Grappa Italian Bistro & Wine Bar, in the Lakewood neighborhood of Denver, crafts contemporary Italian cuisine with a few delightful continental dishes included in its charming and relaxing eatery. The Grappa mini crab cakes with lemon basil and tomato beurre blanc and the shrimp and lobster salad with French cocktail sauce make superb starters. Some of Grappa Italian Bistro & Wine Bar's specialty entrée dishes include the striped bass en papillotte with lemon pastis beurre blanc, the tagliatelle a la Bolognese egg pasta in a rich meat sauce and the canard a l'orange French duck in an orange and peach Grand Marnier sauce. If you stop by for brunch, you can enjoy such dishes as the Caprese frittata with fresh mozzarella and pesto hollandaise sauce and the seasonal fruit-studded French toast.
When the weather allows, be sure to grab a seat on the stunning outdoor patio.
We love sitting on the outside patio. We were there just as the sun set, which was great. But it was very very dark after that. It would be helpful to have more appropriate lighting on the patio and even candles on each table so you can at least see what you are eating.
Other than that, we all enjoyed our food.
Great local restaurant! We have been there many times and will continue to go there.
Arrived at 5:45. Had to ask if we could make our drink order at 6:00. Bread arrived at 6:15, appetizers arrived at 6:45. Told the waiter we had concert at 7:30. Had to rush through dinner. Only guests inside, though maybe some on porch deck?
When we looked at the menu online, it listed several tapas-type items. Unfortunately, these were not on the actual menu. We sat and waited at our table for a server to approach while other customers who arrived after us already had begun to receive their food. When we finally got a server, she was great! Very personable and efficient. We enjoyed the food very much, and the outside patio was comfortable.
Fine entrees the shrimp gnocchi and mushroom risotto were spiced and prepared to perfection!
Sitting on the Grappa deck gazing at the creek can't be beat!
We had high expectations but ended up very disappointed. The food did not come close to their descriptions or their cost. The noise of the staff ruined the atmosphere. We were the only diners but the level of talking ruined any possibility of an intimate meal.
We and another couple enjoyed dinner here before a concert Sunday evening. Our service was excellent. Even though a mistake was made, it was immediately corrected with a new entree to replace it. We had a very nice dining experience and were on our way to the show on time. I would say Grappa is nice and a good place for dinner, albeit a bit pricey.
Grappa's is my favorite place to eat. I just love the food and drinks and service. The deck on the river is the best.
nice outside dinning, great meal and view of the river. Cheers!
Girls night out on a recent summer evening. We sat outside overlooking river. Food was excellent with generous portions. Took another group back there today for brunch which was also good. No waits for an outside table either visit. Highly recommend.
The bouillabaisse was just OK -- plenty of fish but no saffron, and a little sweet (tomato bisque?). The Caesar salad was not actually a Caesar but a romaine salad with croutons. Also just OK. My wife had the steak and enjoyed it very much. The red wine was a bit warm but an excellent choice for a house wine. In other words Grappa could be excellent if they just tried to up their food quality a little bit.
Happy hour deals are not deals - overpriced food and cocktails.
Fantastic place run by pros! Great food! Nice bar!
All of us enjoyed our dinners & were so glad to have introduced Grappa to our grandgirl, a Mines student...she said that it is her favorite restaurant & will always request it when asked where she wants to eat!
Great food! It was during restaurant week. We weren't able to select from the main menu. Place wasn't full. However would like to try again.
Chose Grappa because of menu and quiet ambience. We weren't disappointed.
Everything is excellent. We have been to this location over 25 times and it is consistently good. The piano music sets an exceptional atmosphere when it is played. The wine menu needs to provide less expensive alternatives. The lowest priced Pinot Noir or Chianti was $39.
Spur of the moment decision, but very pleased!
There were 8 of us that went for dinner. The menu offered a variety of dishes. The wine selections were lovely. Our server was quiet, but quite efficient.
My steak came out a bit too rare (I usually order it medium-rare). The chef brought it back out & apologized to me & asked if I needed anything else. Very kind - did not act like I offended him at all.
Desserts were all phenomenal!
Would go back & recommend!
Great setting right along Clear Creek. Perfect for late afternoon tapas and wine outdoors. Main meals are quite a bit expensive for simple pasta dishes. Have eaten both indoor and out, service always great, food is good, just too expensive.
Food was good, wine list a bit pricey but service & food was good
