   Had prime rib with mashed potatoes and glazed carrots. Was SUPERB. A child had corn dogs, and liked them. Was slightly costly.... servers were very friendly but mid-end meal a tiny neglectful. It is in the lobby of the hotel, with huge windows overlooking pool and gold course. It was.lovely. Lots if background noise/talking etc but it improved the atmosphere...felt lively. I would go here again.

   The food itself was good, but there were some issues. We ordered the chicken and wild rice soup, which was pretty good, but the spoon was dirty, so we needed to request a new one before we could eat it. We also ordered the Sooey & Squeaks, which were very good. For entrees, we ordered the Cafe Prime Burger and the Prime Rib (it was a Saturday). When the food arrived, it was two burgers. We immediately were like no we ordered the Cafe Prime Burger and the Prime Rib, but then the person who ordered the Prime Rib didn't want to make a big deal of it and said it was OK and they'd just eat the burger. I sort of thought the server should've made a point to be like are you sure? I can get a Prime Rib out here, but she didn't make any effort at all to rectify the situation, rather waited for us to say it was OK. In hindsight, we should have known something was up when the person who was ordering the Prime Rib asked about mashed potatoes being the side that came with it (because it says something in the menu about mashed potatoes and vegetables coming with it) and she said no they didn't have mashed potatoes and listed off the normal sides for a burger, but we didn't realize it at the time. I can see how the two items we ordered both have "Prime" in them and that can be confusing, so maybe that's a note for management re: the menu? Or for the servers to be aware of - especially on a Saturday night? We went with the flow, but the server was awkward around us after this and obviously wanted to come by us as little as possible, which I get, but it made the whole experience awkward. The ambience was great with a 3-piece band playing in the lobby nearby. The restaurant was nice and clean with nice views. The menu was pretty pricey. I don't think a Tito's cocktail should be $12, but I guess that's what you should expect at an Illinois getaway - Illinois prices. Overall I give this restaurant 3 stars, meaning it was an overall good experience - but it could have been better.

   The entire experience started off on the wrong foot as the host coughed multiple times in my face while trying to figure out where to seat us in an empty restaurant. The comedy of errors continued as it took almost 20 minutes for our drinks to be made and delivered to our table. Our dinner order was placed which included an appetizer, and a burger and a soup and salad. All of the food arrived at the same time with the salad being warm, wilted, and brown on the edges and the burger being well done instead of medium rare. At one point the waitress attempted to refill our waters with water that had been sitting in cups on the counter of the beverage station which she poured into a pitcher. Luckily another employee saw the flaw in that decision and obtained an actual pitch of water before refilling our glasses. The waitress failed to inquire as to why none of the food was eaten during our meal and chose to ignore a clearly undesirable experience. Overall the quality of food and dining experience was sub par for a well renowned resort.

   We came to kick off a little birthday weekend. I was nervous about being there basically right off the lobby but ambiance and views were awesome. We got a table right by the window. It was nice to be among the guests - the way it’s set you can listen to live music happening in the lobby cafe /bar area but be in a totally separate area. Rice chicken cream soup was delicious. Waitress was awesome. Good drinks.

    The ambience is amazing, even in the winter, the views are wonderful. The food was very good. We had the salmon on Friday night. The salmon and vegetables were perfectly cooked and served on a large bed of jasmine rice. The salmon was well seasoned and flaky tender. Saturday lunch was also well done. We started with the chicken and rice soup, which was rich and flavorful. It was thick and delicious, I did not corrupt it with the saltine crackers provided, it was perfect as it was. My wife's turkey BLT was piled high with sliced turkey - and not lunchmeat turkey, real sliced turkey. The Wisco grilled cheese sandwich I had was equally delicious. The cheeses used were well paired and the honey ale onions and roasted mushrooms added a nice burst of flavor of their own. In both visits the staff was friendly, attentive and took the time to explain the options on the menu. The drinks were good as well, I especially enjoyed the Wisco Apple Old Fashioned! I would definitely recommend the Grand Cafe for the experience and the food!

    We went for the seafood boil And prime rib. It was to be served family style , there were 3 adults two men and a woman. The food was not all you can eat and there was hardly enough for all three of us to eat and fill up. Two small Pieces of corn in the Cobb, 3 mussels, one empty, three snow crab clusters and 5 pieces of kielbasa. The mashed potato serving was a tiny dish that could feed one, same with the veggies. The server was never around, never asked if we wanted another drink Or h20 refill. When I talked to the high up manager I got attitude and he asked if I wanted something to take home. Come on no I do not. I ended up speaking to the other restaurant manager and he was very kind and helpful. For that we are thankful. The waitress, served the woman last, touched our plates on the serving area and leaned over me the woman to serve my son. I worked at this place when I was younger, a waitress, trainer and management. This is not acceptable at all. That was supposed to be $120 in food, come on.

    Our dinner was fantastic. We each had a fillet and it was incredibly cooked just perfect moist and excellent but our service was terrible. I can’t even exaggerate how bad the service was. The waitress hardly ever came to our table when we asked for things she never came back and we ended up sitting there over 2 1/2 hours just for dinner for two it was ridiculous but we did enjoy the meal

    Food was not good, the kitchen messed up all three entrees and gave my wife and I two very sad kids sized burgers and my kid the adult one. All burgers were very bad and not served as ordered. Management blew off my polite complaint with the issue and said “better luck next time” Server was friendly and the food issue was not her fault although she didn’t take any action to fix things.

