Celebrity chef partners, Kurt Grasing and Narsai David, truly created a gem. Fancifully designed in warm hues and modern art work, Grasing’s sets the stage for entertaining that is at once festive and intimate. From friendly and professional service, an award winning wine list and seasonally inspired cocktails to the fresh and sustainable local ingredients are only a few reasons why Grasing’s still receives rave reviews from the press.
Great restaurant. The food and service is always the best. Outstanding for dinner. Jerry
Another quaint restaurant in Carmel. It has a great ambience and the service was excellent. The meal was very good, but not great.
We ate here both nights we were in Carmel. While the wine list is a tad overwhelming and can even be intimidating, Mark, our waiter, did a great job pairing our meals with a bottle of wine that was just eeking out of the reasonable range and made the entire dinner fabulous.
The duck was excellent along with the salmon special (pinot noir) and the steaks (bone in ribeye and new york) were very tender, cooked to perfection and went well with the Cab blend picked out for us.
The portions are ample, so while the prices may seem substantial, so are the plates and the tastiness. No one left hungry. Definitely on our "to back to" list next time in Carmel.
Expensive Mistake. In deciding to dine at Grasing's, we focused on the 5-star raves, not the 1- and 2-star pans and that was an expensive mistake. If we were handing out grades: C- food (poorly prepared and/or presented; bland, bland, bland; dishes that presumably were intended to be hot were lukewarm (even the coffee)), D+ service (worse than indifferent), B+ ambiance (beautiful, but noisy). The next table ordered one of the same appetizers as we did. Theirs arrived in a beautiful presentation, ours looked and tasted like sludge - lukewarm sludge. Maybe the heavy tourist traffic in Carmel allows this place to be hit-and-miss (even for diners on the same evening) and not suffer the consequences. Our experience was definitely a miss. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Carmel -- pick any of them over Grasing's.
Staff service and food are always excellent. Ira and Aaron are T.H.E best bartenders on the Central Coast!
Went to Grasings to celebrate an anniversary. Such a wonderful atmosphere. The GM personally congratulated us and ensured that everything was up to par. The food is superb. The wine and drink menu is great with a lot of options.
Celebrated our 25th anniversary here. Great food, great service and fantastic wine list. We’ll be back for sure.
It was great but for the dog next table. It told to us it was a service dog but it was clear it was not. I am sure if I bought a toddler even if well behave people would not like.
This restaurant is my favourite in Carmel. Everyone working there seems happy to be there, they understand customer service. The food is delisious! They make you feel welcome!
We really like this restaurant but wish they (along with other restaurants) would start using black napkins instead of white. Three of us were wearing black and were covered with white lent.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Grasings. The service was excellent. We enjoyed a calamari appetizer (free with our stay at Wayside Inn), salad, pork chop, paella, and cookie dessert. I loved the pork chop and my husband thought the seafood paella was only ok. However we did enjoy our meal and thought the restaurant was lovely. Great place for a night out in Carmel. We will be back!
This was a return visit and our 40th anniversary. A prime rib special was offered and we agreed it was the best we have ever enjoyed. We visited a bit with diners on both side of our table. We enjoy this but I know some don’t so know the tables are close. The wine was good but I will try to bring my own in the future. We’ll be back.
Food and service were terrific. Loved the warm canbage salad, polenta w burrata and mushrooms, the pork chop, and the duck. Desert was smalll and lacluster compared to dinner. Service was exceptional.
Great local Carmel Restaurant! Xcellent food with an emphasis on meat.
Outta this world wine list with most regions and countries well represented.
The staff was on top of it and very personable.
It is always a destination for the family when in town from San Francisco.
Great food, service and ambiance.
Top notch in every respect...just go and enjoy...guaranteed!!
Outstanding as usual.
We had a fabulous time. Good food. Great ambience
Great, everything was perfect‼️
Had an excellent meal at Grasing's this holiday week. We all started with the chicken orzo soup, which was terrific, and then my mom and sister had filet mignon while I had the swordfish special. Those were all excellent. We then closed with crème brule for my mom and sister and a chocolate cookie cake for me, which was wonderfully evil! It was a busy evening, so it did take a while for our entrees to show up, but they were worth the wait. Hope we get to go back!
Birthday celebration was made very special for my spouse. Food was excellent
Beautiful higher end restaurant with delicious food and a great cozy ambiance. Highly recommend if your looking for a nice date night place or for special occasions.
Truly superlative levels of service at every turn. Every single associate was engaging and dedicated to our enjoyment. A rare level of service perfection.
Whenever we are in Carmel, we always make sure we find time to have dinner at Grasing’s. Food, service, ambiance-excellent, even on a very busy night, Christmas eve. We had mini “paella” for appetizer, the veal chop and herb crusted sea bass for main, and creme brulee and almond cake for dessert. Everything was good, wonderful selection of wines. Looking forward to go back to Grasing’s again!
Great ambiance. Excellent service. Wine was excellent. Food was above average but too pricy.
This was our first visit to Grasings and it won't be the last. The service was impeccable, with our server suggesting the perfect wine to go with our meals. I am gluten free and there were plenty of delicious options. The food is very fresh and the preparations are outstanding!
A great date night restaurant. Service sublime. Food wonderful
The staff were very inattentive. For example, half way through our meal we ran out of beverages. No one ever brought us water or asked us if we needed more to drink. Our food was also under seasoned. One person ordered the veal chop and it was served with the kitchen twine still attached. Upon leaving, we walked right by several staff, including the manager, and no one could be bothered to thank us or wish us well.
We went for brunch this past Sunday. The menu was interesting and creative. Our crab Benedict was delicious but served at just room temperature, which was disappointing. Same with a half cup of latte. At this price point, someone needs to monitor what is coming out of the kitchen more carefully.
Too expensive for what it was. Food was good, not excellent. Service was poor.
We had a great light dinner... our server was attentive and we enjoyed it so much! We wish we had been hungrier... the food was delicious!
Our go to place in Carmel! Especially love to have lunch on the patio.
It was my birthday and from start to finish there were extra special treats such as a card and table glitter, birthday greetings from the staff and a yummy candle-light dessert to share. I wouldn’t mind returning each birthday!
Great restaurant. Service was exceptional. Highly recommend. German is an amazing chef!
Ambiance, service, quality..
Michael our server was knowledgeable, professional. He took great care of my family and was gracious and kind to my daughter. He is a great asset to the company.
Great service. Great food
I have been to Grasing's many times in the last 10+ years. I have recommended it often. However, I was disappointed this time which was embarrassing because I brought friends who were also disappointed. The service was painfully slow. The food was mediocre and expensive. My petrale sole was over seasoned but cooked properly. But the biggest disappointment was Kurt's Four Onion Tart which has been a favorite. The tart barely resembled tarts I have enjoyed there. It was small. The pastry was a soggy, greasy mess. It was visually unappealing. The filling barely came up half the depth of the pastry. I may go again but I won't recommend it.
