Grand Met Ratings and Reviews
We had an unplanned overnight stay at DFW due to mechanical failure on 1/17/2018. After a long day of disappointment, we chose the Grand Met in hopes of finding a bright spot in an otherwise dreary travel day. Our expectations were greatly exceeded. The Grand Met's interior, staff and food were what we'd expect from a fine urban restaurant seeking repeat business, far better than what we expected from what could be a "One & Done" traveller's food stop. The manager Anthony visited our table to be sure everything was excellent and we were happy to give him a great report on all aspects of our experience. Our server Jimmy deserves special praise as well, gracious, knowledgeable and efficient. Wagu Beef sushi rolls and porks shank were both tasty and farily priced for airport proprery
Very accommodating. Met there for business with one person flying in. Plane was delayed but they held the table. Had drinks, edamame(very good) and cheese plate waiting for last member of party to arrive. All good. Wait staff was very attentive. Entrees were excellent. Would definitely go again.
My husband had a business meeting and we were staying the night at the Grand Hyatt DFW so we decided to give the Grand Met a try. We were not disappointed! Ambiance was lovely, food was delicious, staff was curtious and very attentive. The Wine Wall was impressive and our server was very knowledgeable regarding their wines. I would highly recommend the Grand Met for business meetings, romantic dinners or even perhaps a Birthday or Anniversary dinner.
We met two friends at the Grand Met at DFW airport, who were waiting on a connecting flight the next morning. We had a great time and enjoyed the drinks and the food very much. The service was great, in the bar and the restaurant. Two of us has the asparagus soup, which was a new taste experience, and was very much enjoyed. Our entree was the halibut, and it was delicious, seasoned and prepared expertly with a medley of garden vegetables. Our friends had lamb chops and sea bass, and were both well pleased. Although we probably would never have gone to the Grand Met, had we not been meeting friends at the airport, I'm glad we did. If you ever have a layover, or want to meet friends or family connecting at DFW, it would be a great place to join them, and enjoy a fine dinner.
We got our favorite server again! He is always very attentive and willing to go out of his way to please the customers. Great recommendations for what to eat.
Our recent find of the appetizers are worth re-visiting. I took 2 appetizers as my main dish: Mussels & Bank Sea Scallops. Really like the taste!
We have eaten at the Grand Met on two previous occasions when traveling through DFW. Each meal has been well-prepared, served at appropriate temperatures and had excellent wait staff. This visit we had a chicken and, separately, a fish dish. Both were delicious and ample in quantity. Our waiter, Elmer, was special in helping us narrow-down an excellent menu and not missing a beat on our progress through the evening.
One of our dishes came cold (probably because our waiter didn't bring it over immediately), BUT the manager is awesome AND our waiter paid attention to our feedback and did everything to make us happy. They took the dish off our bill and the desserts were complimentary! We were amazed at such consideration and excellent service, so much so that we ended up tipping 50%! They deserve it. We will definitely come back and highly recommend to friends and family.
it's a bit difficult to locate this place but once you are in the D terminal it gets easier. you have a choice of taking the elevator or escalators leading you to the hotel lobby area. Once up in the lobby its just a few feet away. Whats wonderful about the Grand Met its an open area and you don't feel trapped in. Dress code is casual or office wear, nothing too fancy. The staff are wonderful and with time they will get to you. No rush, just the way i like it. By the you order and get you meal, you completely forget that you are in the airport. Vibe is rich and the staff mood is pleasant and complementary. The other awesome thing about this place is that you can actually watch the chef prepare you meal. its an open cooking area.
Chef Mark, the Grand Met's amazing Sushi Chef, works only Monday through Friday. So I only dine there on those days. Sit at the small Sushi Bar as close to Chef Mark and ask him to bring you Sushi Dishes until you run out of money or demand that he STOP. It's not cheap. We average about $75 per person(including drinks and gratuity) when we go, but I'd rather skip a few meals at other restaurants so I can have Sushi with Chef Mark at the Grand Met. There are rumors that Chef Mark may leave in the fall to open his own place in North Dallas so get to the Grand Met sooner, rather than later.
Very dissapointed with this establishment. Find it hard to believe that the Grand Hyatt located in DFW stops serving breakfast at 11:00 am on a Sunday. Most restaurants of there caliber enhance and extend breakfast/brunch hours on Sunday. Ordered lunch, menu is limited. Service is simply OK. Nothing to write home. I read previous reviews and people ranted and raved. I left the establishment a bit confused.
Hotel restaurants are notorious for their rubber chicken prepared 5 ways and rock hard baked potatoes. This innovative upscale establishment just happens to be located in a hotel. Creative menu, superior and friendly service and cocktails that aren't watered down made the experience memorable. They say you get what you pay for...well, the wine and entrees are priced above other upscales. That could contribute to the quality of the environment, personnel and food. An experience worth repeating!
This is not a hotel restaurant, it is an exceptional restaurant. Service, presentation, and food are all top notch. Little touches from the lighted menu, to the different style of plates depending on the entree, to the modernistic decor make it special. I ate here twice in 24 hours.
Dinner. The rolls were wonderful. Choices of draft beer excellent. Service was friendly, and attentive. The ribeye was fabulous and the other diners sea bass was also exceptional. I had the tortilla soup too and it was also great.
Southwestern specialties for breakfast were also outstanding.
You don't expect good food at a hotel restaurant, boy were we surprised. The food was outstanding and the service wonderful and attentive. I had the halibut and my husband had the chicken. Good size portions and seasoned perfectly. I have lactose intolerance that the chef de cuisine was wonderful and made my meal taste as if it was missing nothing.