    My wife and I went here for a date night. Absolutely set a reservation. We had one and we’re seated immediately. The guy who was ahead of us didn’t and the wait for him was over an hour. It’s the Christmas season and it’s a Saturday night. That said it wasn’t too loud and it wasn’t absolutely packed. All the lights and activity make for a really nice ambience!! That’s why I picked it! My wife’s turkey BLT was delish! We also got the chicken soup which was really good as well. I got the 10 oz strip steak. I ordered it medium. It came more medium rare. If you order the steak go a level above a high quality steak house (like the Chop House next door) so if you want just a little pink get it medium well. $32 was too much for the steak. It was ok. If you are looking for an amazing steak just go to the chop house. You will pay twice as much but it’s worth it. Get the sandwiches here. They all look great!! We were tempted to do the crab boil but that’s $60/plate…minimum 2 people. The other options were prime rib or some other sea food. I wouldn’t pay $60 for prime rib ever. Too fatty. I don’t pay that much for quantity. I’d pay it for quality though. Grand Geneva is an absolutely amazing place from November 20 til end of December. All the lights, the gingerbread house competition, the live music Friday and Saturday nights and the coffee shop with all Starbucks coffee and tea is amazing!! After dinner we looked at all that stuff and my wife got a chai and I got a mocha and we walked around casually and took it all in. It was a great night and we will do it again soon!! May try the Brissago upstairs next.

    We didn't like we're we had to order the prime rib and seafood boil minimum of 2. My husband and I were celebrating our late 25 year anniversary and we went there my husband wanted that but unfortunately I don't eat that. So my very disappointed husband ordered something else .

    Big change from previous years. We could always count on a delicious meal at the Cafe. The new menu is very limited. No Friday fish fry or weekend buffet. We ordered the prime rib and seafood special which was a big dissapointmenr. Not a single shrimp. Clams were cold , hard and dry. Most of the clam shells were empty. Snow crab legs were cold and served with a nutcracker which is useless for soft snow crab. We didn’t even eat them. The corn, boiled potatoes and sausage were very good. The prime rib was ok and the mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables that came with it were good. The price of $60 per person was ridiculous. Should have been $60 for two people. The service has always been excellent until now. Very slow now. Almost impossible to get the check and when it comes there’s another half hour wait to process payment. We come every year for the same event and look forward to the fabulous experience at the cafe. Now we’re wondering what to do next year. I guess we can order pizza from town or bring our own food. We’re just so sad that this has happened. We also had the breakfast buffet this morning which we enjoyed but the price is way too high since they started charging $3.50 for coffee and $5 for juice. Both used to be included and we assumed they still were. No one mentioned that they weren’t when they were offered. It’s a beautiful room with a fabulous view and we will miss it as part of our annual weekend adventure.

    Big change this year from previous years. Menu is very limited. No Friday fish fry or buffet. We were seated on time with a reservation for 4. Our server was pleasant but our service was dismal. We rarely saw her. We waited an hour for our meals and we only had sandwiches and a salad. The food has changed and is no longer dependably delicious. I didn’t care for my shrimp po boy. The shrimp were big and juicy but the sauce and pickles were off putting. When the food finally arrived the French fries were cold. We were provided with hot fries right away. It took 45 minutes to get our checks and then to process the payments. We had to flag down other employees to help us get some attention from out server and even that didn’t work. We were seated for 2 hours before we could leave. We had allowed an hour for our meal and ended up missing our event. Unacceptable and very surprising. We have always had a wonderful experience at the cafe but something has happened.

    The server was terrible and did not know the menu. Totally unacceptable for the price of the food. We did not receive all the food that was described on the menu. She even had the nerve to say it was optional upon request. It was clearly supposed to be part of the meal and if it was optional she should of offered it. Crab legs was also part of the meal and they were ice cold and not warmed to a serving temperature

    The food choices were limited and the food was very average. We ordered chicken and rice soup and it didn’t arrive until after our meal. There was no Chicken or rice in the soup. The service was very slow as well. I would look elsewhere. Wish they would broaden the menu choices. Ambience was nice.

    Everything about our meal was amazing! We had the filet and the salmon and it was outstanding. The steak was done perfectly and my husband was able to cut it with a butter knife. He couldn’t say enough about it. There was a lot going on at the hotel that weekend but the service was outstanding and the place was very clean. Look forward to going back again.

    Tatiana at Brissago was wonderful and so helpful Justin at the spa was very helpful and addressed me by name always and Nicole was did the same and smiled and made you feel so good Becka is great and no one cuts or colors hair better housekeeping is perfecto they were all wonderful and Harry works so hard always smiling just wonderful Kathy Rex is so helpful Hedi Holley white is great front desk people are so efficient and sweet special shout-out for Margret and Aholibama and Dawn is perfect Will that answers the phone always recognizes me on a voice basis he’s so sweet and Carmen in housekeeping is very kind and so is her son Scot the engineer can fix anything so his helper key is good and all the trolley drivers and Paul is very good and the lady trolley driver and Cassandra went out of her way for me I love it here it’s my happy place this time I was here 77 wonderful days

    We had excellent service (thank you Dawn!) and the food was very good. I had the salmon off the menu and it was cooked perfectly, veggies were very good and overall it was very tasty. Husband had the Saturday evening buffet and loved it. There were so many items to choose from, from salads and veggies, prime rib, shrimp, sides and desserts. Overall, very good dining experience.

    Food was great! Only issue would be there was music playing over the speakers in the dining room as well as live music in the bar next to us. Over stimulating in that sense. But everything else was wonderful!
