Great NE clam chowder, and great prompt service. Getting the bill was slow but otherwise server was prompt and helpful. Good ambience.

The greeter, an older gentleman, seemed uninterested in our presence- everyone else made up for it fortunately. The food was good, especially the appetizers of octopus and the tuna tartare. The acrid was okay and the Dover sole should have been deboned. But we will be back.

We came here before our broadway show. We informed the waiter that we had to leave by a certain time and he understood. We had oysters, clams and shared a main dish. Not cheap because it is in the city after all but the food was good enough. It’s a good spot for special occasions.

We enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The service was ok; it was very noisy in the cavernous space. Prices are just through the (very high) roof.

The menu is vaguely old fashioned but so are the prices. It's a little bit on the noisy side, but the food is substantial and tasty. The tuna tartar was particularly good, and the oyster stew/ pan roast had good flavor and a generous portion of oysters. This place may have the cheapest drinks of anywhere in the area. I'm glad this place has now survived 113 years. It's worth going to just be part of history.

It is now a tradition to come to the Oyster Bar when we come to NY. We absolutely love this place! Everything we have always ordered tastes very good, but nothing can’t beat the fresh juicy oysters!

Eaten there several times will not go back. Oysters were great, but fish was over cooked. We ordered key lime pie for dessert but cheesecake was tossed on our table.
