A great first time visit. Great mussels and an even better selection of Belgian and local brews you can’t find elsewhere. We will be back with friends!
Mussels were FANTASTIC! Great beer selection, super friendly staff.
Wow, this was good! Mussels and fries are a classic, and with 5 different preparations, there was way more choice than I expected. Combine that with the attentive, friendly service, and Granville Moores is a definite winner.
This was alas minute Mother’s Day Reservation. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Decor is very rustic, but the food was great. We would go again when in the area. Oh, and they gave the Mother’s in our party a glass of complimentary champagne.
Been coming here for years, this was by far the worst service we've had...very pretentious, and somewhat rude. Food was still good...mussels great as always, burger was mediocre (cooked nearly well done, waitress didn't ask as they usually do so I guess I assumed it would be medium, I shouldn't have assumed that), fries were very good as always. Brussel sprouts appetizer was nice, had not tried that before.
Bluntly, the “steak and cheese sandwich” was chewy beef and not good. My date ordered the mussels, however, which were spectacular.
Mussel were amazing and very delicious. I was a little disappointed about the Frites. They were lukewarm but overall my experience was great.
The muscles were fabulous as what is the beer selection. The service was quick and fun. I can’t wait to go back
Granville Moore's is a staple in DC. The mussels are amazing. Its a great place to try unique beers as well.
I had the mussels in blue cheese, felt that the sauce was a little heavy. French fries were very seasoned. Overall, the food and ambiance were good, but there was a bit too much seasoning for my taste.
We took old friends visiting from out of town on a Sunday night. It was perfect - we had a table by the window; the food was excellent, the beer was great, and the setting was just right.
The restaurant needed more staff for Sunday brunch. Took over 30 minutes to get our order taken, then another 30 to get our food.
Brunch at Granville Moore’s is always delicious. I’ve tried several of their brunch menu items and have not gone wrong with any of them. Definitely order the sausage! I don’t know what’s in them, but they are amazing! Chicken and waffles - delicious; French fries - delicious; Bloody Mary - delicious; every item on the menu - delicious!
My husband and I tried this place at a friend's recommendation. We really liked the wings appetizer, as well as our beers. We thought the mussels were okay, but not as good as some other places we've been. We ordered the frites, and while they were good, they were not served with the sauces that we ordered (and they were supposed to come with). My mussels were supposed to have sausage in the sauce and there was none in the entire pot. Our waiter tried to point out the sausage to me, putting his finger close to my food (pointing out mushrooms not sausage) and poured beer all over my foot. Overall, we did not enjoy the experience and will stick with our favorite places for mussels.
Fast friendly knowledgeable staff perfectly made mussels
Authentic Belgian atmosphere. I enjoyed the biere mussels with sausage, bread and frites. Wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable about beer selection. The leftover broth was packaged to go and then reinvented as a sauce for roasted squash - yum! Looking forward to another visit, maybe next Tuesday...
Food was ok. I had been here before and had loved it. This time, not so much.
My potatoes were a bit cold and coffee was terrible.
My boyfriend had a burger, and for its size, it was overly expensive, the thing was tiny.
I had great experiences here, so this may have been a random worse experience.
In DC? Must stop by for great food in a relaxing setting.
Mussels on point! Beer fantastic as always!
Great frites with very good dipping sauces (could use some more options or maybe some rotating sauce specials? Andoulouse peut-être?), locally sourced and selected mussels in simple sure-fire sauces served with perfect baguette. Best Belgian waffles I've had in the US. A straightforwardly dreamy beer menu with lots of localish Abbey-style brews. Charmingly unassuming atmosphere and kind service nails down the Belgian vibes.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Washington, DC. I've lived in the neighborhood for 8 years and still try to make it to Granville Moore's multiple times a year. It's great for having a nice long meal with drinks. You can order group bowls of mussels and catch up over some good beers! The ambiance is cozy and casual, the food is great, and the staff have always been awesome.
went with high expectations for great mussels, but the portion was small for the price, and the flavor was bland. Also an unusually high amount of closed mussels in my friends order.
Service was great however, and very attentive. However, it did feel like they were trying to turn over the tables as quickly as possible which is a bit of a downer on the mood to feel rushed.
