Great Plains Cattle Company - Ameristar Casino Ratings and Reviews
Should be able to use casino cash at all times...ordered restaurant week menu and was told at time of paying no casino comps could be used...the restaurant cashes casino comps on a daily basis...meal was fine service was good.. went there before concert that night at the casino
Convenient place to eat before concerts or activities at the Ameristar Casino. Very good food and the service was a little slow but adequate. We were going to a concert at the Casino and it was very easy to eat here beforehand. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
The steaks at GPCC are always very good. But the prices have really soared in the past few years, and are now ridiculously high. $45 for a 16 oz ribeye? The same thing at Texas Roadhouse is $21. Plus, GPCC has poor tasting bread, and they switched to leafy greens for the salads, which taste terrible. TR has great rolls and the best salads, with fresh iceberg lettuce. If TR wasn't so annoying noisy, I would never go to GPCC again.
A good date night restaurant. Arrived 20 minutes before our reservation, we were told to come back closer to the scheduled time, there was no space at the bar to wait. The service was very good with the exception of ordering a drink from the bar, there appeared to be only one person handling the rush and it took a very long time for the drink to arrive, I was well into my salad and appetizer before it arrived; the food was good quality, the KC strip was perfection, the filet mignon was undercooked but hubby and I traded plates and all was good, the red wine sauce reduction did not compliment the filet mignon, I would recommend you order it on the side to taste unless you've had it before otherwise, it overpowers the meat. The $2 tiny desserts are perfect for a sweet taste, they are a good way to end the meal. Overall, we enjoyed our first visit.
Great place for Prime Rib. Always a good amount of food, cooked to perfection. Sides of salad and bread are delicious. And there is a great selection of extra sides that come with the meal. Baked potato is huge. Wild mushrooms are very tasty. Our server was not great but not awful. Slow to fill glasses and bring extra horseradish or salad dressing when asked. But still a great meal..
Once again the prime rib was amazing!!!! Never lets us down! The hour drive is sooooo worth it! The augrautin potatoes are awesome and we love the bread basket they bring out ahead of the meal! Not sure what the crispy bread is called, but it's our favorite! This place is a MUST in KC!!!
Great Plains is a consistently good steakhouse! I particularly enjoy dining during the early evening when it is not crowded and you get the undivided attention of staff. Food is always tasty and portions are generous. Wine list is pretty decent and I can typically get a glass of one of my favorite wines from the bottle list.
We went there for Valentine's Day. They had only two levels. A $50.00 and a $65.00. We both picked the $65.00. This came with salad, entree and dessert. We got the steak and scallop. It was suppose to come with a lobster mashed potato. It came with some Sweet potato stuff. Not that great. Then when it came to dessert. Wife had the chocolate cake which was suppose to come with ice cream. No ice cream. I am a diabetic so I ask if they had a sugar free dessert. They did not. They boxed up another piece of chocolate cake to go was their solution for this problem.
We have eaten there before from the regular menu and like it.
I would recommend that if you want to eat there DO NOT go on a holiday. It is really not worth what you receive.
Worst food I have ever had. We both got sick with the runs. Running to the bathroom. I want a full refund. What a rip off. Will be contacting the health department. Some much for a happy valentine's day dinner. Pre fixed food, cold, no flavor, and the gift that came within two hours later. Close this place. Now I know how come they had many open tables.
For the price point, we were simply not impressed.
We felt rushed like they needed the table for more important people. The service was very unpoised and crude, wait staff gave off an attitude like we were an inconvenience to them. The waiter we had never smiled, never greeted us, never offered any assistance throughout the hurried meal, and just felt like he would rather be jumping off a bridge into ice water.
The food was mediocre. The ribeye steak, priced at US$39.00 each, tasted like a $12.00 special at the Denny's. The braised short ribs, priced at $36.00, tasted like an $8.99 vacuum pack from the grocery store microwaved and tossed onto the plate.
Overall, this place is overrated and overpriced while under-delivered and disappointed us greatly. Not recommended and will not return even if you paid me.
This was a meal with three friends to catch up. Unfortunately, because of an event in the casino our dinner was a disaster. The salad and appetizer had not timing in between them and the steaks soon followed. My filet was wonderful as was my friend's but the ribeye the other person ordered was burnt when ordered medium and had no flavor. This is a steakhouse, so this is unacceptable. Waiter did not check on us and we had to flag a hostess down to grab a manager. The manager tried to make it right and ordered another ribeye. To our dismay when it arrived, once cut into it was raw. At this point my girlfriend had eaten some of her baked potato, salad, and calamari. She lost her appetite, so the manager did make it right and comped our entire meal, but asked my girlfriend if she wanted to take the raw steak home. Unfortunately, not sure we will ever come back.
Mid week night so found what I expected- which was quiet and not crowded or much bustle. While I typically seek out the fish/seafood specials tonight the Chilean Bass didn't strike my fancy- so I opted for the petite filet.
Christine was very attentive and scored big points with me when We discussed my glass of wine for the evening. I wanted a Cab and as I mused that I would love the Mondavi but that dining alone made no sense since it was sold by the bottle only, so I picked an alternate. She mentioned that she thought there may be a Mondavi open and to my delight came back with a glass! Score!
Now I almost always choose asparagus as my side, but tonight asked Christine for input to explore and expand my variety. She suggested the corn wheels (in a honey glazed I believe it was) and I thoroughly enjoyed them and may have them again with the salmon one night.
Christine is very knowledgeable and a great resource on their menu that I was glad to have for her recommendations this night.
Great meal and service! I will be back.
Quiet Sunday evening.
Great drink from the bar, (went old school with a Godfather tonight)
Salmon was perfect. Great portion and cooked to my instructions.
Service from staff was spot on.
Waiter Steve was all I could ask for to attend to my experience.
I will be back!
