Grasing’s, located in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, lies along the Pacific Coast in Central California in Monterey County. It is 120 miles south of San Francisco, 70 miles south of San Jose and 350 miles north of Los Angeles.

Brunch is offered every Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 am until 3:00 pm.

Our bar is open seven days a week from 11am until 9:30pm.

We pride ourselves in using sustainable local and organic products. Much of our seafood, meat and poultry are hormone and antibiotic free, brought up humanely in a sustainable environment.

Ordered steak medium which it was but outside was so char/ cooked it was hard. Steak knife pressure was ridiculous to get through!

To be fair been here tons. Love Alex and AAron. Always sit at bar.

But next time please better on my steak.

This was our first time at Grasing's. We choose it because it was ranked high on Trip Advisor and it had abalone on the menu and my husband wanted to try it on this trip to California. We had a wonderful meal. Our server, Talia, was excellent--offered advice on menu items when asked, kept watch on us appropriately, etc. The food that we tried was great--butter lettuce salad, abalone appetizer, herbed halibut special and the lobster mac and cheese. All were excellent. The wine list is extensive but we are not wine experts so that did not make a difference to us. The atmosphere was very nice and elegant--were we were seated was fine and the noise level was minimal. Overall, a great experience!

When family members called and said they had to come to Carmel for a business meeting the next morning, I immediately replied, "GREAT, we'll take you to Grasing's for lunch. Both of our guests are gourmet cooks and agreeable to eat familiar ingredients as well as try new things.

I decided to have a cup of the Potato Leek Soup prior to my crab cakes and let everyone taste it because it was so delicious. Everyone raved about the complex mixture of flavors. My guests ordered three different sandwiches and ended up sharing them as all were well prepared and served at the correct temperatures. Side dishes that come with a sandwich included green salad, quinoa salad, potato salad or fries. Again all were shared because they were prepared perfectly.

Service was excellent as usual - attentive, but not overbearing. Whether it's lunch or dinner, just
yourselves or with family or friends, you will always be happy at Grasing's!

It is exceedingly rare to find a restaurant anywhere that offers the kind of attentive and thoughtful service we received on this visit. Being someone who has various food allergies, I am used to being treated like an inconvenience. Oh how I wish I was just being picky… My food allergies are real and very limiting, so for our server Mike to be so thoughtful, attentive, and to address all of my needs without me even having to ask (because I list all my allergies on my Open table note to the restaurant) he was fully prepared in advance for our arrival, and had alternatives for pretty much every dish they were serving whether it be appetizer, main course, or dessert.

I really cannot stress how rare this sort of attentiveness and compassion is in the service industry; Never once did I feel like I was being treated rudely or thoughtlessly. It was a lovely dining experience and our server really made all the difference. The food was quite good, my only complaint would be that the side servings can be a little on the small side, but other than that, and the really loud noise levels on a full night like Valentine's Day, we have no complaints.

We first tried Grasing for lunch and decided to return for dinner. Extensive wine list. We found one of our favorite wines. The menu is quite varied with beef, pork, seafood and vegetarian options. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. Several diners ate with their hats on — a personal pet peeve in a fine dining restaurant. I would return.

This was my second time at the restaurant, and unfortunately I was disappointed for primarily one reason. Given the price point for most of the dishes, the value just wasn't there.
We started with a grilled artichoke appetizer that was so small it was hardly enough for one person. The crab and onion in the middle were barely visible. The special bone in filet was small for the price and was not very tender. The halibut chosen by my date was ok but not remarkable again given the price.
The evening was somewhat saved by the waiter who did a great job without being overly attentive. The atmosphere of the restaurant although busy that evening was another plus.
Given this overall experience I would not return and will not recommend the restaurant to others.

It had been several years since we dined at Graslings- we are glad we did . the salads were especially fresh and tasty - not over dressed and ample. Good selection on the menu ,and nice service .
will look forward to going again next summer - and to the bar area which appeared to be lively ,but low key.

Two friends celebrating birthdays and visiting Carmel. Researched ahead of time and decided Grasings would be a perfect fit. Couldn’t have been more right! The ambiance was warm and inviting, the staff were all exceptionally friendly and attentive, wine was wonderful, food was exceptional! They treated us to Two desserts for our birthdays. We couldn’t have been happier!

Very thoughtful service, excellent food and surprisingly nice ambiance- cozy- great lighting. Can’t wait to return. Portions in the large size - which in my experience is unusual for such good food and presentation. Could have split each entree.

Went for first time. Celebrating our Anniversary.
The table setting, service , wine list and food were all terrific.
We had the onion rings (small portion) as a starter - maybe better as a side with a steak main course. Steaks were cooked as requested, very good!
Wine assistance was wonderful - Chris was a big help in choosing the wine.
Nice touch was the celebatory dessert they did for us!

Definitely will return soon!

My wife and I came to Carmel for a birthday weekend. Ask the concierge if she knew of a good steakhouse. She recommended Grasing.I had an excellent steak. It will be on my list to eat every time we come to Carmel!

This was a great place for our birthday dinner. Having mentioned our birthdays on the reservation, there was a small decoration on the table, the server wished us a happy birthday, and the dessert we chose was on the house! The pork chop was out of this world and we enjoyed dinner seated by the window, which was an added plus. It was lively, but not so loud that you couldn't comfortably converse.

Hostess wanted to seat us at a 4 top table, I’ve worked in the industry and said we have no problem sitting at a 2 top since we are only 2 people. And she kind of gave us attitude as if we were the ones being picky when we were trying to respect the busy restaurant.

Also not sure why the Restaurant Told open table that we did not show up for our reservation.

Food was delicious, lobster Mac was good. Gin was tasty

Grasing's was delightful! The food was absolutely terrific and their wine by the glass selection was excellent. Our special occasion was a get together of 6 old and dear friends. The hostess decorated the table with little silver cut-outs. Several of us had a salmon ceasar salad which included a hunk of salmon that was perfectly prepared and very generous. The meal was over the top delighted!

We ordered Calamari n Crab Cakes for Apps, follpwed by Chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and Fish of the day.
All the dishes were perfectly made, tasted yumm! And left us wanting for more, although our stomachs were full. We succumbed to the desert menu n ordered the apple caramel pudding that was super moist n delish. I paired fish n calamari with a Reisling from Del Terra, Monterey that balanced all the flavors well.
In all a very satisfying experience.
Will come again, if in the area!
