Gray's on Main
Visiting Franklin,TN we had heard about Gray’s on the web. They accommodated a later reservation when it became clear we’d have a late arrival. Excellent foot (amazing potato salad!) all around and perfect cocktails. Will definitely return on a future visit.
The new summer menu has arrived and is interesting. One of the people in the party had a hard time finding an entre that didn’t have dairy. The Chef may want to consider broadening alternatives for situations such as this.
The bartenders and waiters are all very nice and attentive but the food was lackluster and didn’t work well with each other. The drinks we ordered were mixed up and got each other’s mixer in our drinks a bourbon tonic was not the most appetizing great people but it was a little disappointing seeming like it’s the place to go to in franklin
The service at Gray's was slightly surly, but the excellent food made up for it. The bacon wrapped dates and the pimento cheese balls were a great start to the meal. The veggie plate was delicious. The brisket plate was very good. Our companions said the gumbo with grits was good.
Have been to your restaurant 5 times before. Quality of food has gone way down! Need to full menu available for Sunday
Gray's on Main is good place if you want a prohibition style cocktail or glass of wine. Their food and service however is very much lacking. Their prices are way to high for what you get and their menu is limited. After trying this restaurant a few times now, I can say that I am done giving it second chances. Don't waste your time or money here.
I love the creativity of the menu and how it changes with the seasons. Chef John Williams brings only the freshest farm to table ingredients for his eclectic style. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you have a wonderful dining experience.
Good food and History with a lot of ambiance
Great place for Sunday Brunch
Food was excellent and recommended items were good choices. Staff was friendly, interesting to listen to and responsive to needs. Will definitely return when in the area again.
Good service despite several large parties. Always enjoy Grays.
Amazing all the way around! Definitely hit this spot....you will not be disappointed! The Chicken Salad is amazing and the Salmon Quinoa salad is equally great!!! ThNks Grays On Main....we will be back!!!!
The restaurant has a nice ambiance and it’s nice to sit near a window for street viewing. The old character of the building is unique and they’ve decorated it to the style of the period. We ate mostly shareables and had plenty. The Wintertime menu was being offered (April 28th) and I wish we had come on Wednesday when the Spring menu was available. Our waitress was very friendly and the bartender can concoct anything. It would be a great place to take someone from out of town after strolling around Franklin.
I made reservation for my wife's 60th bday. Put that in the comments. When we got there were seated next to a party. Not cool. Asked to change as I received a confirmation call and was told on 2nd floor. Got a little attitude. Food was ok
Pork chop over done and dry. Figs are fantastic. When we were done no body cleaned our table so we put our plates next to us. Desert was fantastic. Over all probable won't go back. Sorry could have knocked it out the park.
Our waitress was phenomenal!
Fried Chicken was excellent!
Grays is probably my favorite restaurant in Franklin. We go pretty regularly for the amazing craft cocktails and appetizers. That being said, unless we sit at the bar, the service can be very hit or miss. My sister and I brought an out of town relative for dinner, and from the time we sat down, we waited 30 minutes for a cocktail. It took so long that we had already received and finished our appetizers before our drinks arrived. Our server didn’t come back to take our dinner order until our drinks arrived. The food was amazing as always, and we had a good time thanks to another server working upstairs, who checked in with us several times, and even took photos for us. We will be back because we do love Gray’s, but after a pretty embarrassing experience with our aunt, it’s probably not the place to bring visiting friends and family.
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, my sandwich which was a special for the day was fabulous.
GREAT PLACE. YUMMY FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE. MY FIRST TIME AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
Absolutely wonderful experience. I am Director of Sales for TownePlace Suites Marriott. We will definitely continue to recommend Gray's. The free banana pudding (yummy) for my guest's birthday was a pleasant surprise. Thank you.
Great date night. Good food. Perfect evening with Lori waiting on our table.
I loved this place while I was visiting Tennesse, so beautiful and the food was amazing.
Pleasantly surprised with this find. Dined for lunch, they seated us at a lovely table by the window. We ordered all three appetizers and LOVED them. The rest of our meal was incredible!
Table was perfect. It was a birthday, so especially appreciate the window table with sunshine. Food and drinks absolutely amazing! Service was uncharacteristically below average. Trouble ordering second drinks followed by extremely long wait to get them. Not our normal exemplary experience! Will try again.
