    Multiple dates available
    The Main Dining Room is the grandest space in the Oyster Bar & Restaurant. Pass beyond the maitre d’s podium and you are under a sea of Guastavino’s graceful vaults. To your right is a deep alcove; to your left, two smaller alcoves lead to a grand arched window—pair to the one in the oyster bar. Move toward the far wall, and you under a half vault, with an intimate, square alcove to the left. The floors are of square terra cotta tiles, divided by bands of light and dark travertine. Our Main Dining room is set apart from the other dining areas which can comfortably seat up to 250 - 300 guests for a cocktail reception, depending on the setup, perfect for hosting a private or semi-private event for a variety of special occasions.
  • Saloon Dining Room Seating

    Multiple dates available
    At the far end of the Oyster bar, under a sign in the distinctive typeface designed by Hans Küng and through a pair of swinging half doors, is the Saloon. You’ll find the same brown leather chairs and tables covered with red-and-white checked tablecloths, but the feeling in the Saloon is quite different from all the other spaces in the restaurant. We offer private and semi-private accommodations in the Saloon Dining area. We can accommodate up to 80 (100 with bar seating) or up to 120 guests for a cocktail reception

    The kitchen lost my ticket, and our food took more than an hour. This was a business lunch and my client left without having had his meal. Thru did eventually give me a discount. But that really didn’t help much. At no point did the manager, who was the most offhand I could possibly imagine, apologise or seem to care about my experience. I wasn’t going to post anything, but the attitude I was given just compounded the annoyance.

    They were out of Crab and they were out of Lobster. The Chowder had blobs in it that were not potatoes. They brought our Oysters' and they all had shells in them so not sure who shucked them but it was nasty. We would never go back recommend the place except to see the room. The bathrooms were very dirty. Our waiter was wonderful and felt very bad and he did not charge us for our food as we did not eat it and left. Something needs to change there or they won't last, maybe that is why it was half empty. It was super disappointing but it did not spoil the rest of our night :)

    I had high hopes for this iconic eatery but it was more like a beer hall/ ski lodge cafeteria. The service wasn’t great and seemed geared towards tourists. We were told raw oysters would take 50 minutes.

    A New York classic everyone should visit. My wife got several raw oysters and the crab meat appetizer and she was well satisfied. We both had the Key Lime Pie for dessert and enjoyed it.

    Seated at 4pm Drinks at 4.30pm ,wine was strangely fizzy in my mouth -a dry Riesling, replaced and the 2nd Riesling had a strong oaky flavor.. after a 45 min wait the wrong meals were served. The Bouillabasse was gresy and not pleasant fish especially the white fish was oily , 2 little dried out crisps of bread to soak up the 'stew' no thanks. The fried oyster platter had about 8-10 small oyster pieces, not a whole one included. The bill was incorrect by $31 as we were charged twice for one item. Never Again

    Tired from travelling, we returned to the Oyster Bar after many years. As great as we remembered. Best Tuna steak I’ve ever had, wife had great Jumbo shrimp. Wine great. Memorable evening

    This iconic restaurant deep in the bowels of Grand Central Terminal, is beginning to show some wear - especially in the Saloon where we were seated. Main courses - a whole steamed lobster and fried scallops were excellent. I can't describe the service, except to say that is was perfunctory, at best.

    Very disappointing. Waited over an hour for food. Then 2 of us were told that Dover sole was no longer available. 2 had tuna but had to send back as not cooked as requested. Supposed to be a Greek salad but no dressing. When we asked for the missing tsatsiki we were given a herb mayo. We all ate at different times. Asked for sparkling water but was not provided. Still managed to bill us for it though. I would suggest you avoid this place at all costs. 250 dollars wasted for 4 of us. Waiter said he would tell the chef about our complaints!

    Appetizers were a bust. Wait staff was scarce so it made good service impossible. Veggies were a huge hit and saved the actual meal. Portions were small, but what food was on the plate was prepared well. Overall, I’m glad I ate dinner here once, but would not come back again.

    It took about 20 minutes to get waited on. Our appetizers came nearly 30 minutes. People who ordered after us got their food before us. Finally the main entree. I got linguine with white clams sauce. The whole dish was under seasoned. The pasta overcooked and the sauce had too much butter that all you tasted and felt when you ate the pasta was the butter. There was no brine taste of the clams in the dish

    It was great to visit the Oyster Bar. We had already decided to go for the lobster and we enjoyed to be invited to the tank and pick the one. The lobster was delicious and we enjoyed the side dishes as well as the wine. My husband’s Visa card was declined due to the the fact it needed a pin. The waiter just told it was declined and asked for another card. This isn’t the best service.

    Eating in the Saloon was great. The experience was not to be missed. The food was excellent with a very comprehensive ranger of native oysters and other sea food. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable, especially regarding those oysters, complemented by a bottle of Chablis…a dining experience not to be missed. My only slight criticism would be that a table for two could be larger, away from the wall, therefor more comfortable. I would certainly visit again should I visit New York from England in the future.

    The space is so incredible, we were really excited to dine here. The wine and service were good, but we were very disappointed in the food quality. Oysters were not great, lots of shell chippings. The fish was incredibly bland and unrecognizable, the vegetables were obviously defrosted and barely boiled with no seasoning. Potatoes were fine (if you can ruin a potato I commend you), and a pasta dish was also very bland. So disappointing.

    Un excelente servicio e inmejorable menú. Recomiendo hacer reservación antes de las 20:00 para encontrar variedad de platos disponible, la cocina cierra a las 21:15hrs. Yo cometí el error de reservar el último horario disponible en opentable, y si no hubiera sido que llegué temprano, no hubiera cenado nada! Muy mal por OpenTable que permite reservar a las 21:15hrs. Tendremos que repetir para alcanzar un crabcake ;)

    The location (Grand Central) is outstanding, and I always reserve a table in the Saloon, decorated with maritime memorabilia. The staff has a tough job when the Saloon is full, and one needs to relax a bit and not expect immediate responses. Our credit card bills got reversed so the calculations had to be redone, no problem in the end. This was the fourth dinner since the restaurant reopened, and I will be back.

    Such a good restaurant - staff were everywhere and helpful. The place was packed which added to the atmosphere. Food was delicious - BIG portions and a great setting under Grand Central
