Beautiful experience with my beautiful wife. Everyone from the front door to the busboy were exceptionally nice and appeared to be honored to serve us.
Barry was awesome. We had a great experience
Service at the bar was super. Drinks good, food good. Very noisy. Hard to hear. Would eat here again.
Food and service were outstanding. Wonderful that they preserved the history of the building.
Great service ALWAYS! Great food ALWAYS! Great drinks too!!
We love Grays. Had a fantastic mother’s day meal. Our server was excellent. The reason for the four stars on the service is because before we even sat down, the host told us that the restaurant was booked tightly and basically to hurry up and not linger for too long. There were plenty of empty tables and the pace was fine. Luckily our server did not rush is at all. We will be back for sure.
Grays continues to meet our expectations! Staff is very accommodating, Friendly, and professional.
This was our first visit to Gray's, and it was all positive. We went to see/hear the two guitarists and have lunch. On a scale of 1-5, I
d give the service a 10 ! Even with the 2nd floor almost full, our servers, manager and every worker was friendly, efficient, and totally professional. And to top that off, the excellent food came out of the kitchen quickly and exactly as ordered. We will visit Gray's again.
We are so glad we discovered this gem of a restaurant on our brief visit during our road trip. Gray’s on Main embraces it’s building’s history in a charming way that extends beyond the decor into the amazing menu. I had the Pimm’s cocktail off their specialty cocktail menu and it was terrific. We had the bourbon glazed salmon which was delicious. The portion was perfect - not dainty like some higher end restaurants but not overwhelmingly large as in most American chains.
We had a pleasant experience for our business dinner.
Waitress was not very friendly and acted irritated because we had a 8:00 reservation. Last call came about 10 minutes after we sat down. Disappointing.
Gray's has been a must-stop any time I'm near Franklin since discovering it 8 or 9 years ago. It has never disappointed. I've introduced friends I've been traveling with and all have been impressed. Great atmosphere. Always excellent, consistent servers. The cocktails, if anything, have gotten better. And the food always pretty close to perfect.
This time it was a (as requested) medium rare pork chop for me while my girlfriend had the fried chicken. Both and all accompaniments were better than they needed to be to earn a great review. The pimento cheese balls.....yes.
Wonderful food and fabulous cocktail. Server was not as attentive as I would have liked (would have ordered another drink but he didn't return in a timely manner.) But the food and overall experience will still have me select this restaurant as the best in Franklin and I will go back.
Waiter was overbearing and touched customers several times.
Pre-dinner cocktails arrived just prior to salads.
Main course beverages arrived when course was nearly finished, despite advising waiter we were ready for the beverage order when main course arrived. Had to request silverware for dessert.
Short ribs were cooked appropriately but arrived barely warm.
Took my mom and friend here for a girls night. I always love their cocktails and food. The “Locked Door” is my favorite and is a must try for any whiskey drinker. We shared the pear pizza, Brussels sprout salad, and crab cakes as apps. My mom got the duo of duck. It was a nice contrast of moist breast and drier chewier confit. My friend got the shrimp and grits which was very different then a traditional dish. The yellow grits had a nice bite balanced with the creamy cheese, and acidity of the gravy and greens. Sweet potato ravioli was a wonderful balance of sweet and savory. The smooth sweet potato and crunchy pecans contrast was very a nice surprise. Portions are good size so I love having leftovers the next day.
I highly recommend the appetizer of figs wrapped in bacon, a hit with us. Since all three of us had the ribeye steak, I can't comment on the other current menu items. The steak was tender, flavorful, highly recommended. I like that Gray's changes their menu to suit the season. I also very much enjoy their weekend dinner entertainment - the musicians are all first rate and the styles vary. I've heard standards, jazz, bluegrass, and country from their stage. One of my favorite restaurants.
Matt & team are awesome.
My daughter and I visited Gray's on a Monday evening.
The service was good, handcrafted cocktails yummy, but the food was marginal.
The presentation was very nice, but the taste was nothing special, and it wasn't a cheap meal.
I would go back for a sit at the bar and a nice drink; may an app with it, but not a full dinner.
Great food! Want to go back for more and live music.
