Always a pleasure to spend some time at Grassroots!
Michele(not sure of her spelling) was very patience, helped us if we were trying to get something that wasn't on the menu(brussels sprouts). She was always attentive to make sure everything was okay.
I had a friend in town from Seattle staying nearby and we wanted a good restaurant at a reasonable price. I have been to Grassroots before and enjoyed. My friend had the lobster bisque, trout and shoestring fries. My daughter had the short ribs and I had the blackened redfish and lobster bisque (well, whatever my daughter didn't eat!)
While the bisque didn't have a lot of lobster chunks, the flavor was spot on. The redfish was delish as was the cajun orzo. My daughter loved her ribs too.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Our third time eating here over the last three years. Food was good but not exceptional like I remember in the past.
Very friendly and efficient staff. Food was excellent. Highly recommend.
Business lunch. Great atmosphere, both my client and I really enjoyed our meals. Loved that the ice tea came out in a frozen glass.
Our first visit there was a great one. Delicious food, generous portions, attentive staff- a wonderful meal!
Unfortunately, I had the special (scallops) and spicy grits recommended by the server. The scallops were a bit tough to chew. It was an OK meal but not as good as I usually experience there when ordering salmon.
Great place. Warm friendly. Great food
Went for Father's Day Happy Hour. We used the Happy Hour menu and ordered 3 of the shareable plate items for the 2 of us. Had plenty of food and enjoyed cold beer with the meal.
Would definitely do this again and bring friends. Have never been disappointed with the food or service. Highly recommended!
The food was phenomenal! Definitely enjoyed the salmon and asparagus. The grits were amazing as well!!!
Farmers salad with ahi tuna as an appetizer is the way to go.
I'm only disappointed that electing this restaurant for lunch, didn't result in any OpenTable points. I'll most probably book somewhere else for future lunches back because of it.
Freaking awesome! Great food! Great service.
Overall, a good experience and wonderful ceviche.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere. The pork chop is the best in town.
It was our first visit. We had tasty, interesting food and a fantastic key lime pie. The coffee is served with personal sized cream pitchers. Our server was prompt and very helpful. We will be back.
The food here is very good but . .something always seems OFF . Service is very attentive I suppose I would say I felt rushed. The people at our table were late leaving which is probably why we felt rushed and constantly interrupted to order by the server. I did NOT like my entree side dish and wished I would have asked for a substitution option. Honestly, I think their prices are too high.
Good restaurant food was delicious the service was excellent. We ate outside. The bench we sat on was a little uncomfortable.
4 of us dining and everyone enjoyed meal. Favorite was grits across the board. Shrimp a little spicy in a good way but could have been bigger/better. Brisket (or short rib) sliders were fantastic.
They have great servers and we always enjoy dinning at Grass Roots..
Great as usual
We went here for Restaurant Week. A very solid dinner, with larger portions than many other restaurants. Drinks are done well; service is good. Dishes weren't anything fancy, but hit that comfort food spot. Only thing lacking was that we would have liked a spicier or more vinegary sauce on the ribs; we thought the sauce was too sweet/bland. The best things we had were the poke and the shrimp w/grits.
The service was excellent....but I would expect that since the owner/chef came from Bandera's which has amazing service. The food was good, not great, and I thought that their appetizer menu was rather limited. For our dinner, I had the blackened fish sandwich (they use mahi mahi) and it was good, but not as flavorful as I would like. My husband had their ribs and he thought that they were quite tasty.
Overall, I would recommend it as a great little neighborhood restaurant. We drove 25 miles one way to try it out....I did not think that it was worth a 50 mile round trip.
Our Waitress was awesome and very accommodating. Everything on the menu looked good. The Miso salmon was one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had! Will go again next time in Scottsdale.
Chicken was bland, brownie was sad, almost cake-like.
Wait staff was great, they did their best to remedy a bad night of food. Food was awful. Son and I had brisket, was tough and sent back, replacement brisket was better but the flavor was not great. Wife had a chopped salad that had way too much cabbage and made her stomach upset. 4th in our party had the portobello sandwich and said it was very plain. With so many good restaurants in Scottsdale we have no reason to risk another bad meal at Grassroots!
It’s all good!!
We do our office luncheon's here. We all love the food.
Grassroots food was delicious and memorable! My husband and I are foodies from out of town. We enjoyed two visits for dinner. We enjoyed tasty, well prepared, substantial dishes. We wish we had a restaurant like this in San Antonio!
We visited during Arizona Restaurant Week and a disappointing experience.
I booked a table for 2, inside dining.
We were sat outside, next to people who couldn't leave their two dogs at home while they dined out.
It took 18 minutes to be approached by a member of the wait staff.
Our first course was delicious and was the highlight of the dining experience. We both had the poke and it was very good.
My husband had the ribs and said they were okay but dry. I ordered the shrimp and grits and although the shrimp were good, the grits were very dry.
My husband had to go look for our waiter to get our check and a to-go box.
We had a great experience a few years ago but we will not return after our fiasco.
Solid food and service as usual!
I'm a long-time fan but was very disappointed this past week when we went there for a birthday lunch. Food was fair and not up at all to my many previous experiences. For example, there was an avocado peel in my ahi tuna salad, and the avocado was hard. They also rushed us through our meal.
Grassroots Kitchen has become a favorite stop when we’re in the Phoenix area. Sam was our waiter & he was terrific. The food was fabulous, we split a salad (very fresh), then I had the spit roasted chicken & my husband had the redfish which were both well prepared & delicious.
As a gluten free diner I had a bounty of wonderful choices. When I saw “gluten free buns” on the menu, I asked to have one before dinner with my drink. The kitchen grilled it and it came out fast. Instead of suffering while watching my husband devour the basket of bread, I was able to satisfy my hunger with a savory bun. Bravo Grassroots!
The only negative were the misters that blew cool water on us as we sat outside. This is common everywhere in Scottsdale, even when the temps are comfortable out.
All in all a pleasant & delicious dining experience. We’ll be back!
Very good food. Comfortable outdoor seating. Service was outstanding which was a very pleasant surprise. This was our groups first visit here. Tried a soup, salad, fish sandwich and portabella mushroom sandwich. All very good. Menu offers many more options including fish and ribs.
Food was fantastic, service was superb, the wine was amazing. We appreciate you guys accommodating us 4 plus our pooches, it really made my mom’s mother’s day so much more special to have all of us there. Truly loved our experience here and we will be back for indoor dining during this summer heat!
Was a nice choice for Mother's Day. They also have a dog friendly patio.
Chris is carrying on the family tradition of excellence and if anything improving on it !
We love both Wally's and Grassroots is our favorite. The food is very well prepared and presented, the servers proficient and personable. Grassroots Blackened Redfish is incomparable !
Amare is the best yet, a real gem. I'm not certain where you got her, but I'll bet they feel the loss.
