Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Grand Central Oyster Bar offers a "classic NYC experience" with "super-fresh oysters" and a "nostalgic" ambiance beneath Grand Central's iconic ceilings. While service and noise levels vary, the seafood consistently impresses, especially the "New England clam chowder" and "lobster roll." It's a "must-visit" for seafood enthusiasts and history lovers alike.

Every time I visit NY from Tokyo, I go there. It's one of the best places to take foreign visitors for dining. Recommended food items other than raw bar oysters are crab cake, New England cram chowder, and fried oysters.

I have been dining at the Oyster Bar since 1961. I keep coming back. When It ewas seedy and tired. But now that itg's renewed it's even better. The food was outstanding, from the tuna tartar to the Maryland crab cakes and the Halibut. The service was fast, pleasant and impeccable, It is a MUST for anyone visiting or even living in NYC

The greeter, an older gentleman, seemed uninterested in our presence- everyone else made up for it fortunately. The food was good, especially the appetizers of octopus and the tuna tartare. The acrid was okay and the Dover sole should have been deboned. But we will be back.

We came here before our broadway show. We informed the waiter that we had to leave by a certain time and he understood. We had oysters, clams and shared a main dish. Not cheap because it is in the city after all but the food was good enough. It’s a good spot for special occasions.

We enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The service was ok; it was very noisy in the cavernous space. Prices are just through the (very high) roof.
