We went for a Saturday brunch. Everything was excellent and the bloody Mary’s were the best
We started in the bar with happy hour and had great service from someone but we didn’t catch her name!
We had dinner in the patio and Steve was our server. He was super great! Food was awesome and drinks were so amazing. I found my new signature drink!
We will come back next time we are in KC.
Birthday dinner was better than expected. Love this place!! Thank you for the birthday bar it was ‘delish’!
Adam took very good care of my group. I can’t stress enough how well he took care of us. Adam was always there for whatever we needed , really made sure my team and I were taken care of . Adam had more than enough menu knowledge to fulfill any question we had . Was truly a fantastic evening and dining experience . Will return soon.
We were celebrating a belated birthday while we were in town moving our daughter into a new apartment. I included that info. on the Open Table notes and our awesome waitress Jennifer brought us two glasses of complimentary champagne!! The food was delicious and did not take long to arrive. Also, I had the Basil Smash, well make that two and they were amazingly refreshing!!! Highly recommend Gram & Dun!
The sweet tea pork shoulder was phenomenal. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Drinks were strong and reasonably quick to the table. The patio is very nice with lots of room and shade.
Spent Saturday evening on the patio and it was a beautiful night! Great food, excellent and attentive service by Brandon (?)
We had a great experience for our anniversary. Joan was a great waitress and we will have to make it back soon!
Delicious food and tasty cocktails in a nice setting. Expect to pay $100 for a couple buying a few drinks, an appetizer, and two entrees.
I was so excited to celebrate a special accomplishment with my boyfriend so we chose Gram and Dun. We got dressed up and made a reservation only to walk out thoroughly disappointed. I must start out saying that the server was great and the food was very good so no complaint there at all. That ends the good things I could say about our experience. Our table was so close to the table next to us that it seemed like we were part of their party. It was not cozy and intimate at all. The biggest down fall was that it was SO LOUD. It was the loudest restaurant I have ever been in. We were expecting fine dining, a calm atmosphere, and to feel pampered. We had to end up getting to go boxes midway through our meal and leave because the noise level was beyond ridiculous. I was so disappointed that we didn't get to stay and enjoy our meal and have any dessert or cocktails to finish out our evening. For the price of the food, I felt very cheated and it put a damper on our evening. We ended up going somewhere else to have some drinks to finish out the evening.
Our server was incredible. Sarah was a pleasure.
Our server Adam went above and beyond ! He made sure to be attentive but not bothersome . Adam was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and answered any questions we had with full confidence. Will be returning here soon.
need AC - it was too hot. Also the duck was just so-so
Interesting food that is good
We were so blown away for the food. I had the shrimp and grits. It was awesome!! I tried other dishes of my friends and everything was excellent. Great service, great food and wonderful Plaza location.
Went for Sunday brunch and sat outside on the spacious but heavily-populated patio. The service and ambiance were both wonderful. Had a cocktail (Spa Day) and it was simple delightful. Server was very polite and professional, and was attentive for peak brunch time. The shrimp and grits surpassed expectations...watch out Rye! The grits were rich and creamy, with each bite punching my mouth with flavor. The shrimp was cooked perfectly on the barbie. The sauce/gravy married the two together for a delectable mouth-watering, definitely-ordering-again, can't-get-enough experience. The dreamcicle pancakes were also superb...as far as pancakes go.
This place is amazing every time I'm there. I love the staff and their welcoming attitude.
Had reservations, got there and after we were seated they mentioned that their air conditioning was broken. It was tolerable at first but seemed to get hotter and hotter as the night went on. Could not wait to get out of there.
Very good experience. Shrimp and grit are the best I've ever had. My girlfriend got the soba and was very upset she didn't get the shrimp and grits because it was that good.
Went there for our anniversary dinner. Food and service was great as always.
The food was really good, but I found the waitress to be overbearing. I also felt pressured to order within the first few minutes of sitting down, which did not fit the time of the day, and there was no lack thereof preparation on my part, as I made reservations prior.
So, the food was great, and the waitress she was kind in her demeanor, but I found it a little too intense, personally.
Food is great. Ambiance is lively BUT the wine botrles are warm tonthe touch when brought to the table. It ruins the wine experience.
Unfortunately I can’t say I had a good experience at dinner here on this night. I had a reservation and the service and meal were great. We had cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Just after finishing dessert, while we were still conversing, someone from the restaurant came to the table and asked us to leave as they needed the table to seat others. We had not even been there for 1 1/2 hours yet. I was offended. While the food was delish, I don’t like the business practice of asking paying-tipping guests to leave for no other reason than they wanted to herd more guests in (I wonder if they too were asked to leave before they were ready to.). I was embarrassed as I was entertaining out-of-state business colleagues from a global company.
I regret I don’t have more kind words to share. Sorry about that. I will think twice about this restaurant as my “go-to” place.
The restaurant is quite noisy.
"The chicken and waffles are a menu staple" said our server. The seasoning on the breading was overly salty. The manager was very nice and took care of us, but it was nothing to write home about.
Outstanding food and beautiful decor. Very popular place so if quiet is what you’re after this isn’t it. We will definitely be back!
I never fail to be impressed by Gram and Dunn's food or service. We sat in a section with a waitress who previously served us a year ago, and she recalled that meal and where we were sitting! My in-laws at that time declared it one of the best meals they've had and it made such an impression on them, it still makes them think fondly of Kansas City as a whole to this day. This time I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had pork chops. Just fantastic - and we sat near the edge of the patio so we could people watch. We anxiously waited for winter to end just so we can come back to Gram and Dunn and dine on their patio. All good things.
G&D never disappoints. We lucked out with great weather (ie not blazing hot) and were seated on their outside patio. Our service (by Jennifer Q) was outstanding and the food was, as always, very good! It was also my GF's Bday and we were given some wonderful deserts and some champagne to toast the occasion. I've been going to G&D for years now and will continue to do so as they always give me a reason to return.
Definitely not what it used to be, food used to be outstanding. Now I would say it’s “so so”.
Was a bit warm. Had the big doors open which made entire restaurant a little too warm at times. Would be nice to have a section where the ac was still effective.
The meal was fantastic and the service was even better.
Scott stopped and spoke to us and made us feel welcomed.
We will definitely return as it was a great all around experience.
The tomahawk steak was without a doubt the best steak I have ever had in my life.
Gram and Dun has exceptional ambience with excellent customer service. The setting and structure of the building is most appealing. We were impressed with the onion pastry appetizer and duck entrée.
Good Father’s Day dinner.
Shrimp and grits were AMAZING! And our waitress Heather was wonderful! Great first impression
Four of us (all women) have birthdays within a week of each other, so we typically go out to lunch to celebrate. This year we went to Gram & Dun. The food was good, the waitress was outstanding, and we enjoyed ourselves over a nice meal. I'd not been to this restaurant before, but I would recommend it and will be happy to return.
We were celebrating our 30th anniversary. Andrea took great care of us - recommended a lovely wine and brought us a special dessert. We love to visit Gram & Dun every time we visit Kansas City.
Loved the food, very creative and delicious. Our server was great--right there when we needed her, very attentive, but not intrusive. We were there on a busy Friday night so the noise level was deafening. We ate inside which no doubt contributed to the noise factor.
We got a seat out on the patio and the weather was perfect. The drinks, Apps, and dinner were all delicious. Great time!
Excellent locally owned operated restaurant. Good value.
Great food, great drinks, great location
