Gratzi - Ann Arbor
Ask about our Birthday Meal Deal!
Gratzi is a favorite restaurant with wonderful food, hands down. That said, whether we arrive 10 minutes early or 5 minutes late, we will almost always wait 15-20 minutes for a table ... and tonight, while waiting for our table, close to 15 minutes for the bartender to fill our drink orders and remember we were there, standing while he waited on others. I love this restaurant but the evening often starts out with aggravation at the bar or with the long wait. Perhaps add bar staff to accommodate the overflow???
Service was slow, food was cold. Shrimp was over cooked. The restaurant has gone downhill since my last visit. Sadly, I won’t be back.
Service was terrible, took us more than 30 minutes to order desert after we finished our entrees and our plates were cleared and then more than 30 minutes to receive deserts. Server had zero engagement and appeared miserable. Lots of places with better atmosphere.
Our entrees were very bland . . . all of us tried each other’s and had the same reaction. The chicken Marsala, chicken milenase and farfalle shrimp lacked flavor. Everything else was great . . . but we were disappointed in our birthday dinner
Fabulous birthday celebration! Great service, food, and ambiance!
Poor food, very good service
Great food, great service! We will return In the future!
Place is pretty good. Will go back.
Food was underwhelming for the price. Waitress was not very attentive - had to get her attention multiple times to ask for service. In Open Table I had entered that it was our anniversary, but this was not acknowledged by Gratzi or the waitress. Waitress did not know the wine menu very well. On the positive side. Wine was good. Gratzi was accommodating to my dietary needs (lactose intolerance). Provided complimentary Limoncello for after dinner.
The food was outstanding, very tasty and fresh. Our waitress was one hot mess. It took 35 minutes to get our first drink. Even after we ordered and had our appetizers in front of us, she asked if we would like to order appetizers. Same thing with the entrees. Very weird.
After notifying the manager, he attempted to help, but this woman needed direct one on one supervision. After she brought us our entrees she stood there talking for a few minutes while the people at the next table were trying to order. Other (savvier!) patrons walked out.
Dinner should be relaxing, not filled with staff drama.
I haven't been to Gratzi in many years and was so disappointed. The pasta in the Lobster Pasta and the Spaghetti with Meatballs was inedible. The shrimp in the farfelle was burned to the point that the outside was black. The salmon was very good.
Excellent service, food , authenticity. College friendly. Good location,
The restaurant was very warm. The ventilation at the tables near the window was poor. They found us a new table that was more comfortable. I ordered the pasta with lobster and it had such a strong tarragon flavor that I couldn’t eat it. The wait staff was excellent
Another great meat at Gratzi - great service, excellent food and a relaxing atmosphere. We love this restaurant
Great restaurant. Not the servers fault at all but the kitchen was completely overwhelmed on move in week at university of Michigan
Great food. Excellent service. It's our tradition for drop-off dinner for our daughter to UMich.
Reservation was at 7:30, didn’t eat until 9:30. Service was pretty bad.
Please bring back the fettuccine meal done by table side
Eggplant parm was delicious and a generous portion.
We have had good food at Gratzi in the past, but we were disappointed with the food this time. A tasteless red pepper sauce smothered the sea bass — it was like someone had dumped tomato paste on it. Another member of our party found his sauce to be oily. The risotto was dry.
Lunch menu is a bargain!
Wow, what a change from our normal Gratzi experience- service was abysmal- a Manhattan served at room temp and 25 minutes to get a cold one - I guess we have a new crop of students at the bar and on wait staff...
Went there to celebrate my birthday and had a nice time. Our server was great and my dinner was delicious. However, my husband ordered the Lobster Spaghetti, which was a little disappointing. It was a mountain of pasta with a small portion of lobster meat. For $26, I would expect more. Since it was my birthday, we were given a 50% discount on our food order, so with that in mind, I don't think we can complain - but I certainly would not suggest that dish if someone is paying full price. My scallops were great. One last thing, the bread was not good. It was cold and dry, and the texture was...meh. I think that a high end place like Gratzi's can do a much better job.
I believe that 5-star evaluation says it all. Both my guest and I were delighted with food, venue, service, etc. Highly recommended. Thank you!
Delicious food. Restaurant was a bit warm, but food made up for it.
Overall very enjoyable dining experience. Very Good food. Excellent service. Only negative is that it’s a tad bit noisy. But would still recommend and go back.
It wasn’t the fastest service, but our waitress was always around to refill our glasses and check if we needed anything. Very friendly staff. I would recommend Gratzi if you’re not in a rush and wanted to enjoy the company you’re with and the authentic and cozy atmosphere. When the food did come to our table and I took that first bite, the wait was well worth it. Great food! Great wine! Friendly service! Between waiting for our seat, appetizer, salad, bread, and our entree, we were there for an hour and a half, which wasn’t that bad in my opinion because it gave us plenty of time to talk and enjoy our date.
I like the environment very well but the food is less characteristic and stunning, and overall it is very good.
Great food & atmosphere. Great place for business, anniversary, and birthday meals.
just great as always, food, service, and especially their half off bottle of wine sale on mondays
Our food was delicious! Slightly disappointed that they don't do the fettuccine tableside anymore, but still a delicious dish nonetheless. Service was welcoming and wonderful, had a great first wedding anniversary celebration!
Food was outstanding. We come to Ann Arbor once a year, and were very happy to have found this place. A little weird at first using iPads for menus, but once we got used to it, it was great to see good pics of each menu item. Cant wait to go back!
Very nice atmosphere, comfortable seating, you're not on top of other people eating, the wait staff is solid, it's not loud, and the food was very good.
Food served cold, fish was fishy and old tasting, kitchen backed up for NYC pricing. Not coming back.
Reservation was on-time, staff was awesome and food was great. What more can you ask for on an evening when 100K people are walking aimlessly through the downtown streets of Ann Arbor looking for a restaurant to eat at. A perfect climax to a great day.
Served raw chicken for pollo Marsala. The dish was sent back and a replacement for the same dish was requested. The same food was re-cooked and served back. The dish was taken off the bill. However, I did not expect the same food to be re-served when I requested a fresh replacement. Will never come back.
Gratzi never disappoints!! The food, service and atmosphere are always on point!!
We always enjoy our meals at Gratzi. Good food, lovely atmosphere, good service. We like the Happy Hour is now extended into the dining rooms, too.
Gratzi has great food consistently. Every one in our party of 8 was happy with their meal. The service towards the end of the evening was very slow. Other than that, great meal.
Lots of flies buzzing around spoiled the meal. Come on team. Figure this out!
