Gram & Dun

I was there with 4 others for a 2:15 Easter Brunch pre-set menu. They ran out of prime rib, the Amish chicken was under-cooked. They also ran out of one of two deserts. For 35 dollars per person plus drinks you would think that they would be better prepared. My desert came out later than the other four and by the time I received it the ice cream was melted partially. Finally the 12 dollar additional bread board had no bread or rolls just pastries and biscuits. We asked for more biscuits and got charged an additional 12 dollars. Money is not the issue but rather the principle. I have done holiday brunches previously at Gram and Dun. The set up was a buffet and was outstanding. I was called days before the brunch to tell me that it was a preset menu which I had the entire party look at in advance as it was too late to make new reservations somewhere else. This would have been acceptable if the chicken was cooked and the prime rib and desert were available. I will not be dining at Gram and Dunn again nor will I recommend it to anyone.
Gram & Dun is a "go to" place, especially for special occasion brunches. They typically have a fixed price menu and lots of variety. We went for Easter Brunch and were not disappointed. Our server was very good and I appreciate that items from the bar or kitchen are delivered by runners as soon as they are ready. I also appreciated the way that they handled being out of one of the items that we had selected. They gave us several choices that were not on the menu. It was a beautiful day in Kansas City and they had the doors open to the outdoors which was delightful. Check out Gram & Dun, I know you will not come away hungry or disappointed.
Server was excellent and the food was great.
Firstly, we dined on Easter Sunday. A challenging day for the restaurant.
1. The Pork Wings were terrific. Loved them.
2. All the starches on the entree plates were luke warm to cold. The same is true for the plates. Hot food=hot plates.
3. If you're offering burnt ends, WHY would I want them buried under a pile of under-seasoned, rather flavorless macaroni and cheese? WTH!
4. Burnt ends are not a braised meat, they should be somewhat crisp exterior with evidence of a smoke ring.
5. Macaroni & cheese is supposed to taste of cheese, salt, pepper etc. Someone didn't taste their food.
6. Seriously, three shrimp on the shrimp and grits?? I think you all can afford to put four or five on the plate!
7. GD bar for dessert was surprisingly good. I kinda hope you all made it in house.
8. Who eats pound cake for dessert? There was nothing appealing about that dessert choice.
We had bragged to our friends how great the Pigs Wings appetizers were but they fatty and tough this time and the meatballs were nothing special. After the disappointing start the entrees followed the same pattern, the bouillabiasse was mediocre and the battered pork chop had no flavor. The gooey brownie dessert dry. The location and atmosphere was fun and energenic but unfortunately the food has gone downhill, probably will be our last dinner visit.
Love their patio! And the food is always delicious!!
Easter weekend Saturday. Beautiful day looking out over patio to brush creek. Server, Sierra, was excellent. Four family members sampled lots of items. Do not miss the cinnamon roll. The pimento cheese appetizer with toasted pita outstanding. Favorite entree: Mac n Cheese with Short Rib. Also excellent: Black Bean burger and Short Rib Grilled Cheese. Excellent fries and slaw. We loved everything about our Plaza lunch at Gram & Dunn on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Definitely make reservations!!
Excellent service. Excellent food. Top notch as always!
Out to KC to visit our son. Sat at the outside bar on a sunny and warm Friday afternoon. Drinks yummy, food delicious and bartender Joe the best. Stayed for about 2.5 hours with no one rushing us. There is s pretty big fire pit to sit around- very chill! Overall a really good experience.
We love G&D and always come for special occasions. The ambiance is amazing - especially in the Spring/Summer. Open air, patio dining is the best. You get the Plaza atmosphere without being in the middle of lots of people constantly walking by. The menu, while not vast, is amazing and has something for everyone. Their bartenders are fantastic and mix those drinks just right!
It was excellent as usual. Will be back the next time in town.
Friend in from out of town and she loved it!
As always the experience at Gram and Dun was incredible....we went for Sunday brunch and had a great mix of appetizers...the Asian pig wings are always our favorite but for brunch they had cinnamon rolls that were delicious as well. Meal was very very good and has been every time we have eaten here and the service was accurate and prompt as always. Love Gram and Dun
Great time as usual. Great drinks, food and service!
Everything was good but it is noisy and that makes it hard to carry on a conversation. Too many hard surfaces. Nothing to stop the noise or echo. But this is typical of so many restaurants.
Family in town visiting.
My boyfriend and I went here for an anniversary and our server was so polite and patient with us when we were trying to find something from the menu. She made recommendations and offered her help which was very useful. I would definitely recommend going here to anyone that loves a nice relaxing environment where you never feel rushed. The staff is absolutely amazing and truly care about your experience.
Always a fabulous meal with great service!
Excellent patio during good weather. Took longer than stated to be seated, but our server was great.
The food was good and our server was great. However we were very disappointed that we did not get an outside table as we had requested. There were 3 tables the same size as ours that they said were reserved for 6:00 , our res. Was for 5:15. Kind of crummy that they prioritize some reservations over others. This isn’t the first time we’ve had problems with our reservation. Think we’re done with Gram & Dunn. So many other great places on the Plaza
The food was great and our server was excellent. We enjoyed the patio seating it was a great ambiance. I will continue to recommend Gram & Dun to my business associates.
Perfect patio setting for a spring day. The cocktails are phenomenal and a diverse food menu. Service was great. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Will definitely be back!
Our server was wonderful...sorry, can’t remember name.
Husband huge pork chop..he said was wonderful, tender and delicious! Best catfish dinner!
My birthday dinner..exceeded expectations!
Very good food and wine list. Service was excellent. Valet parking. A little loud, but a Friday evening and not unanticipated.
Pleasant looking restaurant. Too loud to carry conversation easily. All three of us thought the food had too much salt, sugar and fat in every dish which hid the flavors of the food underneath. Disappointed.
This was our first visit to Gram & Dun. We were celebrating our Anniversary. The staff was very friendly and the service was very attentive but not intrusive. It was a great experience.
Gram & Dun is an absolute fav! Their food is delish, they're happy to customize, their craft cocktails are awesome & the staff is always really warm & helpful!
Had wonderful service and delicious food. The scallops and hangar steak were delish! Our server was so sweet to make a dessert for our friend with some treats we brought in and she went above and beyond.
Service was awesome but restairant is so loud. Hard to talk to anyone who is not next to you.
Food was good. But for the cost I expect great. Nice service, ambiance, and drinks. Just a little pricey for the level of food you get.
We continually have great experience at this establishment.
Met there 3 years ago and celebrated our anniversary too.
Patio is so amazing! We enjoyed our food and the service was great even though it was busy.
Great dining experience as always. The brunch is always amazing. Great service as well.
Fun location for lunch, lunch specials were delicious!
Had the egg salad and salmon toast it was outstanding as was the waffle. We really enjoyed our meal
Good food but couldn’t believe the size of the two egg whites I ordered it was maybe the equivalent of one large egg
My husband, brother and close friends met for a nice brunch this past Sunday. We always enjoy Gram and Dunn! I’m surprised at 11:00am there were already items on their menu they were out of... I.e. the 9 grain toast and original cinnamon rolls. There was also a fairly long span between the time we ordered and got our food where we didn’t see our waitress. I know brunch is a busy time and especially with St. Patty’s day but a few of use we’re completely out of coffee. Food was delicious when it arrived!
We had a great brunch at Gram & Dun. My only complaint is that the bathroom was dirty and very smelly.