We had reservations and were promptly seated. The craft cocktails are very interesting and our choices were wonderful. Our waitress was very professional, the young man who brought the food out, however, was very abrupt, bordering on rude. We started w/the bacon wrapped figs. Very good! My husband had the short ribs and was not very impressed. He likes everything so I was surprised. They were "just okay". I had the trout w/black eyed peas. I love trout so enjoyed but it was not the best. We were a little disappointed....until dessert arrived. The banana pudding is to die for! Seriously good! My husband went for the brownie with peanut butter ice cream. He was very impressed. We would return for dessert!
My experience was great as always! The food and the service are perfect!
Fantastic Easter brunch for a small group. Great place for lunch or dinner out in the heart of Historic Franklin! If your visiting ditch your guidebooks and go where the locals go!
My husband, son, and I went on Easter and the food, the service, the live music were all excellent! Our server was warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and personable, giving us recommendations and the history of the establishment. All three of our food choices were enjoyed and our brussel sprouts appetizer was delicious. There was a jazz duo on stage and they were the perfect compliment to the atmosphere. We had not been there in a very long time and we plan to go back in the very near future. It was the perfect choice for our Easter lunch!
Easy reservation at the Gray’s On Main website. Upon arrival was greeted by a very friendly hostess. The waitress and waiter we had were very friendly and knowledgeable and the food was amazing!
Food and service was good. However we went there specifically for brunch, and they don’t offer a brunch menu. They do have one on their website. We felt very misled and disappointed. So while the food was good, It wasn’t the meal we were hoping for. Drinks too expensive.
Great time and enjoyed watching Jenn Bostic perform!!
An absolutely fantastic evening, with my Honey, and music to match.
Service was Superb and the food was Amazing!!
We had stated it was a special night, and were seated at a table in the middle of the loud floor. We reminded them of the special occasion and they moved us to a quieter booth.
The wait staff were knowledgeable and efficient. The meal was excellent and the dessert was chocolate bliss.
Excellent food and great service. The building has an interesting history.
We were looking for a place to have lunch in Franklin and stumbled upon Grays. What a pleasant surprise as the history, wait staff and entertainment made our visit a great experience. The salmon was great! We will definitely be back.
Did not like the menu all that much and was overpriced.
We actually had plans to go to Biscuit Love since it was new in Franklin but the line was out the door so on a whim we decided to go back to Gray's on Main. We had the perfect spot right underneath the sign upstairs. The sun was shining and it was a gorgeous spot to enjoy our wonderful meal.
This is an excellent restaurant. The cocktails are special, and we normally concentrate on wine. The food was also excellent. My wife was particularly fond of the brussel sprout salad, but our short rib and fried chicken entrees were also outstanding. The banana cream pudding was also wonderful. It was obvious to us that this restaurant cares about what they serve. The service was also excellent and the place itself is neat. If we visit Franklin again, we will be coming back here
Gray’s is one of my favorite restaurants in Franklin! The live jazz music upstairs on Sundays is the perfect reason to make it a weekly trip! The food is always delicious, the service is very friendly and kind, the music is quiet and peaceful. All around a great restaurants.
A 1:30 Sunday afternoon lunch for two. They sat us near the window next to the bar and it was lovely but rather loud .. some vocal folks at the bar ( as they tends to happen) so don't go expecting anything quaint. Hipster cocktails galore. My drink was good. The pimento cheese ball appetizer was delicious.. and then it went downhill. The shrimp and grits smelled so strongly of iodine that i couldn't eat it and switched for his chicken salad. That chicken salad was incredibly boring and bland. Both of these dishes I can make a better version of at home. Costco makes better shrimp and grits than this place. Seriously. The collards on the dish were cooked well..that's it. Even the sauce on the grit dish was was way too overpowering. Just a complete fail in my opinion.
1 beer, 1 semi fancy cocktail, 1 appetizer, 1 shrimp and grits and 1 chicken salad.. way over 60 bucks. We won't be back. Some of my pals from the area also agreed with me about the food. Heard they are opening another location nearby.. or expanding the current. Either way, I hope they get the food issues addressed.
Great night out to celebrate Valentine’s Day with my husband! We just moved to Franklin in the fall and haven’t gotten to go until tonight. Loved it! Charming and worth it!
Gray's has been our favorite place for four years. We plan our trips to stop even if it is 100 miles out of the way. Every meal we have had is exceptional, the drinks are imaginative, and the service is knowledgeable and fun.
Great atmosphere and the food was very good. Entertainment was a plus.
Our 20th wedding anniversary, what an amazing day! The staff and service were outstanding, the food and beverages were incredible!
Neat place in historic pharmacy.
