The restaurant is quite nice inside. The service was ok considering they looked understaffed. As for the food I would have to say that it was poor to just mediocre.
It's to bad because I really wanted to like it because it was our Anniversary. The Filet I ordered was tasteless. The so called vegetables were soggy and not edible.
Like I said I really wanted to enjoy our time there and after spending $600.00 + there we won't be returning. By the way when I asked to speak to the Executive Chef about how could he have let such a dish out of his kitchen? His response was "I just started here" WHAT??? I think that sums up my evening....
We went to Grazings for a nice birthday dinner while visiting the Monterey area, food and drinks were great and the waiters were very attentive and not overbearing. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner but being a very small restaurant it’s hard not to over hear the conversations of other diners which could sometimes be a little bit too much. Overall we had a great experience and will return to the restaurant when visiting the area again.
New Chef Cal is taking it to another level. Can't wait for the new fix price options.
The BEST brunch ever. Crab Benedict !!! I can't wait to return.
After a spectacular weekend at Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, we stopped at Grasing's for lunch on the drive home. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch. The service was wonderful, and the food and wine equally terrific. We will be back in Carmel the week of November 8, and will most likely return to Grasing's, next time for dinner.
Although we hit a snag with some rain and we happened to be sitting outside the restaurant was very accommodating. The food was astounding.
Outstanding food and service. Massive wine list. Best restaurant in Carmel?
Loved the red cabernet wine paired with the steak was amazing, as well as the bread pudding!
Go to place in Carmel for special occasions, they never disappoint.
We have given numerous trys over the past years and again they fail. The hostess tried to put us at a table right in the middle of the passage way when there was no one in the dinning room. The server had to be asked if there were any specials. After the meal which was ok not great, but after the meal we sat at our table for what seemed like 20 minutes before our server returned. Overall just not that great.
Great outdoor seating
The food and service was excellent. They were very busy but kept us informed when our table would be ready. The hostess did a great job! We will definitely return on our next trip to Carmel!
Service was excellent, food was great and the wine was perfect. We split the heirloom tomato salad and Chicken Club, both very tasty.
Excellent, noisy table of six were too loud for this room
Our waiter, Brian, was outstanding
Our experience at Grasings was ruined by two factors. The first is their apparent disregard for Covid protocols. Our server and others were wearing “chin masks”. Masks worn below the nose and mouth are not face masks. And, our table was within one arm length of the table next to us - no social distancing. I had to ask the table next to us if they were vaccinated.
Secondly, service was very poor. Our glass of wine was delivered as I was taking the last bite of my entree. A meal with out wine is not he same.
This is was our first and last visit to Grasings.
Pleasant and great service but the room being in the back was not great. Understandably we were placed there because one of our party was in a wheelchair we had to accept being near the disabled entrance. But waitstaff very attentive, and food very good and we had a good evening.
Food was good but felt a little rushed to order and get out. At these prices I like to linger. Our waiter had many tables snd 2 were large groups - so felt I needed to yell at him when he scooted by because no eye contact from him. Would like to see the menu with a little more variety and at least one pasta special every night. We’ve eaten here for years but now think we will make this our go to lunch place and try somewhere else for dinner.
We wanted to take our elderly parents to Carmel for the day and started with a wonderful lunch at Grasings! They absolutely loved it and couldn’t say enough wonderful things about your food, service, and ambiance!
Mike made our experience even more special with his warm and friendly personality!
Best prime rib around!! Eric the Sommelier was knowledgeable and helpful….
Excellent food and fun outdoor location on a sunny afternoon!
Our lunch was outstanding. It was my friend’s birthday and when we arrived there was confetti on the table and a birthday card from Mr. Grasing himself! Our server was great and had amazing cocktail recommendations. The food was also perfect. Great afternoon and they made the occasion special!!
Birthday dinner. Manager was very helpful with encyclopedic wine list. Couldn’t have had a better experience!
Everything was great!
