Grand Cafe @ Omni Los Angeles
*2-hour seating limit per reservation for special weekend brunch buffet.
I like the Grand Cafe overall for the price, i wish they had more options wit food choice...i do like the bottomless mimosas the waiter made sure to keep our glasses full
I came here for a birthday brunch and overall had a great experience. The food was mostly delicious except for the Asian station. The kimchi fried rice was very bland and the dumplings were bland, as well. The servers were attentive except for when I asked for coffee three times. We were a group of 7 and I wish I would’ve known about the $88 surcharge on our bill. All in all, we had an excellent time.
Food was cold. Service was good.
Excellent service; mediocre food.
Excellent service. Our waiter was very helpful. He anticipated our every need. Nice selection of food at brunch. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Food is good
Food was great and the service was excellent. Will be going back.
One of the Best brunches in LA.
Great mixture of East/West and fantastic service. Food is very, very good for the price. A lot of great, diverse options and the classics are prepared very well.
Quiet, friendly and a very pretty, relaxed atmosphere while not being too casual, either.
I recommend to anyone visiting LA or locas looking for a really nice weekend experience with friends and family.
I went there for their brunch option using the travel zoo deal. Space I thought the food was OK they did offer a lot of variety including omelette station seafood dumplings and desserts however I was not blown away as it typically cost $55 per person for breakfast. I expected a little bit more for that type of price because everything there was pre-cooked in large portions so the taste was not very exquisite I did not find any spectacular value besides the crab legs which were fantastic. The prime rib was definitely over cooked it was closer to well done and prime rib is best when it is medium rare. The dumplings that were offered were the best mediocre these are very similar to the ones you find the frozen food section. There are a couple soup and Asian items such as Congee but they were lacking at best. The deal was good but I wouldn’t come back again !
Brunch was sensational, everything you might want to eat! Great seafood, egg dishes, carving station, omelettes, pastry, you name it, and included in the price, Mimosas, all you can drink, also coffee, etc.
Overall it was an okay experience. Food was over cooked, bland and dry. Service was decent however I’m pretty sure they watered down the mimosas after our first hour. I don’t think I will be returning.
We like to have Christmas brunch with my in laws. Last year we went to the Queen Mary and it was very festive. The food was good for being a brunch. My husband wanted to try something new at around the same price. We went to the Omni Hotel based on positive reviews. The brunch is probably fine if the normal price is around $35.00 but not at our payment of $65.00. The offering area was small and not attractive compared considering the price point. There weren't really festive decorations so the ambience was so so. The prime rib was tough but the turkey was good. The desserts tasted stale and nothing special for Christmas - except oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies with colored sugar for decoration. The salad bar was uninspiring. With a surcharge of 10-15 for Christmas this was at most a fifty dollar brunch but not 65.00. I felt like I was in a Holiday Inn. I wasn't going to post a negative review because the staff was friendly and it wasn't their fault that the brunch was Bah humbug but I reached out to the hotel to let them know. Our bill was 500.00 for six people and when no one really really liked their food, I thought they should know. I got a boilerplate response. A savvy customer service person would have said, 'can we get you a cocktail or something next time?' Next year we will head back to the Queen Mary or to the Biltmore which is where I originally wanted to go but my husband balked as it was $75.00 but I am sure it was worth it.
Food selection was poor and not veried enough. Not too many vegetarian options. Servers and staff were all good and attentive.
Great food and wonderful service.
We enjoyed our Christmas Brunch! I was able to keep adding people even through Christmas eve. The staff is very attentive. It was just EXTREMELY WINDY! I would've like to know we were going to be seated on the patio so that we could dress appropriately. After while we became very uncomfortable and would not seat us in a large table inside, even though we saw them accommodate another group. Our servers were top notch and moved the warmers closer to us, but that didn't stop the wind. It was just a poor taste in our mouth for the managers/hostess or whomever is in charge of seating. We all enjoyed it outside of the wind, so next year we will just request to be seated inside. Oh also they apparently gice discounts for Senior Citizens, which my mom is, but we had already paid our bill.
