Gratzi - Ann Arbor
Ask about our Birthday Meal Deal!
Most things were good except for large groups of college-aged teens celebrating the Holidays before the break. Large table beside us with the strong smell of cologne & perfume. Spoils an evening of wine & Italian food.
Able to accommodate celiac (severe gluten allergy) with nearly everything on the menu. Excellent scallops and fish. Pizzetta and desserts were good but not great. Our server was a little slow, disorganized, which is not usually the case when we have dined here before.
We’ve celebrated our anniversary with/at Gratzi for 25+ years! It’s always special for us. Thanks for being a constant for us! Food and service is always good!
Wonderful meal and fantastic service. I loved the house made limoncello at the end. My gnocchi was fabulous and the sacchetti appetizer was so good. You also have my favorite fancy cocktail, the Paradiso! I come back for my birthday every year!
We went here after hearing The Messiah. Had to change the time and number of our reservation and they were very accommodating. Sunday at 5:30 was not too busy or noisy so we enjoyed our dinners and quiet conversation. Gratzi has been a family favorite for many years. It’s a beautiful setting and the food and wines are consistently delightful. We’ve never been disappointed.
Always a great meal
Great food, service, and atmosphere!
Great birthday celebration for my wife with our family of 6.
Our first return visit after over ten year absence (we usually prefer their sister restaurants of Chop House and Real Seafood) ! However, I noticed that Chef John Somerville (of “The Lark” fame) recently joined the team and I was looking forward to visiting him. He hasn’t made any changes to the menu yet but asked me to come back early next year !
Regardless, it was a very enjoyable dinner albeit a bit loud and with the ambience of Grand Central Station as we are very near the kitchen. High energy!
Food was very good, service a little slow. Great atmosphere and location.
We love Gratzi and were excited about the new chef, a two time James Beard nominee! But, um, well, the food simply underwhelmed. So disappointing. Love the place still but Chef Sommerville needs to up his game.
It's always a treat to eat here! The menu is diverse enough to satisfy any appetite.
Excellent spot. We always go there for a meal when we are in Ann Arbor.
My experience was great! Our server was awesome and the food was good.
We had a great time visiting our son in Ann Arbor. Dinner was delicious and we loved our table upstairs looking out the window. We will definitely come again.
This is our go to birthday place. Great food. Great environment.
Food was good, not great. Mixed drinks are incredibly small and expensive. Wines by the glass very limited. Very friendly wait staff. Nice ambience
We'll be back soon! It was an incredibly wonderful and romantic evening. Thank you for the wonderful food, ambience, and great service!
First time at Gratzi. The food was very good. Try the mushroom pizza with white truffle oil. It is great for 1-2 people as an appetizer. We ate way too much food.
Our meals were excellent and the service was exceptional.
Do not go to Gratzi if you are a vegetarian or a vegan. Every dish includes meat.
Great food and great service. Would definitely recommend
We have been to Gratzi several times [for dinner and for brunch] and have always had a great experience.
This Sunday we made a noon reservation and looked forward to Gratzi's terrific brunch. When we arrived, we were told that Gratzi no longer has a brunch menu. BE ADVISED!
For no apparent reason (the restaurant had not yet gotten busy and there were empty tables all around), we were seated literally next to the kitchen. There are two booths there and I would highly recommend they either do away with those or put up some sort of a partition as it totally takes away from the meal and makes you feel not as important as other customers.
Gratzi was overbooked during a game day weekend where the greeter at the door could not find my reservation for a few minutes. Table we were stuffed into was not comfortable and very loud. The waitress apologized a number of times for the long wait and lack of turnaround on our order. We waited for over 1 hour for our main course. Also, we told the manager about the temperature being way too hot in the restaurant and he came back to thank us for noticing since "they" did not adjust the temperature and he stated it was set at 78 degrees. Not very efficient, after they told us it was because we seated close to the kitchen. My chicken marsala was way over cooked and when I mentioned to the server she apologized again. Apologies and a hefty bill will lead me somewhere else in the future.
