Grant's Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
It's been awhile and enjoyed returning here. Seems to have improved its efficiency and the food was even better than before with a refreshed menu; so had a very pleasant experience with a business colleague. Good vibe but not loud. (not much traffic in bar at lunch time.) Reasonable portions at fair prices for the calamari and chicken caesar as well as the burger and fries. (Wish we coulda done cocktails too!) Looking forward to the next visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed New Year's Eve dinner with two other couples at Grant's. Even though it was hectic night, the service was timely but not rushed, friendly but not intrusive. Everyone gave two thumbs up to their dinners, ranging from salmon to short ribs to a salad with grilled shrimp. Unfortunately, we didn't sample the desserts, since we had plans to return to one of our homes to ring in the New Year.
Enjoyed a fantastic meal on New Year’s Eve with my wife and daughter. We all enjoyed our early evening at Grant’s. Great service, atmosphere and ambiance. The coffee rub on my NY Strip was outstanding. The creme brulee was decadent. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her clam/corn chowder which could have been a meal unto itself. Both wife and daughter had the crab cakes which they deemed to be delicious. We will return to Grant’s.
I've been coming to Grants since it opened and Billy was the chef. It seems that in the last few years the place has been on a downhill slide. I took a group of employees and clients there about 4 months ago, on a weeknight. We were a party of 10, service was slow, more than a couple meals came out wrong, mine didn't come out until everyone was done with theirs. Food was good from what my guests were willing to offer but mine and the client next to me were served cold mashed potatoes. I chalked this up as an off night for Grant's.
I came back with my wife and parents this past Sunday. Our food was unremarkable and the calamari appetizer was weak/small for the price. Service was very good.
The hallway near the restrooms and the restrooms themselves, need a good cleaning and a paint job.
Growing up in town and now in my 50's, I've seen a lot of restaurants come and go. Grant's was THE PLACE TO BE and the food was awesome and creative when they first opened and probably for a good 10 year's after. It's sad to see the downhill slide. If Carbone's opened up a place in The Center, everyone would have to step up their game or I'm afraid they wouldn't be around long. I hope there is a turning point for Grant's in sight, I would like to see them back on top of their game. Their are a lot of places competing for our dining $$$ and for me, I really need a dining experience to be a 4.5 - 5.0 in order for me to come back week after week or even monthly. We eat out fairly often but if I'm not excited about where we're going , I'd rather pick up a great pizza at Little City on the way home and stay in for the night.
Best Wishes For A Quick Turnaround!
Our party arrived early for our reservation, but the restaurant was able to seat us even though they were nearly at capacity. We were seated near a very large group, which made us concerned about the service. But despite being busy, the wait staff was very efficient and attentive to our needs. The food was outstanding. I enjoyed the duck, which was prepared medium with a delicious vegetable medley. My wife had the salmon, which she requires to be well cooked. It was prepared exactly to her specifications, and the server waited while she tasted it. Our guests also thoroughly enjoyed there meals. Grant's continues it's long streak of excellence!
Not up to it’s usual standard. The food was mediocre for Grants. I ordered the tofu which has always been outstanding and it just was ok, not tasty, not enough sauce, bland. The cabbage salad on the other hand was outstanding. My husband’s chicken dish wasn’t anything special, he only ate half of it. Grants is one of our favorites and we’ll be back but it just wasn’t a good night.
Usually very good but an oddly dissatisfactory experience. They made a mistake in the kitchen with one of our orders so it had to be remade. The delay wasn't so much of an issue but getting my lukewarm to cool salmon was. They took it back to warm but it was still pretty cool. At this point we had been there a while so I wasn't going to send it back yet again.
I love this place. I used to live in West Hartford and Grants was a regular favorite. I moved over 1,000 miles away, but try to have dinner here when I'm visiting. Consistently great service and always a wonderful meal. I had the sea scallops. They were perfect! Everything on the menu is delicious! You cannot go wrong.
It was our wedding anniversary and the waiter was so unpleasant. He was quick to serve us and didn't explain any of the specials. He pretty much just threw our plates on the table. I had made a note on my reservation that it was a special occasion. We didn't even get a congratulations. Food was great as always but service was very disappointing.