Food was solid. The burger I got was very good, and while the fries were seasoned well, they were lukewarm when I received them.
The service on the food left something to be desired. We were seated in the front near the bar and the bartender left the bar to take our order. We both ordered a burger with fries, and asked for ketchup and mustard on the side. When the food came, it came alone, no napkins and no condiments. After a few attempts, I was able to get what we needed, but it took some time. I know this place is a bar first but for the price point (our burgers+fries were $16 each) I kind of expected better service.
I'll probably come back, but I'll stick to drinks and apps rather than entrees.
Mussels were the best part - everything else was over priced and not very good. The fries were just bad - hand cut but covered in way to much salt and grease. Never thought I'd be picky about freaking french fries, but was sold hard on them and just felt like I'd wasted my money. All other food was good, but nothing that would make me want to go back.
However, I will go back, order more mussels, drink more beer, and try some other stuff on the menu.
Wonderful experience, and phenomenal food!
Best mussels anywhere! And the Trappist beer options are the best! Definitely worth going on all you can eat mussels night! Truffle fries are amazing. You can't get anything bad to eat here.
Amazing food, amazing service, per usual at this joint!
I usually love Belgian bars but this was significantly more rustic than I'd anticipated for a casual business meal. Excellent beer selection but be prepared for strong opinions about what to choose if you are unfamiliar. Food menu is somewhat limited and not great for vegetarians.
The Belgian beers on draft + bottled ones. Mussels, double burgers, steak au poivre, cod fish of the day special were all outstanding! Great dinner after the show at Atlas Performing Arts Center. Tables and bar seating on both levels.
Chrissy was amazing! She recommended we put brisket on the gnocchi, and it was amazing! She then recommended the Dr. Pepper of Belgian beers and we all liked it. We enjoy all the mules and frites. And Chrissy even had the kitchen make my boyfriend frites topped with brisket. We loved it and will be back soon!
Excellent mussels and hand cut fries. Great beer selection. Looking forward to my next meal at GM’s!
Went here knowing my friends loved it an I love mussels. 4 of us. Overdressed. For a play after.
Felt weird. Had no reason. They helped us get a larger table as the chairs were feeling tight wearing a sport coat. Service was attentive and suggestions well played. Mussels are can’t miss. Salad starter was great surprising treat. Highly recommend. Great spot on H. Stop in.
Service was awful because the bartender/ server was a complete jerk. He acted like he was better than everyone else. The past 2 times I have visited, the wait staff has been extremely unfriendly.
Smelled bad. Quality of food has dropped a bit.
Hole in the wall/dive bar vibe. This is an H-street corridor gem! Hit this place up for their Monday night muscle deal! I keep coming back to try all their different seasonings/broths.
As usual, the mussels at GM's were perfect. And the NY Strip steak was surprisingly good. What a great night out with table service that could not have been better--just the right mix of friendly conversation and leaving us be for a date night dinner.
Took about 40 minutes to get our appetizers but the food was great.
I lived in Belgium for a few years, and I love Belgian food. But with the number of good Belgian restaurants in the DC area, I hadn't been to Granville Moore's in several years. Mistake. It's a great place. The sort of "basement bistro" atmosphere It has is something a lot of Belgians would find familiar and really enjoy. The service is a mix between attentive and a bit rough-hewn that reminds me of many simple neighborhood restaurants in Belgium. The food is excellent. Lots of mussel possibilities, lots of sauces, good frites. Liege waffles for dessert! Also some good takes on American pub grub for those who'd prefer that. The Belgian beer selection, a lot of it on tap, is simply superb. Truly one of the best in the region.
A suggestion to the management: this is the kind of restaurant that, in Belgium, would offer stoemp, a simple but often fabulous potato and vegetable dish. I miss it. I wish more Belgian restaurants here offered it. I feel confident that if Granville's found a good recipe for it, people would love it. Including me. They'll get over their lack of familiarity with it quickly.
Great service and the mussels were excellent!! Our server was quite helpful and made some great beer suggestions. I would definitely return here!
It's always great! One of our favorite dinner spots in NE.
