Everything was outstanding.
Great food and atmosphere. Our server was new, but she did well and was able to answer any questions we had, or she found someone who could. A very nice evening
Birthday dinner. Excellent service. Received complimentary after dinner drink and dessert. We were unable to go on my son’s actual birthday because of weather, but restaurant gave us a rain check good for two weeks. Generous birthday discount. Food very good overall and generous portions. Lobster bisque tasty but a little thin. Excellent wine list.
We went to Gratzi for my friend's birthday. We had the scallop and veal entrees and they were excellent. Further, if you go there EXACTLY on your birthday, you get a 50% discount on all food - very nice. However, we had some issues with the service. While the food was brought to the table on a timely basis, our server was not quite as attentive as she should have been. And, there was a major communication problem with the dessert. Even after the manager came to the table, even he could not understand what we were requesting, altho we thought it was very clear. It was finally straightened out, but it was not pleasant.
Loved the food, place, music ,ambience, where we were seated, mural, I felt I was back in Paris. Unfortunately the kitchen was slow & wedid not get our Valentine drink & desert but our server. Nichole. Was the best server time wise & refilled when needed. Wonderful place can’t wait to come again. Loved the tablet. Showing pictures of food
Great services and food was amazing. Our family had a wonderful dinner tonight
What a fantastic place. If you want to take that special someone in your life out for a treat this is the place. Wonderful greeters at the door as we entered into the restaurant. Arrived a little early and enjoyed a terrific glass of wine before being shown our table. We had questions about a wine pairing with our dinner and the Sommelier Andy was terrific. He was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. The wait staff was very attentive. We'll definitely make a return trip. Worth the money.
The waitress always kept our glasses full and we were asked by management if we enjoyed everything and needed anything else. Also received a complimentary shot after paying!

Both me and my wife we enjoyed the experience there very much
We just had the best meal of our lives at Gratz! Wonderful atmosphere, excellent service! We WILL be back!
Service was beyond slow. There was a sharp piece in my seafood dish and they didn’t do anything regarding this matter except remake the dish.
Bolognese, spicy sausage pasta and salads very good. Alfredo not so much. Tiramisu so so
The food was not exceptional but the ambience and the waiter were. It was overpriced (especially the salad) and heavy (the pasta dish). The bottle of wine was good but not $40 good. Luckily I had a gift card otherwise I would have felt sad to have spent so much. But enjoyed the company I was with and the atmosphere
Went for my husbands birthday. Our server was Tim. Can’t say enough great things about him: he didn’t rush us despite how busy the restaurant was, he spaced our appetizer, salad, entree perfectly. He was engaging but not intrusive. Best sever we have had in a VERY long time, and we eat out frequently.
Amazing server. However, hosts seemed condescending. Not a fan of the paper over the tablecloths—quite cheap. My requests for my reservation weren't honored or addressed. I understand this can be difficult, but I made the reservation very far in advance and the host made no effort to let me know they couldn't be accommodated. The food was amazing, mostly disappointed with the experience.
Food was fantastic!!! The cocktails left a lot to be desired. The three of us ordered Manhattans which took a long time to make. We sent the first ones back to be made over as they were so clear they almost looked like a martini. If we weren’t trying to catch a show we would have sent the makeovers back as well as they were better but not on par with the outstanding food. The poor cocktails lowered the overall rating.
Tuna was undercooked; eggplant parmigiana was bland & huge portion which overwhelmed the dish in which it was served. Salads were nicely presented & very good. Dessert was attractive & hard to eat. Photo showed several strawberries accompanying the cannoli but actual desert was one strawberry. Have eaten at this restaurant many times. Disappointed in the food preparation & presentation. Very pleasant server & restaurant is nice place to go to celebrate special occasion.
I haven't been to Gratzi in about 15 years and it's nice to know that some things don't change. The food and the service was very good and we felt welcomed and appreciated there. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Nice selection on the menu and the Sea Bass recommendation was great as was the Salmon with Gnocchi and also the Ravioli. Chocolate cake and tiramisu was was good. Server Michelle was friendly and attentive but not overly so. Will definitely come again when I am back in Ann Arbor.
Delicious food, excellent service made it great! We’ll return again soon.
Very average food. Tiramisu was melted, ravioli dry...
The food was delicious. The service we received was very attentive.
My wife and I both ordered pasta dishes and the sauces on both were very watered-down. We also ordered tiramisu for dessert and it was clear to us that the tiramisu had melted at some point. Finally, my wife ordered a side of broccolini ($9.50) and it came out cold with no cheese on top.
My new favorite restaurant in every way!! Can’t wait to return
Normally I love Gratzi. I have been there more times since it opened than any other restaurant. Before we had kids we went 3-4x/week. We still enjoy it now for birthdays and anniversaries and the occasional night out. I was surprised that my restaurant week meal was so dull. My first course was the cauliflower salad and it tasted like sugar was dumped on it. I asked for vinegar to tone down the sweetness so I could eat it and 15 minutes later was brought olive oil. My waitress seemed new and I’m pretty forgiving about that, it was just a disappointment. She was too busy to ask her to go back and get vinegar. My main course was the lobster pasta. I was happy they had gluten free available. The dish was dull. It didn’t seem to have much flavor—it didn’t appear to have herbs or spices or much of a sauce, so I added the olive oil I got. The dessert was a two flavor pudding that was low on flavor. I couldn’t tell what the flavors were. It just tasted like sweet cream with no other flavorings.
