Because of its location, Gramercy is THE place to dine before events at Mass MoCA. Nearby Public Eat + Drink is lower key and less expensive, but does not take reservations, making it an iffy pre-concert choice. Gramercy is a bistro in name only, lacking classics like cassoulet or steak frites; but its narrow, meat-heavy menu is well prepared and gorgeously plated. Expensive for North Adams, it's moderate by Boston or NY standards - good value as long as you're not expecting a 5-star meal.

A very welcoming place in a wonderful spot--MASS Moca---but everything we ordered--soup, salad, steaks---were generally tasteless. Service wasn't great, food delivery slow, even though it was a Sunday and there were several empty tables

Food was good, but service slow and inattentive. We had to get our waiter several times for service and when we asked for attention, he gave us attitude.

Nice atmosphere, great service and tasty, creative choices. We were a party of three with diverse tastes and we all found food to enjoy. The butternut fritters starter was delicious, and the trout special was outstanding.

Gramercy Bistro is one of my favorite restaurants, and I was happy to take two out of town friends there for dinner. Our meal was great and the waitstaff was excellent.
My only complaint is about our table: it was next to an outer door directing guests to the "restroom" or to leave the building...It was very annoying to have the door slamming shut next to our table, people walking by, and one can't return that way if you do go to the restroom. That door should be for emergency exits, only.

We went out to dinner earlier this week with friends we don't see regularly. Everyone decided that it made sense to eat at Gramercy Bistro, the best restaurant within easy driving distance of Williamstown, home to all of us. The two males ordered identical meals: crab cake appetizer followed by a trout special; both females ordered a salad first course—a grilled romaine special for my friend, the regular salad with goat cheese for me. My friend had the steak medium rare and chose a bottle of red wine for the table. I ordered my favorite here (and elsewhere)—seared sesame tuna. The men extended the delightful evening by ordering French press coffees. The food is always wonderful here, though I note that the amuse bouche of pickled vegetables that has always been served when diners are seated was not offered this time. My only other complaints are that whole grain bread should be offered in addition to or instead of ciabatta, and espresso drinks, including latte and its relatives, should also be available. That said, I don't hesitate to urge visitors to Mass MoCA or tourists in the northern Berkshires to make dinner at Gramercy Bistro part of their plans.

My sister loves this restaurant so we checked it out and were pleased with the result. I had the special: sole stuffed with chanterelles and a grilled romaine salad while were delicious (5 stars). My husband had paella (4 stars). The wine list was decent. The staff was attentive and the pace of the meal was relaxed.
Will return when we visit MASS MoCA in the future.

We stop in to North Adams about once per year, and we always try to have dinner at Gramercy Bistro. We attend the FreshGrass music festival at Mass MoCA and very much enjoy a quiet dinner at Gramercy for a change of pace one night. The prices are always reasonable for the meal. We have had some very good meals, and some great ones - but we have never been disappointed. We look forward to returning.

Outstanding food on a quiet Monday evening after a day at MoCA before heading to a stay at The Porches across the street. The goat cheese garnish, greens and other vegetables in my salad were obviously fresh. The ravioli firm and flavorful and the bourbon/maple infused crème anglaise capped off a fine meal.

The restaurant is located at MassMOCA. The ambiance and decor is very nice, serene and mellow. The cocktails were well-made and delicious. The food was okay. Our chicken liver pate arrived straight from a very cold refrigerator, so that the flavors were not at all at their peak and the layer of fat on the top was like a rock. The veal schnitzel arrived room temperature and, to my taste, was overly breaded. The pork chop, sadly, was dry. I had eaten here twice on a trip last spring and had delicious meals, so this was a small disappointment. The service was good, though!

Very tasty caesar salad...just the right amount of dressing on the salad...very tasty. The sesame seared tuna was delicious and cooked to perfection. The warm bread is fresh out of the oven and quite delicious. Wait staff was very attentive. Excellent meal.

I'm sure this isn't my 1st review of Gramercy Bistro....my husband and I usually dine here whenever we are in the Berkshires and stay at Porches Inn. It is right next to Mass MOCA and the food is always excellent. I had one of their special dishes that I have had before but you don't find very often so I couldn't help myself - the veal schnitzel! My husband had a trout daily special and he ate it all up. We started with a cocktail and some pate and ended with french press coffee and one of their signature desserts....my mouth is watering!

The MASSMoca was our Sat. mid pm destination after a drive from Boston. Dinner at the Gramercy Bistro made a great tandem concept. We got to see the Nick Cave and the James Turrell at the museum, scored some finds at the gift shop and walked across the entrance court to dinner. We loved the seasonal local tomato and buffalo cheese salad. My husband's scallop prep was well received and looked great to me. I was excited to try my paella with seafood, chirizo and chicken. I liked it and had a hard time trying to eat it all (big helping). It was a little mild to my personal taste for spiciness, but I ate every morsel of the seafood and meats that I could find in the candlelight. And a special shout out for the "dark" beer recommended to me,
a craft beer called "Housitonic Tunnel something"? It was great with my dinner choice. I had no room for dessert, but my husband loved his ricotta fritters with a vanilla dipping sauce. A fun and ease of access art fix and food pairing.

Nice restaurant, pleasant ambiance. Very convenient location to Mass Moca, esp. after walking through the different exhibits in the various buildings. Minestrone soup was the best we've ever eaten. Chicken saltimbocca could have been tastier, the same for the steak.

Lovely setting next to MASS MoCA. Pleasant interior with good color scheme and enjoyable art on the wall.
The host who welcomed us was anxious and impatient and needs to take a course in hospitality. He surprised us when he turned a group of five away even though many tables remained empty and it was 90 min before they closed the lunch time.
The food is decent and the prices are reasonable.
Though the waiters were not busy, they needed reminders to get us water, check in on us, etc. They were nice enough, but they, too, could step up their game.
Perhaps this was an off day. I would return to give them another chance as the place has promise.

I went for an early dinner after a day at Mass MOCA. I was alone and it seemed that what that meant to the staff was that I was invisible. The restaurant was less than half full and I watched other tables being waited on while I sat. I ordered a drink that came after the food had arrived - and I had to go to the bar to retrieve it. My two dishes were delivered simultaneously which meant that one would get cold while I ate the first. Waiter offered to "nuke it" but that didn't seem like a good idea for a crabcake. I ordered a soup special which was delicious; the crabcake was awful, mostly bread very little crab, very little flavor. While this restaurant has potential and some of the dishes do look delicious, it has a long way to go operationally for this art-loving foodie to want to return.

Following a visit to the marvelous Mass MoCA next door, we were delighted at the airiness and subtle elegance of the space. Our starters (soup of the day, potted salmon and especially the chicken liver mousse) were excellent, and were followed by the most delicious paella I've had outside of Spain. My companions had the saltimbocca chicken with risotto, also delicious but less spectacular looking. Dessert was a sculptural concoction of gianduja chocolate and hazelnuts, rich enough for the three of us to share and unforgettable. Service was friendly and efficient and fragrant coffee was served in individual French presses. The prices were not cheap but not nearly what we would pay in Manhattan, where we live.

Went there for brunch with a friend. When our meals arrived my friend's eggs and breakfast potatoes were stone cold. She pointed this out and rather than cook a new order the chef deemed it appropriate to pop it in the microwave and return it to the table. The Croque Madame I was served was dry and flavorless. The only good thing about the experience was the server who did her best to try to accommodate us in spite of what the kitchen served up. In all it was an underwhelming experience with overpriced, mediocre food.
