    Multiple dates available
    The Main Dining Room is the grandest space in the Oyster Bar & Restaurant. Pass beyond the maitre d’s podium and you are under a sea of Guastavino’s graceful vaults. To your right is a deep alcove; to your left, two smaller alcoves lead to a grand arched window—pair to the one in the oyster bar. Move toward the far wall, and you under a half vault, with an intimate, square alcove to the left. The floors are of square terra cotta tiles, divided by bands of light and dark travertine. Our Main Dining room is set apart from the other dining areas which can comfortably seat up to 250 - 300 guests for a cocktail reception, depending on the setup, perfect for hosting a private or semi-private event for a variety of special occasions.

    Multiple dates available
    At the far end of the Oyster bar, under a sign in the distinctive typeface designed by Hans KĂŒng and through a pair of swinging half doors, is the Saloon. You’ll find the same brown leather chairs and tables covered with red-and-white checked tablecloths, but the feeling in the Saloon is quite different from all the other spaces in the restaurant. We offer private and semi-private accommodations in the Saloon Dining area. We can accommodate up to 80 (100 with bar seating) or up to 120 guests for a cocktail reception

    Took my sister here for her birthday. I notified the hostess that she was running late and she was very accommodating. My waiter was awesome and the chef was very accommodating to my rest to have a shrimp dish poured over pasta.

    Second time at this wonderful restaurant, and it sadly did not live up to expectations. Oysters are always on point as well as the cocktails, but the main course came cold and was lacking flavor. Sadly, will not return for anything but drinks and oysters. So sad.

    Good was good, service was poor. Arrived at 5 pm. My grandson and I ordered soup and my wife ordered Cole slaw as a side dish. There were not many people in the restaurant. The soups were served at 5:25. Nothing for my wife. Main course served at 5:45, which is when she got her side dish. They enjoyed everything. I did not. I ordered grilled swordfish with steamed buttered potatoes and a lemon wedge. I got grilled swordfish covered with soy sauce and green onions and rice. At 6:00 our waiter came to ask if everything was okay. I said, Not for me, and pointed to the plate. He said he could get me some potatoes and that they were always making mistakes in the kitchen. Since I had already scraped off as much of the sauce as I could and eaten the delicious fresh swordfish, all that was left on the plate was the ball of white rice. I said, No, not now. It’s too late. We got the check and left.

    Oysters were fantastic however my main course which was a Pacific Halibut dish was a a bit overcooked therefore dry. Server offered to replace it but I was too hungry and didn’t want to wait, Otherwise I would have requested another one.

    Spectacular New York City room. Always surprising that of course the oysters were great but everything else we ordered was, too. Best selection of oysters I've ever seen, too. Just too loud, but we grin and bear it when we visit.

    Badly disappointed. Oysters werent cut and wasnt cleaned properly. There were a lot of small pieces of shell in the oysters. I would have thought this place would be better when its referred to as one of the best places to have oysters

    Awful service. The food except for the oysters was not safe for human consumption. The lobster was not fresh and tasted sour. They messed up the entire order. The oysters while good were more than twice the price of their competitors.

    The place was ok. I had been before but ate at the bar, this time I was seated in the main dining room. The Bloody Mary’s were decent but not particularly spicy. The Blue Point oysters were delicious. The shrimp cocktail was underwhelming. Not sure where they get their shrimp from but it might be time to upgrade. They didn’t taste particularly fresh and for $24, I was disappointed. The lobster meat for my lobster roll was great but the bun was not fresh and a little stale. All in all for a $200 meal, it was incredibly disappointing. It took forever to get the check and I would probably not go back in the future.

    Staff was very friendly and did not rush us to leave which was greatly appreciated. I had the octopus special. It was a little chewy and not as tender as I would have liked but the tzatziki was delicious.

    Prices are high, ambience is horrible so we hoped the fresh seafood would redeem our evening. Appetizers were good, especially the oysters Rockefeller. The halibut entree was good, but bland. The sole was entirely overcooked, just broiled dry. The waiter recommended broiled instead of sautéed, a mistake. And he NEVER CAME BACK TO CHECK ON OUR MEALS. Very poor service for a $200 meal. Cannot recommend the Oyster Bar. Stay away!

    We prefer the Saloon side. It's all great! Robert at the bar is fast and excellent. Perfect drinks and always a smile.

    I've been coming here for years, but since Covid the quality of the food has really declined - had to send my Clam chowder back after one bite - was the worst I've ever tasted and I used to live it here! They also took the popcorn shrimp off the menu which seems odd as I know it was a really popular dish. Such a shame - used to be such a great place.

    Always enjoy sitting at the independence bar, great ambiance although music selection was a little odd. Burger and pintxos we're tasty but pear and arugula salad was rather bland, could've used a more acidic dressing. But we came for the ambiance and history and that's exactly what we got. Will be back, hopefully next year.

    The oysters were ordinary. As main course, I ordered the fettuccine with scampis. The pasta was overcooked, without accommodation and no taste. So I asked for cheese. This one was moldy. They changed my dish. It was worse: there was cooking water on the plate. So I refused to eat. Fortunately, I was not charged for the main course (and I was even offered dessert). My partner ordered the Portuguese octopus which she did not finish.
