Excellent food, excellent service. Highly recommend
We were in Schaumburg for one night and happened upon granite city. So glad we went! Excellent food and great service
The service was excellent, as usual. The food is always so delicious!
We went on St. Patrick's Day as advertising said, Music, Games, Prizes and special beer prices all day. Our server was nice but she told us that they never actually do any of that stuff and she didn't know about any specials. We would have stayed and ordered more but we were up for a St. Paddys Day event. Beer was good the appetizers were also very good. No Irish anything other than a few red beers. Too bad!
Disorganization at the host desk, finally seated 20 minutes after reservation. Very slow service.
Food was delicious! It was extremely crowded on a Friday night. We had a reservation, so we only had to wait a little while. Beers are good.
Server’s first night and he was awesome
Our server was so lovely and the Irish centric specials for St. Paddy's day were fun.
I have a seafood allergy and the waitress Michelle was very understanding. She did an outstanding job!
Food was good but service was horrible. Waiter never came back to refill our drinks. Waited 13 minutes for him to come back so we could request our check. Then took 11 more minutes for him to come back for the bill and credit card. Ridiculous when you know people are on their lunch time from work
Overall, we were disappointed in our first visit to Granite City. No problems with parking or in being seated. Waitress was very engaged and helped my wife and I try samples of three beers each prior to choosing one for a full glass. Problem was, both of us ordered a "guest" beer as the Granite City brews were very underwhelming. Not a good start.
We ordered the Irish nachos and quite honestly, they were terrible. Very dry and if it wasn't for the sour cream, I'm not sure we could have eaten any of it. We decided to brush that off and wait for our main meals. I had the Broad Axe Stout-Braised Beef Short Ribs. The short ribs were again very dry and chewy. Broccolini was fine, but the horseradish mashed potatoes were not very "horseradishy" at all. The killer was my wife had the Asian salad and also found it to be very dry. It wasn't until we were leaving and we noticed that we were NOT GIVEN THE SALAD DRESSING as others were pouring it on their Asian salad. My wife thought it was just very light on the dressing - nope, we weren't given it.
Despite all this, we did order two of the mini desserts - the salted caramel tart and the berry cheesecake. The tart was very thick but tasty. The berry cheesecake, though, was very flavorful.
All in all, we see no reason at this point to go back. Beers underwhelming and food quite honestly below par. Maybe we just unlucked out on our first go around, but nothing special from our perspective.
Ordered a bunch of appetizers to go along with drinks. The waiter was fantastic, never made us feel like we were a bother - even though we asked if we could sample a couple of wines. Portions of food were perfect - we ordered the margherita flatbread, kobe sliders, chicken quesadillias. We enjoy ordering a couple of different app's instead of a dinner; you get more food choices! They were the perfect amount of food for two of us, in fact, we didn't even eat all of it. My guest and I were able to easily hear each other talk yet there were a lot of people there. Very comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely go there again!
First visit @ this location. Service, food and ambiance was very good! Like that they participated in Restaurant Week and had good selections for the 3 courses. Wine prices reasonable. Will go there again for dinner!
Granite city has become my favorite restaurant and we have been going weekly but this last visit has left a bad taste in my mouth and left me very upset. The start to our experience was my husband finding a hair in food from the brunch service and the bad experience continued with our server who was really quite the rudest server I have ever encountered. I told her about the hair and she could not have cared less, not even an apology. We had had her before and same thing. I chalked to first visit up to a possible off night but the last time has solified my opinion. She not only constantly interrupted our conversation but she was persistant in the need to clear our plates ...so much so that at one point i had my fork in my eggs and she yet again interrupted us to ask if she could clear my plate????I mean I was eating off it. I felt she was being obtrusive on purpose. The topper was as the end when she filled my husbands coke class still filled with coke ..with water.
It was just a bad experience and I'm not sure when we will be back
The Sunday brunch is great. There are plenty of hot and cold items at a nice price. I think Rich was our server and he was excellent!
One suggestion would be to add some more desserts to the brunch selection. You used to have more and maybe it was being wasted but now you cut it down too short. Just a few more would be great.
Apps are over price, especially the shrimp.
Food was cold when it got to our table. Drinks were not made well. Very unfortunate!
This was our first time at this restaurant and we will definitely be back. The prices were reasonable and the food was quite good. The drink menu was nice. My husband couldn't decide on a beer so he got a flight of 4 small beers and he was pleased with all of them. I had a cherry margarita that was good. For dinner we had the seasonal jambalaya which was out of this world. Too bad it's not always on the menu because it was outstanding. We also had a burger from the seasonal menu which was delicious. Probably in my top ten burgers of all time. It was pretty crowded on a Saturday night so it was good to have a reservation.
I expected the place to be a bit fancier. Also the food was a bit too spicy for me. Overall it was a good place to go. Although it suits a more casual dinner. It is great for meat lovers as well as a wide variety of drinks to choose from.
Unfortunately the drinks tasted like water, brunch was anything but good. Service was also very poor. Who ever made the poached eggs should be fired they tasted like I drank a shot of vinegar.
