Consistently wonderful . . . Gran Gusto never disappoints.
As always, authentic and marvelous Italian specialties. The house-made pasta is to die for. The ambiance is relaxed and European. After several visits, we've had all hits and no misses.
We've eaten here several times. Food is consistently excellent, but service is spotty. It can sometimes be difficult to get a waiter's attention. Tonight the appetizers and entrees arrived simultaneously ; )
This is a great neighborhood restaurant. The more we go, the more we love it. The ambience is wonderful and the food is authentic creative Italian food.
Very cozy place with very good food that is well priced. I will definitely return.
Food was fantastic...authentic Italian we were looking for. Service staff was very engaging so we were able to practice our Italian while enjoying an awesome meal. We just wished they played Italian music over the PA. Just go..you’ll love it!
Gran Gusto is the most authentic Italian restaurant there is around Boston. Highly recommended by Italians.
Best Italian restaurant in Cambridge. Warm, friendly and relaxed - a true family trattoria with excellent food and wine. By your second or third visit you will be greeted by name.
Food was creative and delicious. Service was prompt, expert and friendly.
A hidden gem in Cambridge! Everything from the food to our charming and knowledgeable waiter was authentic Italian. The pasta was on the same level as the top restaurants in Rome. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant, so don't worry about driving to this somewhat out of the way location. I will definitely be back.
We had to wait 30 min from the time we made reservations and were shuttled to a place to stand that was bleak...but the food good and the service when we got seated good too. We were expecting another guest (who couldn't find the place and was lost) and they were loathed for us to order appetizers before putting in our main meals even though we were able to get drinks. Saying all this, I'd still recommend the place.
Good honest food. House made pasta a bit heavy-handed on the sauces. Not great bread.
Gran Gusto never disappoints! Great homemade pastas. Unusual menu items. Some of the very best pizzas in the Boston area.
This restaurant is our family favorite and we celebrate all birthdays and other occasions there. In between, we make sure to go often - we have favorite dishes but enjoy the "specials" as well.
Chef modified the special and made a custom fish dish stuffed with lobster for me, which was excellent. Service excellent. Only drawback was the location of our table near the kitchen door and big distraction from the TV at the bar. (I don’t like TVs in restaurants but guess some people do)
We LOVE Grangusto! Best Italian pizza in Boston!!! Not to be missed
Good Italian cuisine, with fresh ingredients and homemade breads and pastas. The menu has a variety of entrees, each thoughtfully composed, some unusual combinations.
My husband and I absolutely love Gran Gusto; I think it's the best pizza in the Greater Boston Area. However, the service is pretty slow. This past trip, we must have sat for over 20 minutes before ordering any food and we weren't offered any of the specials.
We needed an early dinner spot after an afternoon movie in Cambridge, so we thought Gran Gusto would fit the bill. Everything was just fair, except the wine list for Italian wines that was a nice representation of the different regions. The manager/ host was non-communicative. The other server was pleasant. We had to ask for bread and there was only one other table of diners for most of our meal.
Food was delicious, but service was poor. Wait staff never gave us the specials, and we had to call them over to even take our order. Wait staff was unable to describe any of the desserts, and the person who seemed to be the manager was abrupt and rather rude when asked to do so. A shame, given how good the food is.
One of the most consistently good restaurants in the Boston area. The food is fresh, quality is excellent and presentation of certain dishes(scuie scuie for example) pleasing. Wine list is varied enough to satisfy different palates and pocketbooks. Staff caring and efficient. All in all very nice presentation . A "hidden gem".
Delicious meal! We Went with a very active toddler. The wait staff was just so sweet to her.
This was my first time to this restaurant and all three times I have been terrific!
The Gran Gusto team was warm and welcoming. The food is beautifully served and delicious. It was difficult to decide what to order as the entire menu looked good. There is parking behind the restaurant after 6 pm (and perhaps weekends?). Or, use a Danehy Park lot 1/2 block away.
Very good value I like the cloth tablecloths on the tables very friendly service and owners very good food
I have been here several times and have always enjoy the food. This time was no exception except for 2 issues - we were seated next to a table with noisy children and, unfortunately, there wasn’t an alternate table to which we could relocate. We recognize this was more the fault of the parents and not the restaurant. However, our male server had a real attitude that evening which was a huge disappointment. He obviously didn’t want to be there and was inattentive, curt and borderline rude. I was embarrassed because I was introducing friends to the restaurant that evening after months of telling them what a great place it was. Thankfully, the food was exceptional leading us to agree that it’s worth another visit.
Tried Gran Gusto for first time based on reviews & a friend.
THE BEST PARTS
1. Sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air.
2. Immediately greeted at table with waitress. Bread in basket served quickly, and was fresh and soft - but I'd say nothing extraordinary.
3. Husband ordered the cod special. Fresh, flaky, delicious, big portion. Light and not greasy, very well prepared.
4 I ordered the pasta Chitarra (described as thick spaghetti, roman pecorino, cherry tomato) and it was OUTSTANDING. Homemade pasta, flavorful, delicious & perfect consistency. The sauce was addictive and decorated with fresh basil in the middle. I had shrimp added.
5. Easy parking found on the street on a Sunday night.
Area for Improvement
1. Caprese Salad - with a pesto sauce drizzled over it. Pesto sauce was GREAT & made the dish. Surprised to find the tomatoes unevenly sliced (some slices are easily 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick, others are so thin you could see-through) & the tomatoes themselves were cold lacking farm-fresh flavor - even in mid-September we are still getting flavorful tomatoes so I was a little taken aback.
Overall very good experience, but would not order salad again.
Rude servants, low quality food, low quality and overpriced wine list. Awful.
Gran Gusto had dropped off our restaurant radar screen for awhile, so it’s been a couple of years since our last visit. I’m happy to report that the food is as good as ever, especially the pasta dishes, and the wonderful grilled squid appetizer. Service was a bit disorganized, but it was a busy Saturday night, and the quality of the food made up for any service blips. Not a destination place, but we’re grateful to have it nearby.
Excellent food, freshly prepared and very tasty. We love this place.
Authentic Italian dishes and very friendly staff!
a great find for authentic italian cuisine in the neighborhood
Muy buena comida y atención personalizada del dueño.
Very italian coucine with handmade pasta
and best plate tradition of Naples
This restaurant is amazing! Everything was delicious and service was fantastic. Would highly recommend!
I have been going there since its inception and have never been disappointed. the owner's are knowledgeable, the food is authentic and pastas and pizzas are made in house. totally recommend this hidden gem in north Cambridge.
We're frequent patrons of Gran Gusto because the food is excellent. The service this time was very poor. We arrived for a 7PM reservation and there was no bread on the table or drinks ordered for an hour. The food finally arrived at 8:30. Gran Gusto often has very long waits but this was excessive. The waiters were doing the best they could but there were too few of them. If I were to recommend Gran Gusto to a friend I would tell them the food is excellent but the service at times is excessively slow
I’ve eaten here numerous times. The food is always excellent, the service is great and the owner cordial. I recommended it 100%.
Birthday celebration. Very nice menu with good wine options.
Good food, friendly service, nice ambience, we like it!!!!!!!!!
