In our many years of dining here, this was the best waiter and food. Kudos to all
Service was very good. Appetizers, fresh oysters and clams casino we very good. Whole Branzino was delicious but TINY. The bouillabaisse was average for it being a restaurant specialty.
Great place to get a nice lunch or dinner, hidden in the iconic Grand Central Terminal. We took family there visiting from out of town, and this was a highlight of their trip. Food was good, the atmosphere was authentic NYC, yet also a little eclectic with a touch of throwback 70s decor. Prices are in-line with what you'd expect in New York.
Great spot. Wait staff was exceptional. I should gotten oysters. Great wine.
The Gustavino ceilings are magnificent and the historical restaurant is a treat to experience. The service is perfunctory. The food is very good. The location is perfect.
The Oyster Bar is my favorite place in the NYC area for fried clams. They had a non-traditional "dinner special" with wasabi aioli dip for the fried clams instead of the usual tartar sauce. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the different taste was, considering I had gone there for the "standard" that I always get.
Enormous menu and generous portions. Somewhat noisy but it is possible to hear your companions.
Fantastic venue and setting. The food was OK albeit I think I expected more than what was delivered. However, it was somewhere I’ve always wanted to go so perhaps my expectations were unrealistic. Worth a visit if you’re in NY but perhaps more for the setting than the food!
The wait staff must have thought haughtiness made the experience more elegant. It did not. The host/hostess and waiter were all rude and brusque. Another waiter who brought food was friendly. The food was fabulous tho. Oysters from five different places, all yummy. And NE clam chowder also delish.
I had a great lobster roll full of excellent lobster, and just a touch of mayo to moisten it. Cole slaw was very fresh and sweet potato chips tasted homemade and not even a hint of grease!
My husband had the brook trout but was underwhelmed by it. He loved the hearty clam chowder.
Service was pleasant and efficient. This is not a restaurant that’s romantic-just tasty food for commuters who want a reliable fish dinner.
Very fresh, high-quality seafood. We were impressed with the huge selection of fresh seafood, especially oysters.
The oysters were delicious. We paid $20+ for a jumbo shrimp cocktail - the shrimp were huge but still felt overpriced (not shocking given being in Manhattan). Would’ve loved to sit in the large, open, oval-shaped bar room but we were seated in the saloon. Maybe we were underdressed. Overall a yummy meal and fun to check it off the bucket list.
Never had a bad experience. Food is always great and eclectic crowd. Always visit when in NYC and used to lunch there regularly when I worked in Manhattan.
One of the most selective oyster bar I have been to. Excellent choice. Very well guided in our choices by the friendly serving staff.
The clam chowder was barely warm but delicious
