Gratzi - Ann Arbor Ratings and Reviews
I heard this place had really good food and was great for business meetings. I do agree the place is really cool inside, I liked the set up with the bar on another level. After the ambiance, I got nothing else really good to say. I take that back, our service was very good. The downfall to the dinner was the food. I had a cold steak and mash potatoes I really can't describe besides bizarre texture. Being my first time there, I don't think I'd rush back but I think I'd give them one more chance.
We have consistently had a great time at this restaurant. The food is excellent and the prices are not too high. The service is friendly and attentive but not overbearing. There is usually background music playing at a level where it is pleasing but certainly does not drown out a conversation.
Great food. Great service. Great ambiance. Server was attentive Some list ok not great but ok.
The hostess / owner were very accommodating when part of our party wasn't able to join us because their plane was delayed. It was parrnts weekend - busy - but our server was good and the food was good too
Very accommodating when we asked to move reservation to earlier time on a very busy weekend. Everyone pleasant with attentive service. Food and drinks excellent. Loved the complimentary Limoncello at end of meal. Nice surprise. Look forward to returning when we are back in Ann Arbor.
We had reservations, but even so we ended up having to wait for a table for a
lengthy amount of time. We had reservations for 8:15 and didn’t get out of there until 11. There were just 4 of us. One of our salads was delivered without the signature pears on it.
The Sachetti was delicious! Everyone’s favorite of the evening.
Seafood risotto was too spicy hot for us.
We were seated upstairs under the big barrel light which is awful! The light is a harsh, fluorescent like color and brightness, much like you would find in a school cafeteria not a fine dining restaurant. Then we noticed that the rest of the lighting upstairs is pretty terrible, hard to see for other patrons. I believe it makes it difficult for the servers to see as well. Perhaps a lighting specialist needs to be brought in for the upstairs because it is really unsuitable as it is. Putting a big bright bulb in the big hanging lights is not working. It kills any ambiance. Sconces or table lamps, floor lamps even, with a warm bulb might all be options to look into.
Sad to say our dinner dragged out too long and we didn’t enjoy it as much as we anticipated. It will be a long time before we revisit.
Gratzi is a good restaurant, fun, lively and quality food. However, they were off the mark on this occasion. Food was not as good as usual. Favorite gnocci and salmon was dry and bland. Service was pleasant but forgot one dinner (had to wait another 15 minutes to get it) and never brought coffee that was ordered (but was on bill, initially). We will continue to go, but they should be better than they were for this meal.
The dining experience is consistent and Gratzi has never disappointed, whether it is a special occasion or just a pleasant meal. Presentation is always decent with attention to detail with plating and servers making sure things are as they should be for finer dining.
Hostess, waiter, and manager were all very friendly. Food came out in a timely manner, tasted fresh, and the overall taste and presentation was fantastic. We ordered the caption pasta and a chicken and artichoke pizza. The goat cheese was out of this world! I definitely recommend Gratzi to anyone looking for a nice night out at a reasonable price.
We usually enjoy going to Gratzi but not so last night. First, they forgot my drink order, then the salad we were splitting never came. The meal took 45 minutes to arrive. For most of the meal the waiter was absent. Finally, the bill was in error when we were charged someone else's drink. Not sure if their computers were messed up or it was our server.
Disappointing experience. It was game night. We made a reservation for 530 and arrived on time. Over an hour after we ordered we have still not received our entrée. By the time our entrée was ready we had to leave for the game. The restaurant was empty when we left. Other than saying they’re sorry they offered no reason why our meal took that long. We’ve eaten at this restaurant several times and have always had a great experience. Either our order wasn’t put in or something else happened as people arrive after us and had their meals. The manager was very apologetic, did not charge us for the bowl of soup we had and brought my wife some cheese as she needed some protein before leaving for the game. all in all what we had looked forward to having a nice meal was simply disappointing.
Very Disapponted with the food. Have been to Gratzi numerous times but this time it just didn't go over good at all. There were four of us and it was a BIG GAME DAY in Ann Arbor, thus every place was packed, but we had reservation because of the expected crowd. My wife and I ordered the Seafood Risotto a favorite of mine but I had never ordered it at Gratzi before but at one of their sister restaurants in Sylvania, Ohio. Anyhow, nothing on the menu indicated that it was spicy, had it indicated spicy I wouldn't have ordered it. It was so spicy I couldn't eat it.....My wife loves spicy food and she had a difficult time eating the food...So after a few attempts I gave up and waited for the waitress to come along. Granted it was crowded but it took forever to get her attention. They wanted to bring me something else, but I declined. Actually 15 minutes later they did bring another order of Risotto which I declined. Two hours later maybe a little longer, my wife got sick. She had complained to me about the food but didn't send it back.
I love the Main Street Venture group of restaurants but this was just one of those times when it all went bad. The restaurant did take the food off of my bill without me saying anything, which I expected them to do. We'll go back but for sure will not order the Risotto. Maybe go next door to The Chop House....
We were promptly seated and the service was excellent. Our server was friendly and helpful with our food choices. I thoroughly enjoyed my pasta entree, but the two people I was with were not as happy. The tiramisu for dessert was light and a great way to end the meal.