We had a cozy table for two on a quiet patio to celebrate a anniversary. The wait staff was attentive and unobtrusive serving a delightful meal. Don't miss the calamari appetizer. For a salad course the roasted beet salad would actually make a nice, light lunch. Our two small dogs joined us and were welcome, with the wait staff pointing out available pads and water and bowls we could use that they couldn't touch for food safety reasons. Overall a wonderful experience.
I would go back here again. Really great flavors,
Check in was smooth and we were offered the choice of two tables. Service was slow, but that seems to be the norm with staffing difficulties during Covid. The real issue was the food quality. I ordered Prime Rib medium rare which was the special of the day. What was serviced was not medium rare at all but well done. I considered sending it back which is something I never do; but honestly was hungry and with the service so slow any replacement was sure to be at least 30-40 minutes out. Very disappointing.
We had a lovely meal and we sat next to a couple that turned out to be from Miami as we are. We had a lot of comments and it was fun to talk to them while eating really good food.
Mike and the team were great at finding my wife sweet wine and taking care of my sons birthday.
All the food, service, and wine was top notch.
Truffle fries were a winner with kid.
We will be back for more good food!
Nice place but food was very mediocre. And for the price, I definitely would not go back. Had peach salad and pork chop.
We've been to Grasing's many times over the years and it was always great. Our recent lunch was extremely disappointing. My husband ordered the salmon special which was dry and flavorless. The accompanying vegetables were not as advertised and overcooked. The chicken on my chicken club sandwich was bland and difficult to eat because the bread was too soft to support the sandwich. There are so many options to choose from in Carmel so sorry to say we will not be returning.
We were going there for our Anniversary and got there early for drinks at the bar. Great selection of spirits and wine at the bar. Great service and seating.
We were seated with a great view at a front window that was decorated for an anniversary, seated next to other “special occasion “ tables for birthdays. Great touch!
The wine selection came with a three inch thick binder of choices, which was amazing. Appetizers were excellent, as well as the main dish and sides. Dessert was excellent and came with a wide selection of after dinner drinks.
We never felt ignored or hovered over and never needed to ask for anything, so the waiter was perfect!
Can’t wait to go back again!!!!
I requested outdoor dining, however I didn’t know it was going to be down the street. I understand the difficulties restaurants are experiencing being fully staffed during COVID-19, but the wait for service and our meal made it an unpleasant experience.
It was great! They made it special for our anniversary!
Charcuterie plate was excellent. Staff tried as best they could, but they were visibly understaffed as each table in our section commented on how slow they were attended to.
Our 2nd time having dinner here in the past year and both times everything has been amazing. For this most recent visit, the Flavors, creativity, food temperature, attention to detail were all extraordinary. The service was extremely pleasant, prompt and attentive. Highly recommended
A great local place that really caters to groups with dogs and also has exceptional food and service.
Nothing bad, but nothing out of the ordinary. Got there right when it opened so service was fast.
Very disappointing. This was our 20th anniversary and we booked this way in advance. We requested a nice table and noted it was a special anniversary. We were seated in a not-special table next to the server station. It took 20 minutes to get water, 45 minutes to get our cocktails. We started with the onion tart which was good but took an hour to get. In the section we were in, the staff brought bread to others but no one offered it to us. I ordered the lobster tail and the Filet and Chophouse chips. My husband ordered the Ribeye. The lobster was over cooked and very chewy. Also hard to remove from the shell. The Filet and Chophouse chips was not edible at all. It didn’t seem like filet, it was gristle and hard chewy pieces that seemed like overcooked scraps of fat. The chips were so greasy. I actually bit into something hard in the meat. The ribeye was good but the service and rest of the dinner were very disappointing. Very surprised they would treat a long time customer this way who was celebrating a milestone anniversary. After this disappointing experience, we probably will not be returning since there are so many great places to go in Carmel.
We expected excellence and it was mediocre. My husbands steak was over cooked and my veggies were ice cold. The corn chowder was good. Not going back.
