Good food. Service could have been a little faster since we had tickets to an event.
Way too loud. Way way way too loud.
I want to start by saying I’m not a critical person. I’m very forgiving and usually see the other side to things. I think the restaurant was just understaffed or poorly managed. Our food was fine, but no one checked on us the whole time. We wanted to order more food and drinks, but ended up leaving and making a second stop for dessert and a night cap. At all the tables around us much larger problems were happening, missing food, sitting groups at tables they didn’t fit at. The whole time seemed like the staff was just trying to survive and just couldn’t make it work. I think it could be a really nice restaurant if it was run a little better. It was almost comical watching all the tables have this issues around us. The food was pricy for the level of service.
The beer cheese soup is delicious! The service is always very good.
Food was good but it was too cold in the restaurant. I dined with my coat on.
I had wanted to try Granite City for some time but just had never taken the time to go. I was a bit disappointed. The food was very average. I may go there again for a casual dinner, but there was nothing about Granite City that stood out enough for me to recommend it to my friends.
Good gluten free options
We loved the brunch. Definitely make a point of saving room for the freshly-made doughnut bar. The caramel cinnamon rolls brought to your table when you arrive were great as well. For meats they offered prime rib and pot roast as well as salmon. Their biscuits and gravy were pretty tasty. Surprisingly, there was no chicken.
Brunch was great for the price. We will be back!
waitress was not attentive and was somewhat offended that we didn’t order her recommended dessert
The chicken pasta dish was wonderful and plentiful. And the other people enjoyed eating their
Sandwiches. Consider having a no-kids zone to keep the noise down for adults without kids. Liked the porch.
We went to eat and to celebrate a child's birthday with 8 total people. The server assigned to us I believe worked at the bar and was used just for our party. He was busy with the bar and hardly checked up on our table needs. The dishes were steeped with French fries (too much I believe), and the birthday dessert was just dropped off - no hoopla or signing by staff etc. We also ordered the donut stack for dessert - the donuts tasted like they had been fried in old oil as well. I would not recommend this place to eat and was disappointed.
Went for a dinner with my sisters and mom, our waitress although seemed nice, blew off my questions in regards to the entrees. Waters were never served, which we asked for with our drinks. I ordered fish and chips, fish was beyond greedy and tasted like it was cooked in old burnt oil. 2 of my sisters (both pregnant with heartburn) ordered the Salmon and said it was quite spicy. Out of the 6 of us that were there, there were only 2 of us were somewhat satisfied with the food. Cute place but we most likely won’t be coming back.
The was good, but nothing special. We had the chips ans guacamole as an appetizer and the corn fritters. They were both fine. Had the bbq chicken flatbread. It was cold when they served it. The chiiros were too greasy to eat.
A fun Sunday Brunch! It's very popular, and has always been very busy when we've been there. The buffet has many selections, and the service is good.
Food was good but average. The ambiance was relaxed.
Disappointing. The waffle fry nachos had very little cheese on them. The Margarita flatbread was not very appealing, way to much balsamic drizzled over it. We had someone order the grilled cheese on gluten free bun and the bun was soggy not toasted. When you use a gluten-free bun for a grilled cheese it should be flipped and flattened so it can be grilled like a grilled cheese that is on bread.
Had the meatloaf, and not a fan of the sweet bbq demiglaze. Bowl that it was served in was hot, but the meatloaf itself was barely warm. The way it was served was just weird. At the bottom, was a piece of garlic bread, then green beans on top of that, then the meatloaf, then the garlic mashed potatoes, and then covered with onion straws. ???
We made it clear we we were vegan, but one persons Asian salad came out with the chicken. It took awhile to get her food. The waiter was really nice, he brought a dessert for the birthday girl and made sure it was vegan friendly. That was very thoughtful of him.
Our server was horrible. He couldn’t answer basic questions about the menu or drinks. He was never around. We asked for water 3 time and never got any. The food came cold. We ordered another drink and we were done with our meal and it still wasn’t there and ended up canceling it. We really enjoy the restaurant and have never had service this bad. It was a Monday night too so it wasn’t that crowded.
