The Grand Dining Room at The Jekyll Island Club has ambiance fitting of the late 1800's. The architecture is just lovely. Unfortunately, it was a little disappointing. The service was very slow. It took over an hour to receive our entrees. We had to ask three times for rolls and butter. Found it to be a bit pricey for mediocre food. I was hoping for a better dining experience.
Food tasted great! Portions were very small for price.
Very historic location.
Have eaten here several times. Food and service always excellent. This specific occasion was somewhat spoiled by a VERY loud cocktail party at the front of the dining room during the first half of our dinner.
A lovely location! Always a treat to have Sunday Brunch at Jekyll Island Club. Food is consistently good but could use a little more spark in terms of presentation. Coffee is very good and you can't beat the scenery when you are walking off your meal.
The atmosphere was nice and the waiter was professional and knowledgeable. The food, what I consider most important, was surprisingly lacking. The cheese and charcuterie plate had tasteless bologna and just 2 types of cheese. For the price, I was hoping for a few more types and some prosciutto. The crab cake was actually very good. My wife got the squash ravioli. It was in a pool of broken sauce and after the temperature finally cooled, it was bland (and oily). I got the duck which was a good size portion but the skin was poorly done. I understand that cooking duck is tricky. The skin and fat were rubbery. The atmosphere was nice. There was a fire going and a great pianist. Hoping that the food is a step up when we return in October.
We had an amazing experience! The staff pampered us and the food was delicious!
Great food and great service. Our favorite restaurant!
Absolutely wonderful! Will tell all my friends what a wonderful experience it was.
Fantastic evening, Kenneth and Kyle were excellent. Food was perfectly done and ambiance in such a beautiful dining room was quite a delight.
Went for Sunday brunch on a trip to Jekyll Island - were going to do dinner but honestly didn't want to deal with a jacket since we were on a beach trip. The Jekyll Island Club is an elegant but laid back space and it was cool to sit in the dining room where so many famous figures from history had dined. But enough about the space - the food was fantastic. Wide variety of great breakfast foods, cheeses, fruit, brisket and made to order omelette. Great variety of seafood too, and yummy desserts. The only hard part was having to pass up so many good options and narrow my choices. Great service also. Definitely recommend.
I always enjoy coming to the Jekyll Island Club and having dinner in the Grand Dining Room. The food is great, the service is great, and the atmosphere is great.
The dining room is beautiful and we enjoyed the pianist. However, our overall experience was below expectations for a restaurant whose prices exceed $30 for almost all a la carte entrees and whose appetizers exceed $10. We were seated at the front of the restaurant (which was less than half full) near the pianist. Unfortunately, a few minutes after sitting down, we realized we were right by the kitchen whose door swung open frequently. Worse, all the servers often went by our table and the floor shook as a couple of them ran by. This went on throughout the evening. Our server, Wilton, was very pleasant but service was slow and the food was not hot when delivered. My grouper was tough to the point that I wondered if it were another variety of fish. It was my husband’s birthday dinner so we were offered a complimentary dessert. We opted for decaf coffee and appreciated that we were not charged for it. Overall, the dinner was a disappointing experience and hopefully an abberation given all the positive reviews submitted by other diners. If staying at the Jekyll Island Club as we were, eating at the Grand Dining Room is very convenient. But be sure to request a table along the windows toward the back of the dining room to avoid the swinging kitchen door and the waitstaff traffic.
It was a fabulous evening. Warm, delicious, gracious, and delightful!
We felt that the Sunday brunch selections did not include enough creative breakfast foods. All food was set up in a very small area near the entrance to the restaurant. The only hot breakfast food was an omelet station , and the wait line was long. This made it crowded and slow when people were trying to get their food. There was an abundance of seafood and cheese and crackers and salad items, but not a lot of other creative entrees. For the price we felt that the value was just not there. We were seated in the sunroom. While not the full Grand Dining Room experience, we did enjoy the venue.
Champagne Sunday Brunch is spectacular. Prime rib roast, local peel and eat shrimp, crab legs, made-to-order omelettes, cheese table, smoked fish table, dessert table, salad table, fruit table and much more.
Service was very slow. Friendly but slow. Escargot came out w 5 pieces not 6 and was slightly burnt. Salad that said to be made with beets, the beets were so microscopic we forgot they were supposed to be there. Flounder was not bad. The woman serving water and bringing lemon was very nice.
The fillet was excellent! Best I have ever had! One of the servers was definitely not happy to be there. Other than that was a great dining experience.
Food was phenomenal, service impeccable, will definitely choose again
We enjoyed having brunch in the dining room. It was nice to actually dine leisurely with the noise level quiet enough to converse. The live entertainment added a pleasant touch. It has been years since our last experience with true dining and plan to be back often.
Restaurant was busy for the number of waiters, but not full. Service was very good, but less attentive than on other occasions there. Wonderful atmosphere.
Atmosphere is always excellent. Food is outstanding, however my medium rare filet arrived medium. Service was great, but had to ask for things that should be replenished automatically( bread, water). Always a great experience at The Grand Dining Room.
While the service was excellent, the salmon I had needed a sauce to make it more tasty. My husband enjoyed the lamb chops , and they were well prepared. The decorations and cozy atmosphere in a fairly large room were welcoming and the music was relaxing. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate to make views as scenic as they were meant to be.
We wanted to find a unique dinner option to celebrate the holidays with my sister that was visiting from out of state. We have always admired the Hotel but had never dined there. So pretty with the Christmas decor. It was like stepping into an elegant movie set. Gracious service, delicious food & we also enjoyed the piano music very much!
We have never been disappointed with our dining experience here, whether it's afternoon tea, breakfast, or Sunday brunch. Today was no exception. The food was great, decor was lovely, and service was exceptional. What a great way to spend our 45th anniversary!
Great location in the Historic district. Dining room is a throwback to the late 1880's and was decorated beautifully for Christmas. Flounder entree was prepared perfectly and homemade Butternut Squash Raviolis were very tasty. Our Chocolate Mousse dessert was delivered in an dark chocolate tea cup. Devine experience and we highly recommend the Grand Dining Room.
The Jekyll Island Club Hotel is an outstanding facility full of history and beauty. The Grand Dining Room is no exception. It offers gracious fine dining with excellent service and food. From the moment you arrive till you leave, you are made to feel special. And the food is well prepared, presented and served with an outstanding choice for any taste.
The Sunday brunch is such a treat. The carving station with the roast beef was a favorite of our party. There are several salad options, a seafood table (with crab claws, steamed shrimp, smoked shrimp, salmon, and scallops, snow crab, and more), an omelet station, many vegetables, several other meat selections, and a wonderful variety of desserts. The ambiance is casual elegance and the service friendly and efficient. The room is decorated beautifully for the holidays. It is a wonderful setting for a nice family holiday meal. We enjoyed our whole experience. Tiffany was a wonderful server.
The room was decorated for Christmas and had a live piano player playing pleasant background music. Our service was efficient and friendly. My husband had the escargot and I had shrimp cocktail. Both were very good. He had the duck breast over fried brussel sprouts and cornbread (it was dry). I had the filet with asparagus and a potato gratin. Our meals were delicious. They offered us champagne for our anniversary but since my husband doesn't drink, they offered us 2 desserts. We were so full that we got one dessert so they comped our coffees. We thought the dessert was ok. I highly recommend the Jekyll Island Club's own White Zinfandel. Have a drink in the lobby bar before or after dinner. It's a nice touch. We'd definitely visit again.
Superb service and ambiance. Perfect for a special occasion.
