Grand Dining Room - Grand Wailea - Waldorf Astoria
Kona Crab Cake, Poached Organic Eggs, Adobo Loco Hollandaise
Omelets Made to Order
Kona Lobster Mac & Cheese
Always a special trip and an excellent idea for a Sunday Brunch. Minor nits from the perspective of someone who has enjoyed this several times over the past twenty-plus years. First, get used to the birds. They will attack your plate, jump on your table and sometimes land on your water glass. Rotate and leave one person while the others go get into the queue. Next, the line. Yes, those poached eggs on crabcakes are ideal - but not everyone needs to line up and wait. Split up these areas, perhaps serve them in two sections but it really sends a inefficient message. Lastly, but certainly not least, the Staff. Always a pleasant smile, welcoming attitude, always there when you need them. They really make the day special. Come, enjoy and aloha!!
We made reservations in advance for my wife and I and my parents. We had outdoor seating with ocean views. The two complimentary glasses of champagne were more than enough. They were prompt in responding to our requests. We asked for POG (Passion fruit, orange and guava) mimosas. Our favorite was the seafood selection or oysters, crab and shrimp. To top it of, they made us a special desert plate for my parent’s anniversary. Make sure you try their mochi balls! 20% gratuity will be added to your bill.
Brunch was very good and Grand Wailea is great location. The brunch buffet offered a nice selection of food and quality was excellent. A little pricey for some maybe but worth the experience and the views are such a terrific backdrop.
Very overpriced, poor/slow service, average food at best.
The line to get food was really long. They ran out of a lot of food and did not replenish quickly enough. For the amount you are paying for this brunch you should not have to wait 15 minutes for them to replenish all of the seafood or many of the hot dishes. The fruit that was fun and exotic was replaced with apples early on. The service was so so. Had to wait for drinks. Everyone there seemed overwhelmed. We were expecting so much and were disappointed.
Food was cold and not well prepared. Would not spend the money. Had better food at McDonalds
We did the Christmas buffet.
First of all the food was amazing. Very fresh and high quality. I typically stay away from buffets but recommend this one for the food alone.
We have stayed at the Grand Wailea many times and every service the hotel provides, including restaurants, is typically excellent. This brunch was the exception. For the price (fairly expensive) I expect plates to be cleared as soon I finish and drinks to be filled frequently. Since it was a buffet the members went back for seconds (and 3 rds). I finally had to call a busboy over to clear the table when there were 6 dirty plates stacked on the table. I also had to ask several times for water refills.
Again, typically the service is the best so I expected more.
Overall we were very disappointed.
To start the brunch was not in the Grand Dining Room. It was in an outside area at the back of the resort by the conference area. Our table was very small for 4 people and we were off to the side where you first entered so could not see if hear the entertainment. We did walk by the Grand Dining Room, it was lovely looking but much smaller than the area we were in and there would be no way it would hold everyone that was at the brunch.
Food was plentiful however due to the temporary location that hot food was luke warm at best.
The biggest surprise though came when we received the bill. We made the reservation on the open table app. The menu and rate was listed when we made the reservation. When we received our bill, it was $160usd more than we expected.
Service was friendly and consistently kept our table cleaned and drinks full.
We would not return.
For approx. $700 Canadian for 4 of us we could had a much better experience elsewhere.
We felt mislead - we should have been made aware of the change of venue prior to arrival.
If you are a Hilton Gold, you can upgrade to the full buffet for $19.
Amazing thanksgiving buffet!!
Visited for Thanksgiving and a delightful experience. Lovely Thanksgiving menu. Wonderful service. Phenomenal setting. Food was outstanding. Top shelf experience.
I have to admit that the table and view we had were the best in the house. Our server was kind and attentive and the live music and occasional native dancer was nice touch. The food was very well presented and looked much better than it actually tasted - bar a few items. The line is long and people move slow so your food is cold by the time you get back to your table. More stations would help this although probably not cost effective. And please remove the eggs Benedict from the buffet menus. A hot English muffin with a Luke warm crab cake a cold hard poached egg with a teaspoon of hollandaise sauce ruins the experience and expectation. The hefty price covers three things - it’s a Waldorf, king crab legs and prawn sized shrimp and if your lucky a awesome view. Did it once and glad we did but would not do it again.
