Very good about GF and dairy free. Delicious fish and good lasagna. We will be back again!! Anna
Food is very good and staff are helpful, we’ll be going regularly!
Perfect neighborhood spot for a family meal or relaxed date. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is prompt and personal. Ask for a wine recommendation and you will not be disappointed.
The food was, as always, authentic and excellent. I had the braised short rib pasta and my wife had the squid ink risotto with seafood.
Really delicious. Looking forward to returning soon
Wonderful service, very tasty food and amply spaced outside seating. Very enjoyable dinner!
Gran Gusto is an Italian food institution for Massachusetts. Besides the official acknowledgments from Italian food associations, they bring in authentic ingredients from Italy and provde a true-to-home experience for all passionate food goers. I've been dining with them with friends and partners over the years, and I'm still not tired.
The nicest and most amazing people! Please go here for the food and the family service.
This restaurant is fine. The food was decent, but definitely not the best Italian I’ve had in Boston. My date and I both had a premi and secondi. I had the seafood mix pasta and the artic char. The seafood in the pasta was really good, but the pasta itself was thick and chewy. Chewier than I normally associate with al dente. The sauce was good though. The artic char was good as well—crispy skin, flaky but not dry in a yummy butter with perfect cooked cherry tomatoes. I’d definitely order it again. The real negative about our experience was the service. It took us an hour and ten minutes to get our pasta and then 10 mins after we got it, they asked if we were ready for the next plate. It just seemed like we ordered a pretty normal dinner for an Italian place and the pace was off from what I’d expect. It was almost like they didn’t expect us to order two courses even though that’s the way the menu is set up. With all the other Italian options in Boston, I probably would not go back, but it’s good in a pinch.
Great like always! Love this place!! Freshest ingredients!!
Delicious food and great service!
One of my favorite restaurants! So reliable, service I great! I’m looking forward to next visit.
Amazing truly fresh and perfectly cooked Italian food. Owner was great and apparently all the staff is Italian. No precooked food here, all made fresh. We will be back. Would recommend.
Waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for mediocre pasta that was way overpriced. Ordered calamari as an appetizer and it wasn’t fried. Who doesn’t fry calamari? It tasted awful.
They are doing a wonderful job in the pandemic and gave us a memorable evening. Arctic char was super; ceci appetizer rich and delicious, not to be missed.
Great dinner, great service, and a very safe indoor dining experience (ample space between tables/parties, mask wearing the staff, etc).
Amazing authentic food and great service, you can't beat it.
Food like you get in an a real Trattoria in Italy. Nice wine list and super friendly staff.
Perfect spot for date night, or just a pizza and beer.
We love this place! The food, the ambiance, and the service are all great! Highly recommend this place for pizza as well as pasta!
Absolutely exceptional experience. We had the best time. Romantic, authentic, and the food was even better. We had a great time and will be back ASAP!
This restaurant was great! Service was amazing and the food was great
That was a great experience after 6 months staying at home.
Sat outside on an unseasonably warm October day. Food was superb! A real neighborhood gem.
Very good, authentic Italian food. By far the best Melanzane Parmiagana that I’ve eaten outside of Italy. The roast chicken was excellent and the salads were simple, fresh and delicious. Better than any Italian food in the North End. The service was excellent.
Very accommodating !
From appetizer to main course.
Fresh and delicious !
I would recommend and I would go again.
Always great food: salads, pastas, pizzas. A wonderful escape from today's reality.
This establishment should be take-out only. Outdoor seating with plastic chairs and flimsy tables. Traffic passing by. No candles. Dark tables at night. No heat-lamps. Paper table covers. Indoor dining at this time feels like a basement conference center. Zero atmosphere. Closed windows. No lightening. Piped in Muzak. But worse than all this is the service. Patronizing. Liking thought, follow-up, or care. A half carafe of Chianti? My server told me $25. Ends on $30 on the bill. No explanation. A small margarita pizza took 45 minutes ... and the place was empty when I ordered. The server never followed-up. Truly, consider for take-out only during this pandemic period. Spare your customers and yourselves from the unpleasantness.
The food is certainly very good but over priced. I could not understand a word the waiter/host said due to his accent & the mask he was wearing (which I am very thankful he was wearing one). The outside seating is lovely & made me feel safe.
Food was good, but service was very slow.
Another great meal at Gran Gusto - lovely specials including arancini in a parmesan truffle 'fondue' and a beautiful piece of perfectly cooked swordfish with blistered tomatoes, olives and capers. Front patio has been expanded and tables are really well spaced.
Best pizza in Boston ... and I am Italian!
Staff was courteous but took longer than expected to serve us. The tomato sauce is not the best. The bolognese pasta was 5/6 ground beef and very little sauce and little pasta. On a good note, the restaurant was happy to accommodate our guests requests for gluten free and vegan options.
Delicious food!
Great food with lots of outdoor seating. Service couldn’t have been more friendly!
My fiancé found Gran Gusto about 2 years ago. He lived in Italy for almost 40 years and was impressed with the authentic Italian food he was used to.
We make the 45 minute drive to eat there fairly often. Our last visit was for his birthday...party of 5... outdoor dining. They have done a great job with outdoor dining.... and the food, ALWAYS PERFECTO!!
Great patio and the food and service were outstanding!
We were amazed at the precautions they took for social distancing as the outdoor seating were more than 6 feet apart. I didn’t go inside so I can’t rate indoors. All staff had masks on appropriately and no time did I feel cautious. The food was delicious as always.
A great local Italian restaurant. Simple elegant and delicious.
The gentleman could not find my reservation and we had to point it out to him. A few seconds of heart stopping tension.
Tables separated well with distance and safety. All staff masked and friendly. The drinks are unusual, tasty but expensive. Our Main courses ranged from $28-30, and though flavourful, expensive for the offering. Small fish, much pasta and less protein than we expected for the price. Appetisers looked like art on the plate and delicious, again some dollars more than we’d expect. With tip it totalled almost $70 each, which surprised us. One drink each, one appetiser and main course and shared small dessert seemed high to our group.
Lovely nighttime ambiance despite Sherman St view and attentive staff. Be prepared to spend, enjoy the outdoor dining and staff, and you’ll leave happy.
