Food was wonderful. Service was outstanding - just the right amount of attention. Very friendly but not intrusive.

Horrible service. Waited over 10 minutes for our coffee and water. Waited over an hour for our food. We had to point out that three tables of two each seated after us already had their food. Yes, we were a table of eight, but come on. Once food came, soup was not hot, mildly warm, yet tasty. French fries were cold. I will say the crab cakes were a huge hit, delicious, but could have been warmer. I think our food was ready long before our waiter served it. He seemed flustered and way over his head. We will not go the there again!

Meh....they ran out of prime rib despite us asking them to save us two slices when we arrived. The waiter rushed us through our meal and then more or less asked us to leave....I don't think I will be coming back.

Had not been here in a long time. I decided to go back and take my friend who has never been. The happy hour was pretty good. The food was outstanding. Service was truly great. Had a lovely time.

Took a business associate out for birthday lunch - food was very mediocre, which was surprising because we eat there regularly. I had the Great Northern Burger - which was very overcooked and the bacon was so burnt it was black.

Very bad experience.

Service is very slow, weird because the restaurant was not full. Food was certainly overpriced and not worth it. Baked mac and cheese, was bland. Calamari was over cooked and rubbery. Fried cheese curds...well only about half had actual chees inside, the rest were fried bits of breaking. Pot pie was decent.

I had the Cobb salad for $15. Basically it was "bagged" greens with a little bacon, chicken and avocado. One of the worst Cobb salads I've had. I haven't been there for awhile, chances are that I won't be going back.

Very nice restaurant, menu was varied, drinks were assorted, service was very good -perhaps because it was only Tuesday night?
The food was absolutely scrumptious, mouth-watering. I will be coming back soon.

We were seated and our waitress was off to the side cursing about something. She didn't take our order for awhile and then lost our ticket. We sat there waiting for an hour before she told us it was lost and said we would have to reorder. We left without being able to have lunch.

We have come here so many times for lunch and dinner and all has been good, but... this time for some reason it failed. It was my son's b
birthday so his girlfriend came with us . We ordered drinks and an appetizer. The waiter spilled tea on me and apologized so we moved on. We ordered lunch and my husband waited for his soup. He had ordered an entree salad as well so I would think the soup would come but when it did the tortilla soup was so thick it looked like chili. Our food came and the waiter dropped the small container of ketchup all over the floor and my husband feet. His salad was good . I had ordered grilled chicken with my salad and it was so dry and chewy that it tasted as if it was from yesterday and warmed up. My son's meatloaf was delicious he said but his girlfriend's pulled chicken sandwich had a 2 and 1/2 in bone in it. at which time she called it a day and took rest home. I barely had eaten my salad after the chicken taste and chewiness. I know you all have bad days but the place was dead and hardly anyone inside and a few tables outside. We will try again maybe in a month or so to get the memory out of our minds. Hoping it was just a bad food day.

The restaurant was very empty, yet everything moved at a snail's pace. It was hard to get drinks, hard to get refills, a bit slow on the food. We could see two of our plates complete and ready to pickup just sitting there while the other seven weren't done for another 10 minutes. This was not necessarily a BAD experience and the service was friendly and helpful, it was just very, very slow.

All was great except for the quality of the cushion in the booths. The cushions were old and worn down and lacked any spring. They were so uncomfortable that they unfortunately deterred from the dining experience.

This time the Peruvian rotisserie chicken was very good, not great as it usually is, but the patio is really nice, the beer is good and the wide assortment of vegetables and side with every entrée makes the Great Northern Tavern always a solid choice when you want a good, almost home cooked meal in a pleasant atmosphere.

Excellent, informed waiter. Food average, with 2 main dishes not available at 6:30 on a Saturday night. Restaurant eerily empty for at Sat. night.

On a Saturday at lunch time, restaurant was not crowded and we were seated at a nice table on the patio which was shaded by trees and very nice. Our service, however, was spotty to say the best. Our wait person got two of the five orders wrong, and the redo on one took waaaay too long. Food was just average for the price.

Service was okay, but the food was not very good. The Monte Christo sandwich was the best plate at our table. The pulled chicken sandwich had very large chunks of chicken. The crab cake eggs Benedict was disappointing. We requested runny yolks, but they were overcooked. The hash browns were not crispy and were covered with a thick layer of cheese. We will not be returning for brunch.

Sad whe the restaurant is almost empty and waiters walk by for over 10 min with not one asking if someone has helped. Finally one of them stops and says "we were arguing who had this table because no one knew" . That makes you feel so good. After that, he got another table behind us and was exceptionally attentive to them. I always enjoy this restaurant and I'll be back. Just get your waiters a list of tables before you open .

I've been to the Great Northern many times and have always loved it. On this occasion, though, it was terrible. After being seated without menus but at least given water, our party of 5 waited 20 minutes until I finally got up to tell the hostess we had no server. She said she would send one over as soon as she seated a new party. She did not. Ten minutes later, I went to the servers' station and asked if any of them knew who our waiter was and could they get him/her to come to our table. They had no clue but said they would find someone. Ten minutes later, a nice server started helping us, but she was over the top in calling us "sweetheart," "dear," "beautiful," etc., as if to make up for waiting for 40 minutes to order a drink and see a menu. We all ordered the ribs, which we always do, and finally they arrived, cold, after 30 minutes. A VERY disappointing night on the occasion of my mother's 89th birthday. Something was way, way off, that night.

Had reservation for 7pm. Arrived early and seated promptly. Waiter took drink and food order a few minutes later. We both ordered the Petite Filet Medium Rare. Drinks arrived and we waited for dinner. And waited. And waited. 50 minutes later the waiter agreed that the wait time was ridiculous. So a mere 15 minutes later we got our food. Sort of. Dry and cold mashed potatoes. Scorched/Burnt asparagus. And our "petite filets" were slabs of boot-leather-tough sirloin. Sirloin sold as filet which in most restaurants is tenderloin. Bait and switch. In fairness they comped the meal - I only ate a couple of bites - but they charged us for the wine. Stay away. Stay away. I'd sooner eat C-ration ham and mothers than go back to this joint.
