Very enjoyable dinner. Definitely recommended for guests on the island and for special occasions.
Excellent! A must-do on Jekyll. Food was delicious and best crab bisque we have ever had. Piano player was talented and fun....everything from Beethoven to todays hit music.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Jekyll Island Club Grand Dining Room. Everything was superb! We highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
Rayshawn was our server and he was amazing! He was very knowledgeable about the menu and also very interesting to talk to. We enjoyed meeting him. The food was outstanding. I had escargot and shrimp and grits. Everything was delicious!
Wonderful yesteryear ambiance with hostess and server sensing our every need. Our party chose to order from the menu and the food exceeded our expectations. We will be back.
Love!!!! Piano Music, food, service, and scenery was amazing! Would recommend!
Multi course meal was well proportioned, properly paired with wines and well paced. Piano entertainment was outstanding.
We let them know ahead of time that we were vegans, so we got great meals from Chef Barbie who would always come out to great us. Everyone was very friendly. Hopefully, they will start to put the vegan desserts and entrees on the permanent menu for the many people who want to eat plant-based foods for reasons of environmental responsibility, health, or animal protection.
Beautiful place, excellent food, excellent service, wonderful experience.
Great location with coastal Georgia style food. The building is well maintained and still has that old southern feel to it. Service was excellent. Also a great place to walk around after dinner.
We visited the Jekyll Island resort for my husbands birthday and dined in the Grand Dining Room forhis birthday celebration. The hostess greeted us with a “happy birthday” wish for my husband, and since it was a special occasion, I had requested a special table and they didn’t disappoint. We were seated at a quiet table by the fireplace. Great ambiance and the food was exceptional. Our server, the hostess, and the manager checked in on us throughout the evening to be certain everything met our expectations. A perfect Evening!
Have eaten here many times..This time took some out of town guests ..Food was plentiful and very good..Table service was slow and spotty...The room as always was lovely , but it was disappointing to see so many in tee shirts and cut off shorts.
Quiet breakfast, great food, fresh roses, and wonderful coffee
Had reservations in the Grand Dining Room for our 44th wedding anniversary. We dressed as requested (jackets for men and dressy for women), unlike several people who dressed as if they were eating at a fast food restaurant.
We were first in when they opened at 6:00 for dinner and were seated at the end of the room close to the fireplace which was nice. However, as more people were seated we noticed that everyone else was getting served while we just sat there, ignored. No water, no lemon, no waiter. Husband was getting annoyed and I'm usually the one who gets annoyed when things are not going as expected. Finally, our waitress appeared and even she noticed that we had not been attended to as all the other diners had been. She poured our water herself (the assistant wait staff should have already done this) and took our order for drinks and appetizers. After that, things were better.
The Oysters Rockefeller were excellent. A little different than the "classic" preparation, but very well done. Caesar salads were also very good. We asked to split one so we could save room for dessert later. I ordered the duck breast and husband ordered the snapper special for our entrees. Both were very good. If we didn't eat at really wonderful restaurants all the time over on SSI, this meal would have rated excellent. It was the service from the assistant wait staff that left a bad taste. They need more training and/or an attitude adjustment. After the no water fiasco at the start, it was like pulling teeth to get them to offer us rolls and butter. No smile, no personality, no picking up empty plates - why are they working here in a first class place??? Fire those guys and get some people that actually want a job and can act in a professional manner!!
I want to go back again soon. The history of the Jekyll Island Club is fun to think about as you're enjoying a meal in this lovely room. I kept asking myself - Who might have sat in the same spot many years ago??
We chose the Grand Dining room for breakfast The hotel is lovely, it feels as if you’ve stepped back in time Warmly greeted by all staff from the valet, hostess, dining room staff and our waitress Breakfast is a buffet ($16.95) including coffee and juice or you can order from the menu (additional costs for coffee and juice) We chose the buffet Plenty to chose from, nothing special its standard breakfast fare Bacon, sausage, eggs, pastries etc Next time I would order from the menu, options include eggs Benedict Don’t miss the experience, sometimes it’s more about the ambience than the food
Went for special occasion. Service was very slow from all 3 staff working our table. We were in sunroom area we requested, but I think all servers (waiter, person responsible for clearing dirty dishes & person serving rolls) forgot we were there. We really enjoy going to upscale restaurants for special occasions. Waiter even apologized for not bringing bill quicker. We don’t mind spending more on fine dining but expect to to get better service. The food was very good but because the overall experience was bad we would probably not go back.
