We are a New York landmark with Guastavino tiled vaulted ceilings located on the lower level of the magnificent Grand Central Terminal.

Our dining hours are from 11:30 AM to our last seating at 9:30 PM Monday through Friday. We are eager to serve you again!

    Multiple dates available
    The Main Dining Room is the grandest space in the Oyster Bar & Restaurant. Pass beyond the maitre d’s podium and you are under a sea of Guastavino’s graceful vaults. To your right is a deep alcove; to your left, two smaller alcoves lead to a grand arched window—pair to the one in the oyster bar. Move toward the far wall, and you under a half vault, with an intimate, square alcove to the left. The floors are of square terra cotta tiles, divided by bands of light and dark travertine. Our Main Dining room is set apart from the other dining areas which can comfortably seat up to 250 - 300 guests for a cocktail reception, depending on the setup, perfect for hosting a private or semi-private event for a variety of special occasions.

    Multiple dates available
    At the far end of the Oyster bar, under a sign in the distinctive typeface designed by Hans Küng and through a pair of swinging half doors, is the Saloon. You’ll find the same brown leather chairs and tables covered with red-and-white checked tablecloths, but the feeling in the Saloon is quite different from all the other spaces in the restaurant. We offer private and semi-private accommodations in the Saloon Dining area. We can accommodate up to 80 (100 with bar seating) or up to 120 guests for a cocktail reception

    Doesn't stand out enough for me. Fried oysters were just okay. Maybe a house sauce instead of tartar sauce may have helped.

    Come for the oysters! Great variety and taste. Bland lobster roll and scallops. The rest was meh…waiter was inattentive, brought the wrong dish, argued with me that I had said something else, and another wonderful waiter took care of us. I’ve been coming here for 50 years and will not consider table service again.

    Was showing it to a first time non-New-Yorker visitor so the iconic decor and the excellent menu was the perfect combo!! Great oysters, great fish and fantastic NE Clam Chowder!! Satisfied!!

    Had supper with a good friend in the Saloon, by request. Excellent food! We were very pleased with the recommendations of raw oyster selections. First dozen were so wonderful, we ordered a second dozen. Highly recommend the crab cakes and the coleslaw is so good. Service was very good.

    Excellent seafood of many types and wonderful oysters whether raw or cooked. This is an historic New York institution that survives the test of time because of how wonderful it is. We were there at 11:30 for an early lunch, so it was not busy at all and we received excellent, friendly, personalized service. Will we go back? Definitely!!!!

    Outstanding service! Busboy and waiters worked well together. Drinks were great Apps were hot and delicious oyster pan roast is incredible 3 pound lobster was insane love it!!

    A classic restaurant that I haven't visited in a decade, and it still holds up. Selection and quality of the oysters were great, and well shucked. All the fish was well prepared. Only suggestion would be to pare down the menu to make it more concise and easier to read.

    My only issue regarding service is that we ordered a bottle of white wine that arrived in an ice bucket but was served at room temperature. My guests commented that the wine was finally cold as we finished our meal. Too good a restaurant to charge for white wine served warm.

    Waited 43 minutes for our check. Never got offered a second round of drinks, never offered dessert. Those are both things we planned on. It was kinda busy, not that busy, and there were workers in other sections standing around. I don't think I would go back.

    In the end, my assessment is low, since although the food and service is good, it would be necessary to notify the kitchen of the closing time, since they made us have dinner in a hurry and even pay while we ate, without the possibility of ordering anything else. Intolerable.

    We lump crab meat appetizers and fish for main course. Both were dry and not fresh. Maybe stick with the oysters.

    The seafood is not bad (living near Gloucester might be spoiling my opinion here)…but it’s really the great service and unbeatable atmosphere of grand central station that sets this place apart!

    This is a must for all visitors to New York. Superb setting with vaulted ceiling under the magnificent Grand Central station. What could be better - great architecture and great food. Stimulation for the mind and body.

    Seafood was extremely fresh and delicious. Price point on point for NYC. Had to ask for bread. Wait Staff just ok. Busboys hardworking. Hostess was cold and threw our menus on the table. Overall glad we went.

    The raw oysters and poached salmon salad could not have been better. The bartender at the main bar when you walk in was wonderful per usual. Our waiter in the Saloon who selected the perfect oysters and delivered very timely service was equally great. This is what keeps us coming back and we can’t wait until next time!

    Wonderful as always overall, but this is the first time dining yearly at OB in 22 years--- that I felt I could not afford a full entree and I had only an appetizer for lunch. I was hosting the graduation celebration meal and I discreetly did not have my of the oysters ordered for the table because I couldn't afford to order more. Was fun but I feel a little safe about the prices. Thanks, Mel