My boyfriend and I come for the Christmas brunch every year and love it! Always good food and excellent service but so perfect for the holidays!!
I went with favorite friends for Holiday Brunch. It was wonderful.
Convenient downtown lunch or brunch option. Great buffet selection, too.
Servers were courteous. Food was delicious. Love it! Love it!
Return visit, food not as good as previous visits. Selection limited and filling of empty platters was slow. Service with Bruce was excellent.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!
ANYTIME I WANT BRUNCH I COME HERE. THE BEST BRUNCH
Our group have been to this venue on several occasions, whether its our annual New Years Day Event or a Farewell Luncheon and it is an absolute fantastic place to go and eat!. The serving staff was so nice and accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience as we always do! The food spread is just fantastic and met everyones dietary needs. Keep up the good work!
Waiter was very poor, looked bored like he didn't want to be there.
Yesterday was the third year my office has held it's holiday lunch at the restaurant. Last year our service was fine. This year our service was terrible. The waiter was rude and inattentive. He spent most of his time rearranging tables. The restaurant was not terribly busy at the time we were there. Also, the Thai noodle salad was watery and lacking in taste. It was a disappointing experience.
College graduation celebration
The food selection was decent, but for the price of brunch it was well over priced. I was a huge fan of the large dessert selection, but not so much the service. Our waiter often walked passed our table even though it was clear we needed refill on our drinks. At one point, I got up to refill the OJ at our table because he kept ignoring my request to get him near our table.
Amazing brunch with mimosas. Great value and location.
This place is GREAT! The food, ambience, and the staff.
Great venue! Good food. Always happy to visit this restaurant.
Enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. Variety of foods. Convenient to the culture vibe of downtown.
Close to the music center. Very accommodating of our large group.
I booked this reservation for my boss and did not attend. Here is her response:
The food was very good and the service was great, even though it was a little slow to start - maybe short staffed. The servers were very nice and responded quickly to our requests.
Still wondering why no points are giving for the reservation.
As usual, good food, good service (Amy and her helper). Just wondering why I do not get "points" for this reservation?
We went to the Grand Cafe for Thanksgiving brunch buffet. We had to wait 15 minutes for a table despite having a reservation. Our waiter never offered beverage refills. There were very few vegetarian options and the vegetables offered were undercooked. The overall quality of the food was disappointing for the price. To top it off, we waited over 30 minutes for our car from the valet.
Very nice, had Thanksgiving brunch there with the family. Very nice wait staff and the turkey was juicy and savory!
We went for Thanksgiving Lunch buffet and the food was better than expected. Ambiance very comfortable and nice. Planning on returning next Thanksgiving. Everyone was full and satisfied but coming home to a clean kitchen and getting up from the table without picking up dishes was the best
This review is for their Thanksgiving brunch. For what it was, it was very good. The only complaints I had were inattentive service, which being a busy Thanksgiving at 2 pm, was understandable. Otherwise the service was accommodating. I liked the food selections, but for the following: long wait for a new roast turkey to replace the almost completely carved one. Not enough side vegetables to accompany the meal. And no pumpkin pie for dessert. Otherwise, expect the normal high energy, high noise level, and a nice dining room.
The restaurant did not have a record of our reservation. Things were a bit hectic there, but after a short wait amongst other waiting groups, we were seated. They wrote our name on a sheet of paper that had other names, even though we had made a reservation on OpenTable.
Extremely poor food selections vs the price. Only one room dedicated for the buffet. Good waiter service.
Two adult and one 8yr old child totaling $177. After the tip $208. Not so happy thanksgiving..
Hindsights 20/20, Next time I’m taking my fam back to Luminaries. Same quality food three times the size the buffet and $55 per adult.
Thanks Omni for nothing and how to never see you guys again...
