Celebrity chef partners, Kurt Grasing and Narsai David, truly created a gem. Fancifully designed in warm hues and modern art work, Grasing’s sets the stage for entertaining that is at once festive and intimate. From friendly and professional service, an award winning wine list and seasonally inspired cocktails to the fresh and sustainable local ingredients are only a few reasons why Grasing’s still receives rave reviews from the press.
If you will be dining with your four legged friend guests are invited to enjoy the heated patio, where your pooch will be pampered with cushy beds and are invited to order off the doggie menu. Please contact the restaurant to request patio seating.
WOW!! Had a lovely evening!! Great food; service was attentive but nit overbearing. Our server Michael was wonderful this definitely one our new go to restaurants!!
While, I have had lunch here on the outside patio, it was my first experience at dinner. The restaurant has a lively vibe and the hostess and servers are all very professional, but still warm and friendly.
My friend and I shared the Paella to start, then each had salads, and loved the Sole special as our entrees. The food was perfect and honestly we both felt it was one of the best fish entrees we ever had. The Sancerre was a great pairing with every dish. Will be returning more often and next time will try a dessert!
The only downside was that as two women diners, we were seated in an isolated corner in the back.
Everything is perfect, they accommodated as so well
Very poor entree choices...especially at exhorted prices. Not what it was a few years ago.
One of our favorite places in Carmel. However, we ordered Cod Filet over pasta and grilled prawns over pasta. The seafood were cooked nicely, but the pasta in both dishes had too much oil. The cod filet was also very thin, and a small piece.
We will likely return because of wonderful previous experiences, but these dishes need work.
Dinner with friends was good but not great, which is what is expected at this price point. Duck appetizer was wonderful, but skirt steak was uninteresting. Good corkage policy.
Very good food. Always a good choice for an excellent meal.
We celebrated our anniversary at Grasing. They were awesome. We even got a personal card from them. Food was outstanding.
We had a great dinner experience at Grasing’s. The food was excellent with lots of options. Service was impeccable from the bartender, waiter, and general manager. I only noted noise level as slightly noisy because our table was probably one of (ok, the only) noisy table. Only due to the fact that we were having such a fun dining experience! I would recommend Grasing’s to any friend traveling to the Carmel area.
Best Salmon ever.
My guest fishes in Alaska at his lodge and prepares catch for his guests. He is a chef.
He agreed that this is the best tasting Salmon.
Well done Kurt Grasing.
My other guest brought a large group in later.
great. definitely will go back. great food and service without being pretentious.
Great dinner, as usual Kurt Grassing is an excellent Chef
The food was okay but my party of four was put next to a raucously loud table of eight. We could hardly hear ourselves talk. Management should have offered to move us but I had to request that we be moved, which they did with apologies.
I ordered a bone-in ribeye and I got a dry, flavorless piece of meat with no bone. That waitress said they recently changed the supplier of their steaks and the should have changed the description on the menu. For the prices they charge this was a big mistake.
There are so many good restaurants in Carmel and this is not one of them.
We ordered the onion rings as an appetizer which were highlighted at the top of the menu, but they were totally overdone. I feel like they could have been at any bar/restaurant, there was nothing special about them. The server recommended the paella, said it was their specialty. It really was bad. It was incredibly soupy and bland. I didn’t taste the saffron at all. Honestly, it felt like it was canned tomatoes poured over some rice and seafood. I would not recommend this restaurant at all.
We were celebrating an Anniversary. They put us in the back room, close to the noisy kitchen. The staff seemed to be in a chaotic frenzy the whole night. They put random ingredients into my sea bass dish. It called for bacon and spinach, in which I found none. Rather, it contained onions and bok choy. When I questioned the waiter, he looked stumped and didn’t know what to say. It took them 25 minutes to bring out the correct dish, and again it was wrong. It was a painful 3 hours to sot
The food was marginal with no unique flavors. Abalone was a joke and the artichoke with crab had literally no crab. I would never bother with this restaurant again.
