Grand Dining Room at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Food as always was amazing. Had the server/waitress(Jamie) recommend a few items and they were exquisite. My wife had the filet and I had the duck breast and both were perfectly done, seasoned, presented. Jamie made us feel like we were the only people being served by her even though she was helping other tables. We went for our anniversary and it was everything I come to expect from the Grand Dining Room because they always set the bar so high.
Although we had reservations the line to enter the dining room was 10-15 minutes - not bad. The food was great, the service was good, the noise level was reasonable, the piano music was great, and not too loud. Most people were dressed casually, some were dressed well for the atmosphere, some were dressed simi-formally. Overall it was a very good experience. We will probably return. We were placed on a waiting list for Christmas dinner, so we hope to get a reservation. The facility was recommended to us by others who had eaten there for Thanksgiving and other occasions, and their recommendation was well placed.
We were disappointed in our dinner dining experience. I had shrimp and grits, the shrimp was tough. My husband had the pork chop dinner, also tough. Our daughter had the chicken,
which was average. For the high prices, we expected superior quality food. The restaurant was charming and the pianist was a nice tough.
We arte at the Grand Balllroom for the first time this past weekend. We had heard such amazing things that we were expecting it to be the caliber of restaurants in savannah, but It was not. The filet i ordered was very chewy and very small. They didn't give us a steak knife because you shouldn't need one for a filet, but this one did. I had to fight to cut my dinner.
For $40 we would have expected better. We had the oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer and they were amazing.
Unfortunately, they were out of the only vegetarian option on the menu & did not share that information until I ordered. I had to eat a salad as that was the only option. The Riesling wine & chocolate & coconut pot de creme were wonderful! When I made our reservation I added a special note that it was our 25th wedding anniversary but that was not mentioned or acknowledged in any way which was disappointing!
Enjoyed our anniversary dinner while visiting Jekyll Island for the first time, although we live close-by (Savannah). Jenny our server was very sweet and efficient. Accommodating to my semi-vegetarian requests! Valet's and front desk very attentive as we strolled around the property. Thumbs up based on my 25+ years in the hospitality industry!
The atmosphere and the history in the dining room is grand indeed. The rose petals on the table with the piano player created the perfect atmosphere for a special birthday setting. All staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The frisee/arugula salad was spectacular, unfortunately the meal was downhill from there. Steak Diane was seasoned nicely and cooked as requested but the meat had a processed quality and was uniquely without the muscle fiber associated with a Prime NY Strip steak.
Waiter was very pleasant but after the first pour seemed to forget that we had a bottle of wine.
My handsome husband filled in graciously to refill my glass on my special evening.
It is a place that you may want to go once, because the history demands the experience.
As a foodie keep that in mind.
The food was excellent and the variety was excellent. The shrimp and grits was unforgettable. You could put the sauce on almost anything and it would taste wonderful. The prime rib was seasoned well, the pork loin was delicious. The desserts were delicious.
The Grand Dining room at Jekyll Island's club hotel is just one of the reasons you will keep going back again and again! The ambiance is amazing, as well as the views of the court yard. The staff is always so joyous and happy to help. You will not regret dining in the Grand Dining Room.
This historic dining room in an historic hotel is well worth visiting. Though the menu is a bit pricey, the ambience is priceless. The service was wonderful, and the piano player was great--not too loud, either. The food was excellent. Overall, a memorable and unique dining experience!
The food was okay. It wasn't terrible, it wasn't great - just okay. The highlight of the meal was the escargot that were prepared perfectly, but other than that, very "meh"
The wine list had a wonderful selection and great prices!
The ambiance is amazing! Don't go for the food - go to get dressed up a bit, and live an evening in the historic dining room as JP Morgan and friends did while inventing the Federal Reserve!
On another note, we ate at the bar for lunch the next day. cocktails and sandwiches were wonderful!!
it was clear there have been some internal changes with in this hotel.
the service is not as refined as they should be, all things considered. I expect to be addressed accordingly and to have wait staff speak clearly and not use slang in the presentation of the menu or otherwise. our main meal was prepared beautifully and I did recommend the grand ballroom to others.
Visited for the breakfast brunch while on vacation. We were not staying at the hotel so the dining room was a little difficult to find. The room was beautiful and the service was very good. The hotel itsef and the grounds were very impressive.
The food was OK from the buffet, nothing to write home about. The eggs were a bit over cooked and the French toast was dry, but the biscuits were fluffy and the berries in yogurt were probably the best part of the meal.
Considering the food and service we experienced elsewhere on the island though you could do worse than the Grand Dining Room.
We have been to the Grand Dining Room a number of times over the last ten years.
As historic value and ambiance goes, you can't beat the venue. Beautiful...
But, the food quality was very average and not up to the par of previous chefs. The service was good. The price paid for the meal when compared to what we received was not on an equal level. The biggest setback was the dress policy. No shorts or tee shirts, IT IS SUMMER IN GEORGIA PEOPLE.. I witnessed many customers, some whom had reservations for months leave because of this policy.. and some were (wealthy) guests staying at the hotel and willing to spend money. This policy is costing you business. Overall, a fair experience. Again the venue and history go without saying,.. spectacular.
We had a 6:45 reservation. The waitress never asked for our bar/drink orders. Was very abrupt. It took two hours to get entrees that were not that good. Bonefish is better. Seriously disappointed. Kids were with us and one couldn't even eat the macaroni bc it was so dry. Worse than easy Mac. Would not recommend or return.
