We are a completely in-house production, starting with fresh, basic ingrediants in order to create homemade bread to desert.
Over 80% of our products come from Italy one time a week such as, olive oil, flour, truffles, specialty cheeses, bufala mozzarella for the Neopolotan-style pizza, ice cream and etc.
Gran Gusto never disappoints
Consistently delicious food at this neighborhood spot. Terrific homemade pasta in just the right amount. I always feel satisfied but not stuffed. I love the spaghetti puttanesca. They also make a heavenly fettuccini with black truffles in season. Last night I had the stuffed calamari antipasto...tender and flavorful. Tuna crudo was also excellent. Tiramisu was delicious as was the pistachio gelato. . The tables are a little close together but not in a cozy way. They need to work on the ambience a bit. Some nights the service is great and sometimes it’s patchy. I go for the food.
Overall, the restaurant was good. Great selection of food and drink, and the food was incredibly tasty. Portions were decent in size and moderately priced. The tables were a bit close together and there seemed to be too many tables per server, then again we did go on Valentine’s Day and it was rather busy. I would recommend this place.
Food was amazing and not overpriced. The host gave us weird looks as soon as we walked in and made us switch from one table that wasn’t great to another one that was slightly less terrible. The tables are too close together making it for intimate moments with strangers. Other than that, the service was good (minus the server mocking me for pronouncing something in Italian). Cool dude.
Always a favorite neighborhood spot. I go there whenever I don’t have time to cook for guests.
The most authentic Italian outside of Italy. Will definitely go back!
I love this place. They serve up pretty authentic Italian dishes, decent wine selection and adequate bar. Service could be faster especially given it was a slow night. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list and made great recommendations.
We had a group and everyone enjoyed their dinner! We were concerned because we had one vegan and she found something she enjoyed! We enjoyed the recommended wine as well.
The caesar salad was pretty pathetic. It was romaine lettuce alright but it was chopped and not torn, and to make it even worse, it was chopped too small, with too much of the rib portions and not enough of the delightful green leafy parts that make caesar salad so good. And it tasted wet, as if it hadn't been dried properly before it was chopped. The dressing bordered on insipid, but to its credit, the salad was garnished with anchovies, a necessity that many restaurants leave off. Our entrees were good, no complaints there. The waiter, the one who presented the specials and took our order, was a bit of a ham, being overdramatic in a way that kind of turned me off. I felt some of the other wait staff to be kind of pushy too. The bussers were thoughtful and courteous. In the end, we had a good time, and we enjoyed our evening out. I'll try a different salad next time.
Lovely and delicious!
Delightful and gracious!
Quiet and welcoming!
Excellent, authentic Italian food. Moderate price, excellent quality. Parking too! A hidden gem!
Great service and food.
We are frequent diners at Gran Gusto because it is consistently very good in every way.
Hands down the most delicious Italian food I’ve eaten anywhere in Massachusetts!
Sadly upon entering the owner was embroiled in a rather loud disagreement over a bill that lasted for about 30 minutes during which time we were largely ignored
As usual it was an outstanding culinary experience with spectacular service
This restaurant has consistently excellent food, creative dishes, very attentive service, very nice wine list.
A friendly, fun place for dinner.
Consistently wonderful . . . Gran Gusto never disappoints.
As always, authentic and marvelous Italian specialties. The house-made pasta is to die for. The ambiance is relaxed and European. After several visits, we've had all hits and no misses.
We've eaten here several times. Food is consistently excellent, but service is spotty. It can sometimes be difficult to get a waiter's attention. Tonight the appetizers and entrees arrived simultaneously ; )
This is a great neighborhood restaurant. The more we go, the more we love it. The ambience is wonderful and the food is authentic creative Italian food.
Very cozy place with very good food that is well priced. I will definitely return.
Food was fantastic...authentic Italian we were looking for. Service staff was very engaging so we were able to practice our Italian while enjoying an awesome meal. We just wished they played Italian music over the PA. Just go..you’ll love it!
Gran Gusto is the most authentic Italian restaurant there is around Boston. Highly recommended by Italians.
Best Italian restaurant in Cambridge. Warm, friendly and relaxed - a true family trattoria with excellent food and wine. By your second or third visit you will be greeted by name.
Food was creative and delicious. Service was prompt, expert and friendly.
A hidden gem in Cambridge! Everything from the food to our charming and knowledgeable waiter was authentic Italian. The pasta was on the same level as the top restaurants in Rome. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant, so don't worry about driving to this somewhat out of the way location. I will definitely be back.
We had to wait 30 min from the time we made reservations and were shuttled to a place to stand that was bleak...but the food good and the service when we got seated good too. We were expecting another guest (who couldn't find the place and was lost) and they were loathed for us to order appetizers before putting in our main meals even though we were able to get drinks. Saying all this, I'd still recommend the place.
Good honest food. House made pasta a bit heavy-handed on the sauces. Not great bread.
Gran Gusto never disappoints! Great homemade pastas. Unusual menu items. Some of the very best pizzas in the Boston area.
This restaurant is our family favorite and we celebrate all birthdays and other occasions there. In between, we make sure to go often - we have favorite dishes but enjoy the "specials" as well.
Chef modified the special and made a custom fish dish stuffed with lobster for me, which was excellent. Service excellent. Only drawback was the location of our table near the kitchen door and big distraction from the TV at the bar. (I don’t like TVs in restaurants but guess some people do)
We LOVE Grangusto! Best Italian pizza in Boston!!! Not to be missed
Good Italian cuisine, with fresh ingredients and homemade breads and pastas. The menu has a variety of entrees, each thoughtfully composed, some unusual combinations.
My husband and I absolutely love Gran Gusto; I think it's the best pizza in the Greater Boston Area. However, the service is pretty slow. This past trip, we must have sat for over 20 minutes before ordering any food and we weren't offered any of the specials.
We needed an early dinner spot after an afternoon movie in Cambridge, so we thought Gran Gusto would fit the bill. Everything was just fair, except the wine list for Italian wines that was a nice representation of the different regions. The manager/ host was non-communicative. The other server was pleasant. We had to ask for bread and there was only one other table of diners for most of our meal.
Food was delicious, but service was poor. Wait staff never gave us the specials, and we had to call them over to even take our order. Wait staff was unable to describe any of the desserts, and the person who seemed to be the manager was abrupt and rather rude when asked to do so. A shame, given how good the food is.
One of the most consistently good restaurants in the Boston area. The food is fresh, quality is excellent and presentation of certain dishes(scuie scuie for example) pleasing. Wine list is varied enough to satisfy different palates and pocketbooks. Staff caring and efficient. All in all very nice presentation . A "hidden gem".
Delicious meal! We Went with a very active toddler. The wait staff was just so sweet to her.
This was my first time to this restaurant and all three times I have been terrific!