Bread on burger was molded and had to be sent back. Shrimp fried rice had WAY TOO MUCH EGGS in it. Although the manager was very apologetic and comp the burger (should have comp'd the entire bill) it was a bad experience and we most likely will not be returning. It was a business lunch meeting.
Awesome new menu. It was in much need of an update. Really enjoyed it! Chicken Tinga Tacos are great.
We used to LOVE granite city. The new menu changes are disappointing at best.
We have gone to the brunch before and then disappointed in the service. Just because it's a buffet doesn't mean that we don't need assistance getting beverages or napkins and other things. This time the service was spot-on. Even though it was super busy our server was very attentive.
We were there for the Sunday brunch. We were pleasantly surprised with the wide variety and not “just carbs”. The strawberry Kale salad was delicious and the beef and rice had us all going back for seconds (and thirds).
We were really disappointed with this place. Having not been in almost two years, it’s safe to say my husband and I won’t return. We waited and waited for everything all night and the food was hardly worth the wait. Too many better options in the area for this one to get my time.
Jeremy was an excellent server...paid a lot of attention to us...thank you
Predictable, straight down the middle value.
Service was poor. Drinks not refilled. French fries cold.
Service was not great. Food was good though
Our server was amazing! The drinks and food were delicious. My mom very much enjoyed her 50th birthday dinner!
food was good. Server was the issue. Took forever when it wasn't even busy. Didn't bring correct food out and then got an attitude when I told him I got the wrong item. When it came to pay my check was one amount and then when he came back for me to sign it was a higher amount. Also had a coupon that he said he would apply it but never did. Didn't even question it as I was running late to get back to work. But probably wont be back.
We visited for the Sunday brunch. Everything was excellent! Lots of choices and the food was fresh and delicious.
We had 4 adults and 4 kids. One of the adult entrees came out and it was the entirely wrong item even though the waiter had my wife point out the item when she was ordering it. Another one of the entrees did not come out at all. It took so long for the kitchen to cook the right items that we took them to go.
The kids ordered Mac and cheese, for $4.99; a fairly normal kids meal and price. However, all that came out was a small bowl of what was basically kraft mac and cheese. It felt like a total ripoff; a few pieces of fruit or something else would go a long way. The kids were still really hungry and ended up sharing fries from my and a friends’ meal.
Overall the food we got was pretty good. The manager apologized and comped the missing items, but it still ended up being a fairly expensive meal. Between the service and the poor value, I don’t expect we will return.
RE: Chicken they forgot the chicken.
My wife and I have been here before and tonight wanted to go back. The first few times were great and tonight wasn’t any different. Great beer and great food. Left full and satisfied. Nothing was a disappointment. All positives.
Our server wasn’t very nice at first but then was able to lighten up. My family liked their food, however I got their new steak and truffle fries dish and it was incredibly salty. Additionally we did the loaded Idaho fries and unless you get the special dip they are dry.
I went the week after my birthday to enjoy and use my free birthday entree coupon. In my reservation I requested a booth. Initially, after passing by an empty dining room booth, we were seated in the VERY NOISY bar area. Hey we’re well into our senior years, what were you thinking? I am a waiter to reseat us and we were accommodated. The waitress came to take our drink order and we waited a very long time for drink and a chance to order an appetizer. While I did get $17.49 discount for dinner, I was charged for three glasses of wine when I only had two. I was served a birthday dessert that I didn’t ask for and charged $2.79 for it. Unusual! I thought the bill was high, but didn’t notice over charge for wine until going over the bill the next day, grrr. So I paid for extra wine, tax and tip and dessert. My birthday entree didn’t do me much good. My husband unfortunately did not enjoy his fish and chips at all. Fries to salty and fish just not good. It was not our first time dining at Granite City, May give them another try,but will be sure to carefully check bill.
