Gratzi - Ann Arbor

The service was very slow, sat down a 6;45 dinner was not served until 8;00 and was not hot. A piece of fish on top of a pile of something
Go Tuesdays for the flights: 4 wonderful wines and accompanying gourmet appetizers for around $25. Delightful and affordable way to sample high quality wines and complimenting dishes beautifully conceived, prepared, and presented. Mondays, by the way, is Half-off wine by the bottle, a great way to dig into Gratzi's superb and Italian-favoring wine list.
Our waiter Edgar was outstanding! The food was really good, especially the burrata appetizer. The service made all the difference and we’ve already made a reservation for our next visit back in Ann Arbor.
Love the authentic Italian choices. Unfortunately a seafood allergy prevented me from sampling some of the dishes. Food is fresh and very good
The food was excellent and our waiter was fantastic!!
We sat in the back by the kitchen which was not too bad however our server kept forgetting things, Splenda , tea etc. we asked for our meal to be split and it came out on one plate and the second plate we got was a small rectangular plate. Just felt like we were a second thought. We’ll try again cause we always give a second chance.
Been here more times than I can remember over 15+ years. But, by far this was my worst experience. Our waitress literally disappeared for 30 minutes and no one stopped by. Upon returning, our waitress says..”sorry, didn’t expect to be gone so long.” Manager seemed to not have a clue how to run a restaurant. All of our food was was cold. We watched a table of 6 sit down for 15 minutes and no one address them. They just got up and left. Hopefully this was a one-time event and not a trend.
Not enough servers
We were a table of 10, arriving at separate times but our service was flawless. New drinks arrived. Appetizers were shared. MMM, that antipasti and those saccheti and the calamari--so so good. Everyone's dinner came out together. No complaints about the mains: swordfish, tenderloin, salmon, lobster gnocchi. And at the end: limoncello shots for all! Accompanied by espresso for those night owls.
I went in on the 12th of July with my friend (for my birthday .)
A very wonderful restaurant to offer a birthday special for their patrons and guests. The meal of salads and dessert were very good. A nice way to spend a birthday 🎁
The low seating in the dining area is not suitable for those under 5’5. Tuscany Soup was lukewarm and bland. Could not taste eggplant in the appetizer. Farfelle shrimp dish also lukewarm and tasteless. The beet salad was the best.
This is my favorite restaurant to go to in Ann Arbor that serves delightful Italian dishes. If you can request the window seating upstairs. Great for people watching and amazing ambiance. Love Gratzi!
I enjoyed a delicious birthday dinner. The bacon wrapped scampi, lobster gnocchi and creme brulee were very good. I was seated along the railing in the upper level with a nice view of outside. Service was also very good. Thank you !
Food was really great, my friend and i went out for lunch and we each got a salmon dish. Our server was excellent, she accidentally charged us for the dinner price but then the manager was able to change it for us and we had the lunch price. It was nice that Gratzi was open for lunch on Saturday, definitely will return!
Believe to have a new server. Very nice but we had to wait quite a while for drinks to arrive. Didn't check as often as we would have liked. Restaurant was very busy which could have contributed.
Gratzi has been a favorite restaurant for years. Every time we go there, we vow that"this time we're saving room for dessert", and every time we fail. This time was no exception: after a salad and pasta, we were already too full to even order a meat course, which I was looking forward to! It's not that their portions are too large (they're portioned just fine), it's that we've aged and keep finding ourselves unable to consume portions that some years ago would have been just right.
Di Pere Salad -- Fabulous! I would have preferred pears that had been roasted a bit longer (mine were a bit too crisp), but I suppose that's a matter of taste.
Good menu but doesn’t change much. Nice facility. Waitress was a bit ditzy. Food was good but not exceptional.
Celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary. Everything was great except our waitress forgot our salad which wasn't a big deal since we had a lot of food anyway.
Everything was perfect, from the food to the ambience to the attentive service. We can’t get enough of Gratzi.
Gratzi continues to have one of the best birthday deals around. Our salad and entrees (scallops/veal) were excellent. However, the coffee was lukewarm at best and their tiramisu still leaves something to be desired - no kick! Very attentive service.
Wonderful food, excellent ambiance and attentive service. We use this restaurant as a good mid-way point to meet friends and we have never been disappointed. From the appetizers to pasta to meat, we have tested many and have enjoyed them all.