Bacon-wrapped figs= 👌🏻
Freshly-squeezed OJ= great mimosas
(Don’t skip the upstairs bar.)
Super cool place, lots of history. Definitely a place to stop.
Excellent service & food to match!! Brussel sprout appetizer was delicious as were both salads we got. It’s a little loud in there but food & service make up for it!!
We had an early evening dinner with Gray's, so there was a peaceful ambiance unlike concert nights, which we have also enjoyed, so be aware of the time and night you choose depending on what you are looking for. We had the ribeye with smoked tomato butter, the shortribs with kimchi and the salmon. All were excellent. Also had the Anthym Spirit specialty cocktail that the server took time to help me select based on my tastes, and it was PERFECT! Service was just right. Great experience all around.
I brought two children who had chicken strips & chips. They looked good and neither complained. I had the turkey sandwich with cranberries & I wouldn't order it again. I don't care for oven roasted turkey (I prefer smoked or hickory roasted or any flavor) & without the cranberries, it would have had no flavor. The bread was toasted too much - hard. I ate some of the chips but thought they were terribly salty. We ordered the chocolate brownie, but I definitely wouldn't order it again either. The brownies were very good, but without chocolate syrup or ice cream, they were too much to choke down. I am a huge chocolate lover and so are the children, but the 1/2 scoop of chocolate ice cream and tiny dollops of whipped cream just didn't do it. That needs to be served with at least one large scoop of ice cream. I don't know if we've ever left that much brownie on a plate before. The server was attentive and helpful & good at his job. While this is a negative review, I would give the restaurant one more try if I ever come back with friends. We live 4 hours away, so that is a slim possibility. I read about the restaurant online. One more thing. I think it would be courteous to ASK a 65+ person if being seated upstairs is OK. That was a LOT of stairs for a quirky knee. I didn't quite understand why we weren't seated on the street level because there were tables empty. I apologize for all of this explanation, but if you don't want to know the truth, I am not the person to ask.
Our salmon was delicious and one of the best we had ever had. However, one person in our party had the pork chops and they were horrible - dry and tasteless. Tasted like they had been cooked hours before, dried out and then warmed up in a microwave. Waitress took the price off our bills which was nice of her, however, unfortunately, we were there for a birthday celebration and the person whose birthday it was couldn't even eat their dinner because it was so bad. Too bad because it ruined our desire to go back to Gray's.
Great food and friendly service! Hope to visit again!
Limited menu so be prepared
Limited modifications to any item
Noisy and close seating (you can hear the table next to you)
Attentive service and quick delivery of food.
Despite an early reservation pre-concert, and an empty dining room, we were seated in the bar upstairs which was noisy. The service was so rushed, despite our efforts to slow things down, that the entrees arrived before we had taken the first bite of our salads. The waiter seemed perplexed when we asked that they be held in the kitchen. The food was subpar at best.
Overall mediocre and we won’t return.
Enjoyed a great dinner before a fantastic Studio Tenn performance at Franklin Theatre
We enjoyed our dinner very, very much!! The Brussels Sprout....oh my the best ever!! And our server was wonderful and made our night fun!! We will be back!!
Short rib is to die for! All 3 people in my party ordered and loved it. Service is friendly and ambiance is rustic casual. I've been here for lunch and that is just as good as dinner, although more of a sandwich menu and more choices. We'll be back!
Dinner before a show, nice view on second floor, great service, good food and drinks!
SO delighted you take reservations at lunch! Always enjoy GRAY'S on Main.
The entire experience was wonderful. Beautiful building, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, and gorgeous live music! We had a perfect lunch with friends and plan to return again soon!
We had the Shrimp and Grits and Salmon on a Caesar Salad. Not excellent. Had the bacon wrapped figs. Yummy also...
My fiance and I have been trying to go to Greys for a while, but finally set up a reservation. The food was great, as well as the service. We enjoyed brunch with a couple of friends of ours. I expected the pricing to be a little high, but it wasnt as bad as I thought. However, at least for brunch, the cost of mimosas/alcohol was higher than I expected when I got the check back. So I would recommend this place, but make sure you set up a reservation as any walk up wait is generally 45-90 min. Also, be careful of the cocktail prices being in the range of $10-$12 instead of $7-$9 range. Thats not a lot, but it adds up when both of us got two mimosas at $12 a pop.