Not great food. Additionally, not enough attention is paid to food allergies. I have severe nut allergies, and the waiter fully communicated this to the kitchen, but there was still a nut in my salad. Very disappointing.
Family weekend U of M
My lamb Chops were mostly fat.
food was good, service great although took a long time to get our main entree
Excellent Italian food with a great selection. Meats, cheeses, pastas, and fish were all fresh and delicious. Great for groups.
Enjoyed our night out with my daughter and her two friends. Everything felt very relaxed and we had a lovely evening. I would have liked for pasta to be a little lighter, less thick and chewy, but braised pork sauce was delicious. Everyone else seemed to enjoy there meals as well and creme brûlée was a hit as well. Charlotte was a gracious and professional server.
Love Gratzi! Our server was great, and the food and wine were amazing!
Luv to visit Gratzi whenever in Ann Arbor. Never disappoints!!!
Nice-ish college town Italian-American food. My food came out lukewarm-room temperature. I asked it to be warmed and the waiter was responsive. It came back lukewarm and actually had a piece of veal that was cold in it. Management responded appropriately and took the charge off the bill, but time ran out to make another since we had other plans (1-1/2 hours total there). It’s a place that’s satisfied being one of the popular places in a college town and isn’t reflecting on being excellent.
Food and service was incredible, cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, both food and wine. Ambiance was also really nice and quiet, although it was a weekday evening. Staff was very friendly and conversational, and they went out of their way to make sure we had a great evening. Definitely on the expensive side but totally worth it for a special occasion!
Great fish, risotto, pasta, kids menu, and appetizers
Gratzi’s has been very hit and miss lately. My favorite dish is the Tuna with Rissotto cake. This time, the tuna was cold and Rissotto cake was too well done.
I ate at Gratzi Ann Arbor Restaurant on October 14th . The food was absolutely terrible, cold, and flavor was absent. The service was good. The manager offered to take it off the bill- but as he did take my wife's meal off the bill he said "My Treat" ( Absolutely it was not a treat )
Good service with terrible food is not something you want from a restaurant. I would recommend that folks consider eating somewhere else in Ann Arbor as there are many other restaurants with great food and great service.
My wife and I have a tradition of going to Gratzi for our anniversary every year. After this last visit will we not be returning again.
We'd made our reservation weeks earlier. When we we arrived the restaurant was not busy, however we were given a cramped booth. It ended up being okay, since it was private but, we kept wondering WHY we were shoved into a tiny booth when almost every table was empty.
The food, was terrible and was $181 with tip.
We ordered calamari as an appetizer. It came out ice cold on one side of the plate and burning hot on the other (obviously put under a heat lamp). The waitress never came to ask if it was okay, so I ate the cold side....my wife loves calamari and the hot side was excellent.
Then our main dishes came. I had ordered salmon (a $26 entree), which came completely RAW, they'd just put a piece of raw salmon on top of the pasta! My wife ordered the filet ($35) and had ordered it medium, it was also barely cooked. The waitress had just thrown the plates down and disappeared, we flagged her down and showed her the raw meat. She apologized and took both plates back.
A short time later our plates came back, again the waitress threw the plates down and disappeared without checking if things were okay. Then, a manager stopped by and asked if our meat was cooked now, didn't wait for a response, said something about getting it right the second time, and left. My salmon was cooked perfectly, my wife's filet was now well done and hard.
As we ate it became obvious that the "re-fire" had just been to put the entire plate in an oven. The meat was cooked, everything else on both our plates was hard and dried out. My wife's potatoes were inedible and the sauce on both our dishes was gone.
At this point we were just too upset to care about the food... We ate what we could and just dealt with it.
We ordered dessert, tiramisu and coffee. Both were excellent. A pleasant surprise from the rest of the meal.
excellent dinner right before the UM game....good service, good wine choices....moved right along and had plenty of time to walk to Michigan Stadium...have been coming for many years and it always meets expectations