The food was excellent. I had the salmon dish that was perfectly grilled. The caprese salad was lovely, mozzarella was nice and the different tomatoes gave a different flavor. We also loved the minestrone soup, extra special flavors and the presentation is worth it. And the gnocchis was good, we liked it the least. Wonderful restaurant for any or all occasions
We have virtually no criticism of this place. The menu was diverse and had a good variety of veg, meat, and fish. Yes, one can spend a lot of money. but it isn't necessary as the appetizers and pasta dishes were ample and reasonable. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and wine, and even brought the chef over to describe the ingredients of a dish. This was a very nice place while still catering to the casual Ann Arbor clientele.
Took the guy's out for a good meal after they kicked butt on a job. Needless to say they were amazed by the food, atmosphere & service. Everything was very good. Next time I am in the area we will definitely dine here again.
I was very disappointed in our food. It was very dry and bland. We had all ordered pasta dishes.
Service was off too!
Disappointed by the food, no better than Olive Garden. I was expecting a lot more for the price.
Second visit in the past couple of months and we experienced poor service both times. Waitstaff doesn’t seem interested in providing A+ level service. Members of our party were ignored when drink orders were taken, we had to request things multiple times, wrong orders were delivered. Two of the meals were sent back due to taste and quality. Gratzi was a favorite of ours but the overall experience and taken a sharp decline.
Great food and dining experience. The only negative was the Maître d'hôtel. He was curt with walk in customers who did not have a reservation. He treated them rudely initially and only after they persisted did he come up with a table for them. It was uncomfortable and uncalled for.
Our server was very nice, however were not certain he was properly trained. Our appetizer order was wrong. Also, I asked for asparagus to be added to my salmon dish. When it arrived without asparagus, he went somewhere to find out if I could get some, but then told us it would be an additional $9 for a side order. I should have been told this long before our food was delivered. In addition, my food was only lukewarm (maybe because it had been sitting out while our appetizer order was corrected). Also, there were three un-bussed tables around us - for an extended period of time. That’s unacceptable for any restaurant- not to mention one that is of the caliber of Gratzi. Overall, this was not what we had expected. Again, the server was very nice, but either the restaurant needs more training or higher standards.
We were disappointed at the food that night. We have had better previously. The grilled salmon didn't have any taste. The waitress didn't offer any parmesan cheese although several of us have ordered pasta dishes. We don't think we will visit there again.
For summer restaurant week this year at Gratzi, we were a little disappointed. The meal was not up to Gratzi’s regular standards, as we have previously enjoyed great experiences there. My husband had the calamari, which included an almost too generous serving, but was missing the lemon sachet that all other plates had. The cauliflower starter I had would have been better had the cauliflower been served warm, with the cold arugula and toppings served on top. For the entree, we both had the lobster gnocchi. This was a good dish overall, but was not as nice as previous restaurant week choices at Gratzi. The desserts were a big fail. We shared my tiramisu and his zuppe inglaise. The tiramisu was basically thrown onto the plate, with the worst destroyed morsels of berries on the side. The berries seriously were like crumbs of berries- it would have almost been better to leave those off the plate because they looked like they had been scraped from the bottom of the berry container in attempt to try to come up with something, anything, to put on as a garnish. The zuppe inglaise turned out to be something like a mousse/pudding, but it was SO GRAINY and did not have a smooth texture at all. I have tried making puddings from scratch before... they turned out grainy, and this is why I NEVER make them to serve to guests. I need to practice more first. I have never been served grainy pudding at a restaurant before, especially not at a restaurant as nice as Gratzi. The desserts were awful. Additionally, this is the second time in a row, (with months elapsed) that their espresso machine has been down when we have tried to include espresso with our meal. That was another annoying detail.
We’ll probably still go back again at least one more time bc we traditionally have liked this restaurant, but we probably will skip this one for restaurant week in the future. It was pretty disappointing.
Great three course lunch for restaurant week. Good atmosphere.
It was great!
Service was very slow, and while they apologized, they didn’t offer to do anything until we had paid the bill
We loved the Restaurant Week options that were offered and attentive service. Sitting in the balcony offered us an appreciative view of the entire restaurant.
Great food and wonderful table on the balcony -- always a great place to go for food and ambiance.
Have been to Gratzi several times. Not sure if they have a new chef or what changed this time but it definitely was not as good as usual. It was good don’t get me wrong just not up to what I had experienced in the past.
The food was great! However, the service we got wasn’t worth it. We came in on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm and were one of probably 5 or 6 tables in the whole restaurant. We could hardly ever find our waitress and when we did it would still take her at least a half hour to return. Even with small requests such as bread or water. Good food is not hard to find in Ann Arbor so this place definitively was not worth a lunch that ended up taking over 2 hours.
Not good as we expected from 4+ rating restaurant. Service was okay. We ordered vegetarian food and got pork in that. Was disgusting. Anyway poor service and taste of the food was not up to the mark.
