My mom and I were attending The Nutcracker at the Steven's Center on 4th street and chose Graze due to the menu on open table and the proximity to the theater. Honestly I was disappointed. The menu was not the same as what I viewed on open table. It is connected to the Marriott which was not desirable. We felt the food was very mediocre yet overpriced. The service was fair but we felt rushed. Overall would not recommend. Good location, though.
We went there for Thanksgiving so I cannot tell for other days. The buffet offered was abundant and very well presented, the staff was great. Food quality was good although maybe not for Foodies, but after all it was for Thanksgiving so it was meant for a large crowd of families and friends.
The restaurant was freezing, air vents directly aimed at seating area. Food was over cooked. Buns were burnt. Only one option for tea; earl grey. Service was adequate. Not the Graze experience I am used to. The restaurant was not busy at all. No excuse for a poor meal.
We were staying at the hotel and did not want to go out for the evening. Graze served as a most suitable evening. There was a wedding party and a large group of pretty loud folks in our immediate area, so the ambiance was fairly low and the energy level was extremely high. Don't know if that's normal or not. All in all, it was an excellent meal with great food and great service. Would do it again for sure.
I really enjoyed my meal, drink, and dessert. The ambiance was cozy, but modern. I was seated in a large semi-private booth with it's own television (and given a remote control). My waiter was attentive, friendly, and helpful without being overbearing. Everything was good, but the salmon I ordered was very fresh, seasoned nicely, and grilled perfectly. My dessert of coconut cake was some of the best cake I've ever eaten anywhere. I live in Maryland, and I'd drive back to Winston-Salem, NC for that salmon and coconut cake! I also loved the use of local and organic ingredients. I'll definitely try to visit Graze again. Thumbs up!
I booked a table at Graze because a friend was in town at a conference at the Marriott and that was the most convenient option. At least when we were there, the place was under-staffed and not handling the very light crowd well at all. We waited 5-10 minutes for someone to even come to the hostess stand, and that was after another patron tracked down someone. The food (I had a burger, the other three in my party had salads) was good, but service was s-l-o-w and most requests had to be repeated. No one appeared to be in charge. I would not go out of my way to dine there again because of the poor service.
With the exception of the trout - great flavors and presentation for Valentines menu. The lemon soufflé with Strawberries was quite original- trout was unimaginative and potatoes were undercooked (with trout) - the seared scallops on the parsnip purée was phenomenal.
Overall a nice place for dinner. Disappointed at the lack of attentiveness upon entry to restaurant. Sort of wandered around looking lost, was even told to "go over there " to speak to hostess even though we had a reservation. Ended up at hotel check in because I didn't know where "over there" was and the hostess was also busting tables so we didn't see her or the very small hosteas stand. The waiter was outstanding and helped make up for the rocky start.
Had our Thanksgiving dinner here. Surprised the restaurant is in a hotel. Buffet was good on variety but mixed on quality. The turkey was very good but the roast beef was tough. The potatoes, stuffing, cheeses, fruit, gravy, and relishes were good but the asparagus was bitter, the shrimp was under-cooked and wet, and the desserts were awful! The cakes were dry, the pumpkin pie over-spiced, and the other pie crusts were soggy. Granted this was a holiday meal and served on a buffet so our review is a bit unusual. We would not go back for Thanksgiving but might give Graze another chance for a regular dinner.
Food was WONDERFUL. However, we had a reservation for 2 pm and weren't seated until 2:15, and there were plenty of open table in the room we were finally seated in. Person standing at the host station when we arrived said she was just "waiting" there til the hostess returned. The table we we're seated at was really a table for four, and we had five in our party. No one offered to help my husband find another chair -- he just had to do it on his own. Also, the table was not clean, and tho we asked for it to be cleaned, it took so long, my husband had to clean it himself. Once we were greeted by our waitress, the service was fine.
Thanksgiving Buffet was great. Carving station with prime rib & turkey, YUM! Lots of healthy options, cheese station, fruits, casseroles, and if you mention gluten free they can assist you with options. Buffet had lots of great choices and the food was very good. Nice dining room section with private booths & tables. You have to ask for dining room rather than bar area where sports TVs are located. Great Thanksgiving buffet!!
This restaurant is located in the downtown Marriott, thus vey convenient for grabbing a quick bite when tired and not wanting to find the car in the lot across the street. The food was interesting and appears to be reasonably priced, unless you order something out of line with the listed items, like extra veggies ($8 per serving). Granted my husband's serving of broccoli was piled high! I had a fried chicken salad with the spicy ranch; it was very tasty although a few leaves very spent and the chicken piece was small. My husband had the country ham and sweet potatoes on flat bread; he thought it was very absolutely delicious. We shared a dessert of brûlée cheese cake that was nothing to write home about, probably commercial.Our bill was about $60 for a rather light meal. The restaurant is stocked with TV sets on sports channels.
Celebrated a birthday and it was a notable one! Staff was very friendly and forthcoming with suggestions. Food was classic yet tasty. The menu is seasonal so the ingredients were fresh and vibrant. We were literally the only people sitting in the dining area so it was not particularly lively. Overall a great experience!
I brought my daughter in law and 1 year old grand daughter here recently. My daughter in law was craving steak and a chance to get out of the house. We were seated promptly and our server quickly asked if we wanted to put an order in for the baby : )
My daughter in law had the Chili rubbed steak over grits. I had The Grilled Tuna over a summer salad. Both entrees were delicious and delightful in their presentation.
This is my fifth visit to this restaurant inside the downtown Marriott and it continues to overachieve. Whether for a fun family break or business dinner or a dinner with my spouse it has never let me down. It is not just another hotel restaurant!
PS the grand baby liked it too!
Was traveling and walked across the street from our hotel to Graze. It was not very busy at 8:30PM on a Thursday. Food was decent, service was solid, but it was not a nice ambiance. Almost as many TV's as a sports bar, and the volume was up enough on one to follow the plot of the (bad) movie. A really bizarre choice for a place trying to position itself as upscale dining. Also, we had fruit flies buzzing around our table! Got into my wife's wine. She got a free glass to replace it, but not happy about what it suggests about the cleaning!
Didn't realize this was at the Marriott when I made the reservation. Was concerned when I realized it, but was very pleased with meal and service. Colleagues also pleased with their meals. I'm not into deep fried fat, but the house made pork rinds were still sizzling when they hit the table (much to delight of one of my group).
We liked the restaurant and thought the food was a good value. The menu isn't huge, although the selection satisfied everyone, including our vegetarian. The only negative is it's located within the hotel. I travel often for business and had to pretend we weren't in yet-another-hotel-reastaurant. I don't not believe there's any affiliation with Marriott. It appears to be a stand-alone local restaurant renting space from Marriott.
The hostess who served us became our waitress and she was not happy about her job there. The restaurant was empty and they sat us by the door, which made us feel like we were eating inside the hotel rather than in the restaurant with people walking through the lobby. A very strange vibe. Food was passable.
We were so disappointed and completely mislead by the listing on Open Table.
There are too many choices in the area so pass on this one. It a hotel lobby restaurant and nothing special. Pleasant staff but the food was average at best. Great for room service.
