We are frequent patrons of Great Plains. We ALWAYS have a fantastic dining experience. Chef Ben has done a phenomenal job of reworking the menu as well as rotating through some fantastic main dish specials both seafood and steaks. Whenever possible, Chef Ben makes the rounds to personally greet the guests and is open to any comments. While everyone offers great service, we always request Steve as our server. Steve is absolutely AMAZING and always provides the very best of service with enthusiasm and a great disposition! This is one of our very favorite spots for dinner!

My friends and I eat here every time we have concert tickets at the Star Pavillion. Food and service and cocktails are always excellent! I recommend reservations. A little pricey but worth it!

Our reservation through Open Table was scheduled for 7:15 as we had concert tickets for 8:30. Since we had never been to the Ameristar, nor this restaurant, we arrived early (6:45) and asked if we could be seated. We were accommodated with an early seating and finished our meal at 8:20, just in time for the concert. We would have been late had we waited til 7:15 for our original reservation.

We had an appetizer, salad, and then our entree. The food was excellent but service seemed somewhat slow. The restaurant was busy in our section but not crowded. I ordered my steak medium well and it was very much medium, if that. Fortunately, the flavor was superb so the "undercooked" request was fine. Just be advised if you want your steak done to order WELL DONE!

Our waitress was attentive but was constantly saying to us and others that our food should be right out. Apparently, the kitchen is a bit slow. That being said, the food was well worth the wait and we had an enjoyable evening.

This was my pick when my dad asked to treat me & my husband for my birthday; it came highly recommended from a friend, and it was a wonderful experience! Such great food! We started with refreshing Moscow Mules and a bread basket w/ various textures including a yummy & delicate cracker, my favorite. For the rest of our meal we ordered:

{Appetizer} Campfire Shrimp - applewood bacon wrapped shrimp, garlic whipped potatoes, crispy fried potatoes...SO good and highly recommend!

{Soup du Jour} Cream of Asparagus - just okay

{Salad} House Salad (subbed w/ mixed greens instead of iceberg) - my dad & I chose this option and it was served family style; it could have easily fed all 3 of us!

{Entree #1} Braised Beef Short Ribs - w/ crispy onions, sweet potato puree, baby carrots, & asparagus - my choice & so delectable!

{Entree #2} Cajun Glazed Meatloaf - w/ garlic whipped potatoes, jumbo asparagus & cajun glaze sauce - meatloaf was a bit dry but glaze was fantastic!

{Entree #3) Prime Rib w/ Mixed Wild Mushrooms - prime rib was so tender and mushrooms were perfectly prepared.

We spent over two hours here. Our server was super accommodating and my birthday dessert was on the house =) We will most definitely be back to try more of their offerings!

I have been here several times and this is the first time I was a little disappointed. The service was not as good as usual and the food was not up to par. I usually rave to everyone about the food and service but not this time.

I typically love this restaurant but Valentines dinner was extremely rushed, set menu with no taste and still 140$. We received the appetizer and salad 2 min apart and the entree 2 min after that :( won’t be back

We were attending a show there at Ameristar and because it's Restaurant Week we decided to go to Great Plains Cattle Co for dinner before the show. The food was very good, the service was only OK. She didn't see to be as interested in us as she was in other tables where there were guests that dine there frequently, obvious from overheard conversations. I asked for part of my dinner to be boxed and she tossed the box on the table for me to do it myself, after I observed her carefully box the leftovers for the table next to ours. All guests, regardless if they are repeaters or first timers, should be treated the same. We're not sure if we would come back to this restaurant.

Went for restaurant week and had a great 3 course meal. Will be back for a bigger order of crabcakes for sure! The soup and risotto were both too salty, but still tasty. Loved the dessert trio!

We ate here for KC restaurant week. The diver scallops with Rissoto was exceptional. Great bartender as the cocktails were perfect. The best part of our experience was the service, from hostess through waiter and runners. We hadn’t been there for over a year but will be returning very soon!

Set menu for Restaurant Week was good, but we ended up seated by the bar. Staff were courteous, but not as attentive as hoped for. Not the treatment we would expect from an expensive steakhouse. All of the food was well-prepared and high quality. Really enjoyed my scallops! The crusted steak was good, but didn't need the topping. The little desert sampler trio was great!

Convenient place to eat before concerts or activities at the Ameristar Casino. Very good food and the service was a little slow but adequate. We were going to a concert at the Casino and it was very easy to eat here beforehand. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

The steaks at GPCC are always very good. But the prices have really soared in the past few years, and are now ridiculously high. $45 for a 16 oz ribeye? The same thing at Texas Roadhouse is $21. Plus, GPCC has poor tasting bread, and they switched to leafy greens for the salads, which taste terrible. TR has great rolls and the best salads, with fresh iceberg lettuce. If TR wasn't so annoying noisy, I would never go to GPCC again.

A good date night restaurant. Arrived 20 minutes before our reservation, we were told to come back closer to the scheduled time, there was no space at the bar to wait. The service was very good with the exception of ordering a drink from the bar, there appeared to be only one person handling the rush and it took a very long time for the drink to arrive, I was well into my salad and appetizer before it arrived; the food was good quality, the KC strip was perfection, the filet mignon was undercooked but hubby and I traded plates and all was good, the red wine sauce reduction did not compliment the filet mignon, I would recommend you order it on the side to taste unless you've had it before otherwise, it overpowers the meat. The $2 tiny desserts are perfect for a sweet taste, they are a good way to end the meal. Overall, we enjoyed our first visit.

Great place for Prime Rib. Always a good amount of food, cooked to perfection. Sides of salad and bread are delicious. And there is a great selection of extra sides that come with the meal. Baked potato is huge. Wild mushrooms are very tasty. Our server was not great but not awful. Slow to fill glasses and bring extra horseradish or salad dressing when asked. But still a great meal..
