Gratzi - Ann Arbor
Ask about our Birthday Meal Deal!
We had a group dinner or 9 people, so a lot of different dishes were ordered and consumed. As usual, the list of food options was terrific, and the individual dishes were excellent. The salads are among the best in any restaurant. The pasta dishes are imaginative and well prepared. I have been eating at Gratzi since it opened, and I can honestly say that I have never had a bad or even mediocre meal there, just really good Italian food.
Very good service and fun time. The service was amazing. Our waiter was very kind. Great food.
Very good service. Nice people
Consensus was the food was not up to your typical standards. Food was too salty. Tuna was not cooked correctly. We asked for and were assured that we could have table in south east corner at front of restaurant. This request obviously was not communicated to the restaurant. Just before we arrived, someone sat down at that table.
First time this year sitting outside in downtown A2. As usual, the street noise is sometimes unbearable (motorcycles, etc.) after 5:00, but Gratzi is Gratzi. Have to go whenever someone is visiting. Little disappointed in the waiter who was sooo attentive and then just disappeared near the end when we wanted the check. Someone else had to help us. Still love the risotto and specialty small pizzas.
Restaurant Week Menu provided many good options for each of 3 courses for an excellent low price.
Overall great experience. Loved the decor, our server was excellent, and the food was fresh and flavorful. We will definitely be returning. I am already planning on going there for my birthday. I very much recommend Gratzi!
My favorite Italian restaurants to go to when in Ann Arbor; they have the best authentic Italian food.
Birthday dinner. Very good filet.
Waited 10 to 12 minutes for a server. Restaurant was almost empty. Another server brought us water in a blue bottle. Basically warm tap water. Server kept repeating 'of course' after every request. Salads were marginal. Meat in the bolognese was dry and weird. Nothing memorable about this place other than the overly pretentious server with his constant 'of course'. Only plus side was the 50% off the bill as it was a birthday. Probably won't go back, if course.
Server was not knowledgeable. It was my Son’s birthday. He specifically wanted to dine here. The filet was very good but my daughter’s farfale was rather bland. Won’t return. You lost me.....
Usually Graz he is is one of my favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor. However, the other night I was extremely disappointed in the service and the food. I had ordered their onion soup and when the server brought it to the table, he managed to spill soup down the sleeve of my blouse and on my coat.
Excellent food and service !! We will continue to go back!
Very turned off by greeting or lack of by hostess, Allison.
We announced our arrival & reservation request for a window table.
Reply was that a lot of people want the same. I commented that it should be first come first serve.
Response was to be ignored!!
We stood & waited about 10 minutes before being acknowledged by a different person.
When we asked our waiter the name of the hostess & expressed or concern, he commented that we were not the first to complain about her. In fact, she was leaving in a few days.
Note to Gratzi’s: interview a hostess without an attitude.
Get someone with a smile & welcoming attitude like the hostess @ The Chophouse @ same time period.
My friend and I stopped in for an early dinner and the food and drinks were amazing! We shared a combination of appetizers, a salad and entree. All were exceptional. They were very helpful at adjusting menu items as I'm vegetarian.
It was a great dining experience! The food was excellent and the service!!
Our food and service were wonderful. My wife had the salmon dish and I had the tuna. We were both very pleased with our meals. The pear salads we had beforehand were very good also.
Service was great. Had to send back my tuna as it was cold. The manager and the severer handled it gracefully and all ended up being good. Reason for 3 stars for food specially was because the dishes are good but not great.
Great dinner at Gratii. The sea bass and spaghetti and meatballs were fabulous.
Gratzi never disappoints. Really a gem in the center of Ann Arbor. Wait staff is top notch and accommodating. Great venue for a special occasion or a delightful evening. Looking forward to our next visit.
Our waiter Edgar was outstanding! However, our reservation was for 7:45 which we arrived exactly on time. We ended up waiting 15 minutes before being seated. 3 other parties came in after us and were seated before our party. Didn't start off that well, but the waiter and the food made up for it.
My Fiance and I had dinner and drinks up on the second floor. The view was amazing as was the service. Do yourself a favor and ask for Alex, what a phenomenal waiter. Very attentive and was working like a machine. Very knowledgeable and had great recommendations. Very happy with the price, very well worth the value.
Went for Mother's Day. This is a favorite of ours but no longer. The service was terrible and the general feel of the place was frenzied and disorganized. Dinner for four was almost 300.00 and we were never even offered dessert or additional drinks. Sadly, off our list of great places in Ann Arbor.
Usually great service was lacking as they were slammed for Mother's Day.
Had a 2:00 o'clock reservation which wasn't honored until 2:20 by a woman with a "take-it-or leave-it" attitude followed by a 15 minute wait to see a waitress.
Food preparation did meet prior experiences at the restaurant: salmon was very fishy suggesting that it was not fresh; steak was tough; lamb chops very fatty. The waiter tried hard, but was very inexperienced.
We generally love this restaurant but the food wasn't as good as usual. The caesar salad tasted like it had mustard in it? The bread, drinks, and ambiance are amazing though.
I had dinner at Gratzi this past Friday with 2 friends. I loved the atmosphere. It is very cozy. I love the staff; they were all very helpful. The food was really tasty. I had the veal parmagiana. It was a nice dish. I highly recommend the restaurant and I will dine there again.
Seating by the window was nice! The waitress was extremely attentive and friendly and went out of her way to take pictures of us for my mom's birthday.
The food was delicious but the server was young and inexperienced. She seemed very "out-of-it" and was distracting to the whole experience. She was nice but somewhat clueless so I'd suggest more training.
We booked a reservation for 10:30AM for the Sunday Brunch at Gratzi to end our celebrations during commencement weekend. Unfortunately when we arrived, we were presented with the dinner menu rather than the brunch menu advertised on the Gratzi website and which we were expecting. We were all looking forward to eggs and French toast and the like, but were instead offered pasta and other heavy entrees. There was an abrupt apology by one staff member, but our options were limited at that point as most restaurants were fully booked for brunch. (Interestingly Gratzi was almost empty - perhaps that should have been a clue?)
Anyway, we made do with pasta and pizzas and the food was good and the server was friendly. But we all left disappointed with the ending to our celebratory weekend.
The pear salad was better than my entree, but my friend was happy with hers. We were there early so perhaps quieter than normal, and may be more action at the very attractive bar later on.
Thank you for making our first wedding anniversary such a memorable experience!
The reviews looked promising and I liked the facility, but I would never recommend this place. Our server made us feel like it was an imposition to have to wait on us. The entrees were not good; my braised beef gave me a stomach ache; my wife’s spaghetti & meatballs was completely bland and tasteless. No amount of salt could wake up the flavor. I can give them props on the tiramisu dessert; but overall the service and the food quality does not match the prices. Dinner for four came to $240. I am happy to spend that much when the food quality warrants it. Sorry I can’t be more positive about the experience. Maybe if the server had made us feel even slightly welcome the overall experience would have felt better.
Menu is on an iPad, which in our case was pretty filthy. Food was just mounds of glop, neither prepared authentically nor inventively. We were looking for an upscale place and this wasn't it.
Very nice restaurant with nice variety of food and excellent service.
