Gratzi - Ann Arbor Ratings and Reviews
Came during Restaurant Week and got seated upstairs which was very fun — you had a nice view of the paintings studding the walls and the street outside with its winter lights. Since we ordered off the Restaurant Week menu, we each got an appetizer, an entree, and dessert. The entrees were tasty and visually appealing. Had it not been for the crispy bread and olive oil that arrived prior to the appetizer, though, my 6 foot tall, high metabolizer of a boyfriend would have left unsatisfied. We also tried the recommended wines, which neither us of do regularly since it’s cheaper to enjoy wine at home. No regrets though!
I have lived in Ann Arbor for about 3.5 years and I have been to many restaurants and Gratzi, time and time again, has proven to be my favorite restaurant. The ambiance makes it feel like a special night every night I go there with just the right music in the background. Also, it is a beautiful restaurant with many options that won't break the bank.
Lobster spaghetti is my splurge, but they have so many delicious options. Their pasta dishes have never failed, but I am such a sucker for their crispy ravioli appetizer. Their salmon and gnocchi is to die for, and the sauce on the lobster ravioli and impeccable. Even the simple spaghetti and meatball (it is one giant, stuffed meatball) is also so delicious. Furthermore, their cheeses and wine selection hit the spot if you are looking for a fun date night. The service varies just based on how busy they are, but my servers have always been so polite and prompt.
If you are in Ann Arbor and looking for a nice Italian restaurant to visit, I strongly recommend Gratzi. It is without a doubt that you will find something on the menu that will please your taste buds.
Visited Gratzi for Ann Arbor Restaurant Week. No complaints here! The food was great - the options for the restaurant week menu were awesome too! I had the calamari flash fried app and the salmon with gnocchi for my entree. Both were done perfectly. The warm bread for the table was also a nice touch. Great dinner and quality service!
This was the first time we visited Gratzis. The restaurant was a little crowded as they try to maximize the number of tables. Expect to bump into people at the neighboring table. The restaurant is very open so it can get a bit noisy with all of the conversations. The dinner was nice but maybe a bit expensive. We had the Salmon and the Mediterranean Sea Bass, both were prepared perfectly. I would recommend this restaurant as one of the nicer in Ann Arbor. Watching the clientele, I would recommend dressing a little nicer for dinner.
We reserved a table for New Year's Eve. I called the restaurant to add a high chair to our 4 people reservation. When we arrived they could not accomdate a high chair. They offered a booster which is normally fine. However the booth was right next to the kitchen. We love Gratzi and the food is usually outstanding. The Pollo Marsala was overly salty and the scallop dish was a great disappointment. The other 2 dishes were good. I hope this is just an anomaly. We will try Gratzi again.
Went for Christmas Eve dinner. The waitstaff and managers did not want to be there and the service reflected that. Have frequented this restaurant and other Main St. Restaurants many times and have never experienced the poor service we received this evening. It was not limited to our server- everyone in the restaurant this evening seemed like the just didn't want to be there- from the manager on down.
We meet with the same friends each year on Christmas Eve for late lunch, and always go to Gratzi's because we can trust the service to be good and professional, and the food to be high quality. This year was no different--snow was falling outside, we had a nice window table with a good view--it was very festive. The waitress seemed to want to move things along, but took the hint that we were not in a rush and wanted to savor both the company and the food. There isn't another restaurant in Ann Arbor that can match the decor and ambience.
We started going to Gratzi on Christmas Eve and really enjoy it. The food is great for kids, adults, and seniors, both vegetarians and meat eaters. Pizza is a little small. Insalada mista, all shrimp dishes and pasta with marinara are all excellent! Loved my mimosa, too!
Went here, for the first time, with my family to celebrate graduation. The food was amazing. I got the sea bass and loved it. Everyone else loved their food as well. The service was great in the beginning, but thoroughly decreased the rest of the evening. Despite the service, would love to go back soon!
The food was generally of good quality given the price level at this location. The calamari was so-so, pasta rustica on the other hand quite tasty. Been there once before and remembered it for the espresso which I thought was among the very best I've had in Ann Arbor. No longer, it was way too diluted, too weak this time. Too bad. Service was very friendly but a bit uneven and haphazard. And this on a quiet weekday...
After an absence of a few years, we returned to Gratzi hoping to be as pleased with our experience as we had previously been there. While still an enjoyable place to dine, Gratzi seems to have lost the edge on high standards that we had always expected. Our plates looked a bit ‘tired’ when brought out, as though they were not freshly prepared and delivered. It seemed that quantity rather than high quality and freshness had become a goal. Flavors were ok. Prices were a bit lower than what we have become used to seeing in higher rated restaurants.
Service was attentive and friendly. Wine selections good. Lively atmosphere.
