar area, it was much more quiet. I was in the middle of eating my salad when my entree arrived. Overall I felt like we were rushed and pushed to get through.
Greek Bros consistently offers an above average experience in an out of the way location. You don't really expect to find such a place in El Campo. Greek Brothers manages to mix well together all aspects of a bar, entertainment venue and a restaurant. The food especially is above average in both quality and notably quantity. Congrats to Matthew and the rest of the team there - keep up the good work!