Was a great brunch, Debbie was a fantastic server and the food was amazing as usual, 3 weeks in a row, was the highlight of our Maui visit
Had a referral from Tennnile at Milagros Paia. Was impressed with the setting, orgeous property, wonderful live music, and hula. Welcoming truly grand balcony dining room. Kind greeting from Rolondo who made us feel welcome and was one step ahead the whole meal. Beautifully prepared and presented food by professionals. We are very pleased with the service, food, atmosphere, and value.
Lovely brunch, will certainly return
Excellent! Some new dishes to try!
Staff was great food was horrible and cheap champagne. Before it was all you can drink champagne even if it was a low end. Service was great price way too high for what they offer.
We had an amazing meal and time with friends. However, no longer bottomless mimosas, so that was a bummer. Booked a birthday brunch there partly for that reason.
The price goes up, the value goes down. No more unlimited champagne. Two glasses. Apparently, they've had problems with over-zealous guests. So, rather than moderating the over-indulgers, they punish everyone. Food quality is mediocre. My last visit after quite a lot of visits.
Great food but very very expensive. $390 for four regular buffets and one child. Almost died when I saw the bill.
We were somewhat disappointed by the relative lack of vegetables and the hot foods could have been better. The bread and cheese selections could have been more extensive but were very good, as were the other cold items. The desserts were fabulous.
We came as part of my 50th birthday celebration. We love the Grand Dining Room brunch, and I’m not normally fond of buffets. Options are plenty, food is fresh and thoughtfully laid out. There is something for everyone. This is our second time dining here and both times were spectacular. We were all especially impressed with our server, Rolando...he was the absolute best! He was very attentive(even surprised me with a special birthday dessert at the end of our meal) and just one of the nicest people we’ve met.
We took family from the mainland to brunch at The Grand. All was superb! Donna, our server (whom we have had multiple times) was so awesome as usual. Checking back often, and always making sure our champagne was full. Our family was BLOWN AWAY! We couldn’t have asked for more.
Since we live in Kihei, we are already looking at our calendar to see when we can go back. We love the food, the ambience, the service, and of course the view!
Mahalo Grand Wailea!
Easter Brunch was absolutely amazing.
Excellent selection of food and scenery
We have been at the brunch the last three weeks. We have done this for seven years and we are never disappointed. The staff has been excellent as is the variety of foods on the brunch display. Highly recommended.
Beautiful setting and gorgeous view of the ocean. We enjoyed the food, especially the malasadas.
The dining area is big/open/spacious - but the buffet area is tiny is comparison to the amount of people. There are long line-ups to wait to get your food which our group of 20 found annoying. They keep the drinks flowing, and your tables clear if you continuously get up for more. The food is good, but not the best buffet I’ve ever had. I had higher expectations for the crab cakes eggs benny. It tasted really fishy 🙁
The lobster macaroni & cheese was the biggest hit at our table.
The views are beautiful, the landscape and the hotel are beautiful... the hotel cleanliness is sub par. The stairs leading down to the dinning area had spilled drinks that had dried over a 4 day period
Awesome Sunday brunch!!!
Everything was perfect!
Christmas brunch was a fabulous experience for our family, thank you! Wonderful food selection and view.
A marvelous experience. The food offerings were so varied it could please any taste.
attentive service and a beautiful setting.
Love this brunch! Food is excellent, lots of choices and amazing view!
We have been attending the buffet for years, and this experience was by far the best! Awesome selections! We are still talking about the amazing food!
Once in a lifetime brunch! Totally worth the splurge to start off our amazing family vacation!
Best View, Great Food. The only thing I wish different was that the dessert section was on a completely different side from rest of the buffet and I wish the server would have pointed that out in the beginning. I almost didn’t get to experience dessert because of it.
Visited for Sunday Brunch. The Grand Dining Room opens directly on to the Ocean and has a beautiful breeze blowing through. Lots of selection including seafood (huge shrimp), omelette station, a small selection of dim sum, salads, fresh fruit, carving station (beef and pork) and great selection of small desserts. There are also endless Mimosas and Bloody Marys.
Cost is $65 US pp for the Sunday Brunch. We enjoyed our visit, the service was great. Our Server Zaldy was friendly and always available for anything we needed.
Worth the visit.