So, I felt it was not a good use of my money. I will not return for restaurant week, but I’ll continue to go at other times. Over the years it’s been a very consistently delish place to eat.
Order was wrong. Food was cold. Busy night and they couldn’t handle the volume. Ordered steak rare and it came medium well. They forgot to put mushroom and goat cheese on stop of their signature dish steak. Heard they changed chefs. Meal was a complete disaster.
Haven’t been in years & now we remember why. Don’t plan to be back.
The food was mixed: the short rib very good the lobster dish had a few small pieces of lobster overwhelmed by the mushroom flavor. The calamari was heavy and chewy. It was 6:30 PM and:"we're sorry we ran out of Tiramisu!?"
Excellent spot for a special occasion. The service is spot on, great menu.
I visited for restaurant week and I must say that I have a mix of emotions. I'll start with all the positive stuff because they're more than the negative feedback (room for improvement). The customer service was a great, really attentive waiter, friendly hostess, and a pretty good manager that went a couple of times to our table to asks us how our food was. I had the fried calamari for an appetizer and they were pretty good, a really big portion, sadly a little overcooked, but thankfully it wasn't chewy nor bothersome. The desert was PHENOMENAL! My goodness, that dessert tasted like heaven! Sadly for the main, I had the lobster gnocchi and I must say that I was quite disappointed. Food portion was large (which is good), the lobster was overcooked, the flavors weren't there and the gnocchi wasn't as good as compared to others that I've had before or my friends at the table that ordered the salmon gnocchi. There's room for improvement, but once again great customer service, appetizers, portions, and dessert.
The roasted cauliflower was disappointing- just a few small pieces of cauliflower scattered on a plate and the cauliflower was kind of limp rather than the expected florets with a bit of crunch on the edges from roasting. Rest of the meal was pretty standard. My reservation included a request for a booth which was not honored. An empty table in the corner was not available either when we inquired. Overall dining experience was fine.
Restaurant week in Ann Arbor is great to try more courses than we would normally order. Our meals were fresh, nicely presented and our service was excellent
Pasta was dry at restaurant week. I had carbonara. There were bits of semi cooked egg whites in the pasta. Not creamy or rich at all. Seemed a rush job. Great drinks though!
We had a wine and food flight pairing which was very good, but the main course was just alright. We went during restaurant week with their present menu, so that might have played a part. We will try to go again to order off the main menu and see if the food caliber is a little better.
We enjoyed a very good meal in a nice ambiance with friendly and efficient staff and service.
My friend and I were very excited to go to Gratzi because of its reviews and the restaurant week menu. The fried goat cheese ravioli was a great appetizer, but everything was pretty plain from there. We ordered the lobster gnocchi with sweet corn, mushrooms, and black truffle, and the pollo milanese. The gnocchi had very little flavor, the sauce didn’t really incorporate well with the gnocchi, and the lobster was very chewy. The pollo milanese was okay, but just okay. We had the tiramisu and zuppa inglese. The zuppa inglese was tasty, but the tiramisu was mostly whipped cream - there was very little of the cake / ladyfinger layers we would have expected. We literally dug around the cream to find the cake and only found crumbs. We might have just gotten a weird slice.
Our server was nice and the vibe of the restaurant was nice, but neither of us would go there again. The food wasn’t bad, but it didn’t live up to our expectations.
Food was excellent as was our server. We did have an issue ordering wine. Our server informed us that bottles were half price as we were there on a Monday for restaurant week. We requested a Beringer Cabernet. Our server left and came back to tell us that this wine was not available as it was on the “by the glass” list. We chose another bottle and when the server returned she informed us that this particular wine was also not available-not in the current stock. She suggested another cab but we had already informed her that we were not interested in that particular wine as we were club members at that winery and had their wines in our own cellar. No accommodation was made (such as allowing us to purchase the Beringer) and it seems management could have handled the situation better. We ended by getting a glass of wine each.
We went for restaurant week. It was fabulous! Always love every visit to Gratzi!
Service could have been better-- especially since I was not there for restaurant week special
I hadn't been to Gratzi in several years. The interior seemed much, if not entirely the same, which was actually a comfort. While the meal we had was tasty, and our server was pleasant and earnest, there were several things notable that could've been better.
Our table for 2 upstairs was very cramped (and my guest and I are not large people). They were out of the "market fish" I ordered, but didn't tell me that for 10-15 meetings (because "the kitchen was backed up") and then when they offered to make an alternate fish with the same preparation (with which I was ok) they then took another 10-15 minutes to tell me that, too, wasn't possible. They then offered a third fish (which worked fine with the preparation). There also was a 10-15 minute wait after we each ordered a glass of wine for it to appear. (Note, the place was relatively full but hardly packed.) All of these delays actually made us late for our next appointment (and we let the restaurant know our time constraints - we allowed over 90 minutes for dinner and did not delay in ordering initially).
Ultimately the meal was as good as expected. I would've expected some further acknowledgment (whether just a further apology, offering a free dessert or "comping" some portion of the meal we did order) from staff, but nothing was forthcoming.
No mention was made of special occasion