My veal chop was ordered medium, came out very rare. My wife's filet mignon was tasteless. Service was just okay. I think that if you are not a "local" they don't pay much attention to you. Would not recommend, try another restaurant.
This was THE BEST restaurant we could have picked for our night out in Carmel, CA! Very cozy atmosphere, visually quite peaceful, comfortable bar with great cocktails, and so many tempting tapas plates to choose from! Next came dinner in the dining room: Our waiter, Richard, was exquisite -- embodied the Platonic Form for The Perfect Waiter. Responsive, mature, and giving. Our sommelier, Ryan, was so knowledgeable and knew exactly where to steer our selection based on what we said we were looking for. What a joy! And, yes, the food was fabulous: cooked to perfection, served with love, each bite a delight. Will we go back -- if only Carmel was just around the corner, we'd become regulars!
Wonderful, made reservations for next week.
Love this place! The food is delicious and the service is always excellent.
We celebrated our anniversary there and they treated us to a very special evening! There was a card and heart confetti on the table greeting us at arrival. The food, wine and service were spectacular and I highly recommend dining there when in town. You will not be disappointed.
Romantic sweet had the duck loved it. My husband had the paella and lived that too.
Great restaurant, we really enjoyed the food and service. Romantic spot for our last night in Carmel. Highly recommend Grasing’s!
Lovely! Deliciously creative.
If you choose to eat here, don’t book via Opentable. They will assume your a “tourist” and seat you in the “add-on” area, which lacks atmosphere/ambience (but they will of course still charge you the ultra high prices for the slightly above mediocre food).
We celebrated my 50th birthday dinner here on the recommendation of our concierge at the Hyatt Highlands. It was an excellent suggestion and we could not have enjoyed our experience more. My filet mignon was one of the best steaks I’ve had and the cheese and charcuterie plate was wonderful. Our waiter was lovely and charming and made our experience so special. We will definitely go back when we are in the Carmel area again.
Service impeccable! Food excellent- even people dining at next table were great.
When we are next in Carmel will go again for sure.
Lovely evening thanks to attentive service, relaxing atmosphere and good food. Wine selection is over the top!
Great service, food and always a satisfying experience.
We were there for our 38th anniversary. The staff was great as was the food. I very much recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Great food, great attentive staff! Very nice atmosphere in a quiet & beautiful setting.
Service was very very slow. We were there for about 2.5 hours, for two courses. We were refilling our own wine glasses from the bottle, as servers kept walking by without noticing they needed filling. Food was very good, but not very original. Expect more for the price.
Very disappointing. It was a surprise birthday celebration which I reminded the hostess when we arrived, she seated us at a table for 3 even though the reservation was for 4, then removed a place setting. When the rest of the party arrived, she told them we weren't there. When we had to move to a new table, she made no attempt to pick up our menus or water glasses--watched us take care of them. Service was very slow, had the dessert menu, but our waiter never returned to take our order. We did appreciate the offer to taste different wines before selecting our wine. I have eaten here in the past, it was a very different experience than this time.
Very nice, upscale, good food
Awesome anniversary dinner. The chief gave us a hand written congratulations letter which was super cool. Staff was very kind to our 1.5 year old son. Thank you for a special night.
First time there and it was wonderful Great food outstanding wine selection
Friendly professional service Can’t wait to go back
Wonderful all around!
Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Abend mit einem tollem Essen. Danke für den guten Service. Immer gerne wieder.
My Fiancee and I were celebrating our engagement and the restaurant treated us so well. The table had little heart sprinkled all over it and there was a note from the Chef congratulating us. The food was amazing!! We shared the oyster appetizer and the wedge salad. The oysters were so fresh and delicious. For our main entree, we shared the 9oz filet and the lobster tail. We will be going back there for sure.
We dined upstairs. It was very nice.
The service was not great this evening. We have fined many times at Grassing’s; all other times has been perfect. Maybe a off night for the server/service.
