We came to Grand Cafe to celebrate a birthday and it couldn’t have been a nicer experience. Everything was wonderful including the special birthday dessert they served my girlfriend.
We will be back!
Our waitress forgot a lot of what we asked for. She wasn't attentive. I took my mother and daughter there for the first time for the all you can eat buffet. We were mostly looking forwards to the crab legs. The crab legs were sooo dissapointing. They were super tiny, over cooked, water logged tasting. Prime rib was ok decent. Perch was way over cooked, and super chewy like leather. Potato salad had a bunch of crunchy, under cooked potatoes. Deserts were not good at all. I disliked that most deserts all have dark chocolate which I can't stand. My mom was dissapointed as well. We were hoping to finally have a nearby, good, all you cant eat buffet with crab legs. We are local to Lake Geneva. The singer was very good, and atmosphere was good. Just wish for the price, we had a better food experience.
Impressive resort with good facilities. Very clever to cover every market. Well laid out internally and good spread of buildings externally. Loved the sense of arrival.
Food and service were just okay. Nothing special.
We went there as a 6 person group to celebrate my wifes 60th birthday and when we checked in, the hostess acknowledged it but nothing was ever said or done at the table. That was disappointing to us.
Buffet was delicious, but because it's an open area into the lounge it is not the most intimate setting.
Excellent variety of food on Friday night buffet Servers are very attentive.
Great food and great service!
Piano music excellent Could listen all day My roast beef too tough to chew Birthday dessert excellent Waiter excellent Hostess excellent
Buffets are wonderful!
If you haven’t been to the Grand Geneva, what are you waiting for? We’ve enjoyed many meals at the restaurants on-site of this amazingly vast hotel resort. The Cafe’s seafood and prime rib buffet is top notch, with the server steaming your king crab legs in the kitchen. Then they bring the platefuls to your table, definitely a different take on a buffet. For AYCE on Friday and Saturday nights, the value, quality, service and ambiance combine for a pleasurable meal. It’s where we were for tonight’s dinner, and will surely return!
We have been to Grans Geneva Cafe many times. The service was horrible and then they added a mandatory 20% gratuity on a buffet. It took over 10 minutes before the server approached the table-he brought out drinks and never came back.
Great selection and food was terrific! The resort is new to walk the grounds with family!
Great Prime rib and seafood buffet for the price.
All good. Wait staff so attentive, almost too much. But I’ll take that over NO attention at competition. Love they bring a full pot of coffee, offer to have prime rib grilled to your liking and have crab legs warmed if you’d like.
For a restaurant purporting to be top shelf the food was slightly above average but the service was comparatively less than average. I wouldn't go there for a special meal.
Terrible buffet. Food not cooked. Free but no bargain.
We made the mistake of splurging for the $32 buffet which included crab legs, prime rib and mussells. The crab legs were so small; it was very hard to find any crab meat inside. The prime rib had a lot of fat and the mussels were inedible. The only item we enjoyed was the potato soup. The waitress did say that the crab legs were usually much larger.
This is an AWESOME RESORT. Great place for a quick weekend, romantic getaway. Staff was very pleasant and valets were great. Number 1 Resort in the Midwest.
Seafood buffet was worth every penny!!! If you took out the crab legs and prime rib I would still pay $32. I will absolutely be back.
Justin the best waiter ever is reason enough to go there
Everything was great and our waiter,Justin, was superb He alone is reason to go there.
Everything was great! My family had a wonderful time and my mom bday was great.
Getting around the resort was not easy, no signs to get to the cafe of your jusy going there for dinner & NOT staying in the resort. Not greeted, waitress did not explain the buffet at all, no bread was brought nor offered to us while we saw it on everyone else's table. Food was not all that great...
I am totally satisfied with the quality of food, service and atmosphere. Would recommend to all my family and friends and will definitely be back for some more fine dining.
Fried Chicken was somewhat dry. Cole slaw was warm. My husband did enjoy the buffet very much. :)
Went on Saturday night for the all you can eat Crab Legs and Prime Rib. Didn't try the Prime Rib, but the Crab Legs were very good. You get your own plate of crab legs and the server takes them in the back to heat them up. They use to have a pot of boiling water right at the buffet line, so you could watch them heat the legs up. Price is reasonable at $32 per person includes a non-alcoholic drink. Noise level this trip was very loud due to a lot of young girls running around. For the price it's a great buffet.
Our waitress Sara was amazing! The cocktail that I ordered was a little too strong for me, so Sara quickly provided a glass of sprite to dilute it. Our dishes, and soup that we ordered were perfectly cooked, we enjoyed our meal and the service. Thanks again to Sara!
I had a veggie Panini that was amazing. I enjoyed it with a side of garlic aioli. However I had two friends get the Mediterranean salad one with shrimp one with chicken. And both could not stand it thought it was not very good at all. And felt it Bland. Felt it wasn't the proper type of lettuce. Overall they were just not pleased with their meals and were very upset with the quality because the price of the salads was high
My sister came to visit me and spend the night. I am a holiday inn vacation club owner.
The buffet on Friday night was very good and especially the steamed lobster claws. The only thing I would say is that the salad area with the different lettuces looked pretty sad. They needed to change out the lettuce to make sure only the freshest produce was out. We were there early around 5:40 and it was kind of looked bad at that point.
Great food, great service. Will be visiting again next time we go to Lake Geneva resorts.
First experience was good. My family all had the seafood buffet and everyone was satisfied. Snow crab was excellent. Steamed to order and perfectly done. We've had quite a few other restaurants overcook and ruin their crab. We will be back.
Our server, Justin, was fantastic. He made the experience even better.
They had spectacular outdoor and indoor holiday decor. I took beautiful photos of our kids next to snowman, reindeer, and Santa. The food was absolutely delicious between various side items, prime beef, and crab legs. The dessert table was created by a true artist. The waiter was really helpful warming up the crab legs and cooking the beef to desired flavor. Overall my family had a wonderful dinner experience and will definitely be coming back in the future.
Horrible food for New Years Eve dining. Pork belly-give me a break. Vegetables were soft and mushy. Potato soup had no potatoes. Salad dressing choices were awful. Pasta was all dried up. Yes they had prime rib but it was rare none for medium rare or medium lovers and it was cold. Shrimp was large but so chewy we wondered if it was real shrimp. Crab legs were ok but had to wait on girl to warm them for you. Cheese and crackers were best thing on buffet. And last but certainly not least. The price was almost double what was shown on the website. We should have protested and shown them what the advertised price was but didn’t want to make a scene. Awful experience. Will never eat at an on-site restaurant again after that experience.
Went for NYE dinner buffet and it was very unimpressive. It was almost like they weren't expecting guests. Food was low quality, especially for price. Very few kids options. Took 15 minutes to get my glass of wine. Plates just sat on the table. I would skip it. So many better options on the property.
The food was wonderful. First they tried to set me over in a room with a huge party behind my table. There were many tables available where it wasn’t so noisy and crowded. I did asked to be moved. They were very gracious about moving me.
Service was horrible! Servicer did not provide menus until I asked for them...we were seated in the very back corner of the restaurant (isolated from everyone else). I will NEVER return!
Took 3 trips to the hostess to get menus. Waitress was overwhelmed. Took another 20 minutes to get food
