Expensive meal---lobster roll was spicy and mustard-y or horseradish-y...as a Maine person, this was a disappointment. The roll wasn't fresh either. My friend's sole was overcooked and the amt of butter given to the table was skimpy. And this was not a cheap lunch!

Have been here several times and have loved it but will never go back after last night. 730 reservation and they weren’t very full. Seated in a far back corner and waiter clearly didn’t want to be there. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and a bottle of wine. Our waiter never returned to ask us if we wanted entrees. At one point he told us he had to get home to his wife and kid and brought us the check. We sat and waited for another server. Never happened. Huge huge disappointment especially when I had brought a guest who had never been. Talked to manager on the way out but honestly what could he do at that point.

Overall, it was good. We had some shells in our oysters and they weren’t fully detached which is very surprising for an oyster bar that’s been around for as long as this one has. We came around 4:45 which was a VERY quiet time so they weren’t slammed. We also got oysters Rockefeller which was good but again, 2 of them had shells which is disappointing. The New England clam chowder was amazing and so was the bouillabaisse. The decor was a little underwhelming - our table had a plastic gingham tablecloth. Definitely pricey - but a cool experience.

The food was delicious including smoked trout appetizer, a baked oyster appetizer, a fish dish and an oyster pan roast. The service was very poor. Waited a very long time for someone to take a drink order and then one of the drinks was brought out wrong and it took over 10 minutes to have it replaced correctly. Waited a very long time for the appetizers. When the main course was brought out, both the fish dish and the oyster pan roast were cold, apparently having sat somewhere before being brought to our table. I would have given this a five-star rating right through except for the terrible service.

Seafood was not fresh. Very overpriced and portions were very small for the menu items we ordered. Service also felt rushed even though restaurant was not half full. Would not go back or recommend.

This restaurant was recommended for a trip to New York to celebrate four 50th birthdays. When we walked in we were wowed by the atmosphere and decor - we were excited for a great evening. We were welcomed with the promise of birthday treats. When we sat down we were served after about 5 mins. The first disappointment was that the fizz we wanted was not available. We ordered a different one with a selection of oysters to start. We asked questions about the food to be told that no mahi-mahi was available. We settled on two different dishes from the specials, on recommendation from the waiter. 5 minutes later the waiter came back to inform us that the special 2 people had ordered was not available. They chose tuna special which was VERY expensive, so we had high hopes of success. Nearly 40 mins after ordering I queried where our oysters were. If the waiter had been attentive, he would’ve known we didn’t have them. He then informed us that there was a back log and our food was on its way. We saw it brought out, and it sat next to the till while our waiter sorted something out. The main courses arrived but still no sign of the oysters. The waiter said we’d get these later. I said that I hoped we would be compensated for this, maybe with a free bottle of wine. He agreed to this. On tasting the main courses, the two white fish dishes were nice, but not overly hot. One tuna dish was ok and the other one was cold! This dish was sent back. It returned piping hot - even the avocado!! Both the tuna dishes that cost $56 each were underwhelming. The oysters then arrived and were the highlight of our meal. At the end we asked for the bill - no sign of the promised birthday treats! We told the waiter to keep the change which was about $9 - we are usually generous tippers. He had the audacity to tell us that service wasn’t included. We explained that there was no way we would tip more as our experience was so poor. The bill was still extortionate and we left disappointed.
