Gram & Dun Ratings and Reviews
Love this place.. great for a romantic date or casual dinner.. good wine and whisky options.. food was amazing and service was fantastic!! We ordered the Trout and the Red Snapper...Only negative was it was loud, primarily because the place was very crowded!! Overall, a great place and one you want to check out!!
Took time to make reservations and was seated in area back behind the bar...had not been back there before, so was not aware of that space. Noise level was amazingly high, so loud, everyone back there is compelled to scream at each other. Mix of large, "party" tables of 8 or 10 people and a couple 2 tops is a bad idea. Plus all hard surfaces in that space, it was truly unbelievable and ruined the dinner no matter good everything else was. Really like this place and will try again, but this was a disappointment. Manager tried to smooth it over, tells me they know it's an issue, but I suppose better to churn customers than fix t acoustics or reduce or change seating? Not good...
I ordered the short rib grilled cheese because it is so widely recommended. I found it to be dry and it didn't sit well on my stomach. The cheese was curled on one corner as though it had been sitting out for some time. The accompanying "slaw" was nothing more than a chopped vegetable (lettuce? cabbage?) with no dressing whatsoever. In all, underwhelming. My boss attended the same lunch and coincidentally ordered the same thing. His comments were pretty much the same as mine and he also felt a little unwell after eating. He called the slaw "weird".
That said, I've had good meals here before and this place is all about the location, so... that was good. The server was attentive.
Arrived early as we wanted a quick good dinner experience before a show. Our waitress was attentive friendly and showed up at the right times. We both orders the steak and as usual was pleased with the cut seasoning and presentation. I feel the value of food and service is among the best in the plaza area.
Although the prices are a little high when you take the portion sizes into account ($9 for a teeny mimosa??), the food is always outstanding. We had Saturday brunch and were very happy with our menu selections... their versions of eggs Benedict and biscuits and gravy were interesting and delicious. And our server was great to us.
We attended Gran and Dun for the first time ever to celebrate our anniversary. It was excellent for this occasion given the ambiance, romantic menu, atmosphere of the restaurant. All of the staff were very friendly and made sure we were well taken care (without being annoying or pushy).
One of my favorite spots to dine when I'm visiting Kansas City. Went once with a large group and had excellent service, went once with a coworker when the service was pretty slow but overall (including bartenders and hosts at the front) the staff are really great. The ambiance is amazing, especially the outdoor patio, and it always seems to be busy, so love that you can make a rez. Highly recommended!
Took my fiancé here for her birthday; it’s her favorite restaurant in the metro area. It is a fairly upscale restaurant with great ambience right on the Plaza. The food was delicious, including the complimentary dessert provided for the special event. The service was very good and the price is fairly high, though, it’s what you’d expect on the Plaza for an establishment like this.
I couldn’t afford to come here on a regular basis but it’s a wonderful place for us to have a great meal on a special occasion.
Great salads, main dishes, lots of vegetables. Desserts not a priority, even disappointing. Really good service, sharp savvy waitstaff. Very high noise level makes conversation difficult. Gram & Dun is highly respected among chefs and foodies. We're from out of town and are happy we tried it!
Haven't been to G&D in a little while as I recently moved further south but went for a Bday dinner. As usual, it did not disappoint and it proved once again that its one of the best and most consistent restaurants on the plaza. (or anywhere in KC for that matter) Our server (Jennifer) was really great and knew every detail we inquired about. All the food was hot, well prepared and delish. We'll certainly be back again, just not as soon as I would probably like!
One of our go to places, for sure! Dinner was very good until it came to coffee time! First round of decafs coffee was barely warm. He offered to put on a fresh pot, which he did, it was piping hot, but not decaf. The entire party did not sleep that night. It was a mistake, but not fun for those of us up all night. I will not order decaf at G & D ever again!!!
Bring back the "crack pie" Please
A tradition for our annual anniversary trip to KC. Sitting on the patio, in the sun, by the fire in October. Perfect day only made better by the table side bloodys and mimosas. Great food and service. Highly recommended! We’ll be back next year for the 5th time for sure!