Loved the piano playing during dinner. Very elegant. Great service and food
Atmosphere is outstanding. Service was very good. All staff was very attentive. Entrees were very good, however the lobster bisque resembled baby food carrots mixed with split pea soup. Overall a very pleasant dining experience, and a special place to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We will be back again and will recommend the Grand Dining Room to our friends and family.
I was a guess at the Club. Not my first time here. I had made reservations well in advance of my arrival. Seated at the back of the resturant in the middle next to a pillar. No ambiance here. Rather loud. Hard to have a conversation. Service was great.(Shawn). My steak was cooked to order, scalloped potatoes I would not recommend. My wife had the scallops which were best she has had.
We enjoyed great food and very good service in a beautiful setting. The piano player was an added bonus!
Just the BEST
If you consider $40 expensive for a special occasion, all inclusive meal, then it's not for you. The food and service were excellent. The seafood consisted of jumbo Georgia steamed shrimp, jumbo Georgia steamed crab claws, Alaskan King Crab, and smoked shrimp/oysters/scollops - all excellent. The beef was appropriately rare and "melt in your mouth" in texture. There are too many items to list, although I did attempt (and failed) to sample all. However, I can't close without mentioning the key-lime pie - be certain to save room. Lastly let me mention the decor: this is a well preserved, but old and historic hotel - so, take some time and appreciate your surroundings.
Grand Dinning Room has been a main stay for years. Great Location, great surroundings , and great sunsets.
The pork chop was excellent.
Having worked in restaurant business my wife was taught to always seat the nicer tables first. Our hostess gave us a table near a 'service' table where plates of old food were collected. Probably the worst table in the otherwise very nicely appointed room.
The waiter did not smile once. He reminded me of the reserved (grumpy) waiters in Europe.
We had escargot & crab cake appetizers.
The escargot lacked garlic and the bread served(normally intended to soak up the yummy garlic butter) was instead hard slices of melba toast.
The crab cake was fishy and merely warm, not hot.
The entree portions were very small.
We elected to forgo dessert out of fear it too would be disappointing.
Maybe they were just having a bad night?
We ate here to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. I found the staff very friendly and atmosphere was beautiful. However, the food service was extremely slow ( took an hour to receive our dinner) and wasn't as tasty as I was expecting for the dollar. Overall, I was give it a B- based on timely kitchen service. Loved our waitress and hostess. Eating here is worth a try.
We were excited to visit and celebrate our daughter’s 13th birthday. The dining room was quaint and the pianist was entertaining. Our service was incredibly blasé, he literally threw our dessert forks on the table. Dinner was just ok, nothing special at all. I read other reviews that said portions were small but I thought they must be used to big supersized American portions. Nope, they were spot on. My husband ordered scallops, there were three. I had shrimp and grits, they were small, over cooked, and plopped over a spoonful of grits. Our daughters had filet, not bad, and salmon, boring. We had pecan pie for dessert and it was no more than a sliver sliding around on an empty plate. If the service was better, I suppose it would have been a fun experience. I would say make the trip over to Sea Island where they treat you well.
Loud children. Do not in force drrss code. Rules are rules.
The ambience is wonderful, and it was a holiday Sunday night, but the service was really off, slow, and inattentive. Apps came out 10 minutes apart for the two of us, bisque was lukewarm, entrees were more than a half hour after, and lukewarm, too. The manager apologized and offered to make it up to us.
You can't beat this place for the ambiance, a bit of traditional "class" from early 20th century. The food and wine were very good, especially the duck. We also really enjoyed the house salad - very nicely done. Good for a special night out.
Terrible food. WAY overpriced with extremely small portions. Filet over cooked, shrimp and grits bland and I am suspicious the shrimp were frozen as well. Forgot our Caesar salad. Service very unprofessional.
Always an elegant and special experience when we dine in the Grand Dining Room! The presentation and food quality of the meals are perfect! We look forward to a return visit!
Wonderful meal and great service.
We were at this restaurant for our anniversary. Staff made the event extra special and the food was great! Would recommend for any occasion.
The ambiance is great, the setting is convenient, the food choices for the Sunday buffet is excellent, the price is very fair, the wait staff is friendly, efficient, and brief. I highly recommend it.
We came here for brunch during our honeymoon and it was wonderful! The brunch is not cheap but is well worth the price for the quality and variety of food that is served. The service is friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back on our next trip to Jekyll!
An historic treasure at the Jekyll Island Club Resort
Have been going for Sunday Brunch for years and it never fails to be a wonderful and delicious experience. Has gotten expensive over the last 5 years.
It is one the most romantic dining destinations where the the service and food is impeccable.
Very attentive and kind server (Kenneth). Amazing food! Great attention to food allergies. I hope to return soon!