We had a 7:45 reservation (but we were there very early), asked several times when our table would be ready (after 7:45, of course) and weren't seated until about 8:30! Food was only OK, french fries were soggy. My dirty martini was nothing but olive juice. Waiter never came back to refill waters/drinks after food was served, I was so thirsty that I ended up chewing up all my ice cubes. Not impressed, so so disappointed.
Have been here multiple times, and Always good food and beer.. Better make a reservation during traditional dinner hours.
Loved the French onion soup, a d my sons liked their bison burgers, I was a bit disappointed in the prime rib sandwich, not sure it was missing something.
actually i thought I made the reservation for Tuesday that is the day we attended GRANITE CITY so we showed up a earlier we do have the receipt i thought i booked the meal for 2/13/2018
As always, great atmosphere, delicious food choices and preparation, and friendly/ efficient service. We love this place!
Good food, excellent service, good ambiance.
My husband and I brought his mother for dinner. She doesn’t eat much and dining with her is sometimes a challenge. Not this evening. We ordered Cheese Ale Soup for all three. As usual it was delicious, the MIL finished the cup. For the entries she had the Sliders and I the CrabCake starters and the hubs had a fish sandwich. All our foods were done to perfection, no extra seasonings were needed. My crab cakes were perfect and the firey slaw was totally unexpected giving a great contrast. If you’re looking for a microbrewery that has a well balanced menu that would fit all tastebuds, hive Granite City a try.
Quick note on our waiter, he was always around checking on us but was not intrusive or hovering. Service was spot-on!
Granite City was wonderful to work with for a recent birthday party celebration. Original reservations were for 5 people but we needed to add 7 due to a death in the family, and out of town visitors joining our party. The restaurant was accommodating even though it was Superbowl Sunday. Our server, Ozel, worked his tail off, made great menu suggestions and was very attentive to our table. It would have been 5 stars all the way across the board, but it was a cold Sunday and we were seated in an atrium type room that was very cold. There was a fireplace that was not lit, and we wondered if that would have warmed up the room. The food and service was so good, we didn't want to bother anyone, especially since the restaurant was so accomodating to us, but the room could have been warmer. The rest of the restaurant seemed fine so I think it may have been the cold day. Great experience!
Good experience overall, I wanted to take some beer home but the growlers are overpriced
My fiancé and I love coming here. The food is delicious and the service is always good. One of our favorite spots to dine!
The food was awful. Seriously bad. Our Idaho Nacho appetizer was soggy and barely had toppings. The pretzel and cheese appetizer was the worst. I don’t know what they think they serve with the pretzels, but the watery sauce can’t possibly be cheese. Burger ok. Fries soggy. Chicken bruschetta salad was meh. The bread was the best part. Our service was unfriendly and uninspired. No water or soft drink refills. She could have cared less. The prices are outrageous for the quality and quantity of food. Don’t waste your time or your money. With the number of restaurants in the area, ANY of them would be better than this place.
This place is awesome, it quickly became one of my favorites. Our server was extremely nice and funny, however he was a little slow at points but it looked like he had a lot of tables. The beer list is great and GC is a great microbrewery. Their current seasonal coconut beer is extremely flavorful, you can taste all of the coffee, chocolate, and coconut notes. Our appetizer, the Idaho nachos, were really good but not quite great however you get a pretty large serving. My entree was the Pulled Pork waffle sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. The Jalapeño waffle was soft and had a great kick, the pulled pork was tender and full of flavor with the beer base, and the portion was great for an entree. The side of fries were pretty standard and the Coleslaw was pretty above average. Overall, Gc has great food and really good service. I will definitely go back and bring others.
This place is one of my favorite places to visit. They have great food and even better beer. They brew their own beer and it is always delicious! The staff are always great too! Can't wait to go back!
Mark and his crew are fantastic
Can't beat the service or the brunch
Was seated about twenty minutes after my reservation - food was very good however and they were very busy.
Too loud and crowded together. Had to wait 20 min beyond our reservation time
It took 20 minutes to be seated with a reservation. My husbands steak was not cooked medium rare as requested. It was more on the medium side. A manager came over to see if we wanted to wait for a new steak, but we declined since we were eating with our little kids and it was 8:15 already. He said he’d “give” us dessert, but we didn’t want any. Our check did not have any amount taken off due to the error with the steak. We don’t think we will be returning here in the future.
Reservation at 5:30 on a Friday, they were not busy yet and we were seated early. Ordered drinks and one was greatly diluted with ice, with maybe a half serving of the volume of drink ingredients. The server mentioned that drinks were 1/2 off at that time of the day but agreed to dump some of the ice and and to refill with the proper volume of the drink ingredients. The re-served drink was about half ice at that point but probably included the correct volume of each ingredient.
The food and service were good. Overall the price and value were on par for this type of restaurant in Chicagoland. We’ve been at this restaurant location before and likely will come here again.
They had some wonderful new and out of the ordinary choices just the right size.
