Graham's at Squaw Valley
The owner, Graham, was there and shared the history of the place with us... there’s quite a history to the building. He’s a great host, and we truly enjoyed how he made us feel like locals and very special. That was just a small extra on a lovely meal. The food was excellent, and perfectly prepared. I had an elk chop and my date had a filet ... perfect. This is a great place for a romantic dinner, or a night out for a great meal anytime.
Service was low key and excellent. I had Elk, medium-rare and it was cooked perfectly ... that rare look yet cooked to perfection. Ditto for my girlfriend and her buffalo. Appetizers were also perfect. The chef was great tonight. Would highly recommend
We were warmly greeted by the entertaining owner who shared the history of both the restaurant and previous owners, whose family founded Squaw Valley as s first class ski destination.
The ambience was warm and felt exactly as you would expect at a ski area. Service was attentive and well paced. The food was very good - fresh and well prepared and good sized portions. Duck breast was delicious . We willl be back when we are back in Tahoe.
To be honest....we were uncomfortable when we first walked in the restaurant. It smells old, the carpets are worn and the dining room is tired. But we stayed because everything we’d heard from the locals was that the food is fantastic. And they are right. It seemed that the “oldness” went away when the room became crowded with locals and we were eating fabulous food. We will be back!

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner at Grahsm’s so much that we went back a second time.
This is a wonderful place to have dinner. They have an excellent wine list. We had the asparagus appetizer and a Cesar salad. Both were superb. The asparagus was not over cooked. My wife ordered the buffalo ribeye. I had the duck. Both were perfectly prepared. We shared a Linzer Torte for dessert.
Two nights later, we stopped to have some drinks at the bar. Graham is a consummate host, holding court from his seat at the end of the bar. The other patrons were very interesting people. Conversation flowed freely.
You must visit Graham’s.
Horrible sewer smell, no music, irritated wait staff. Good was pretty good, but not good enough to offset the first impressions... :(
Great place great food we will be back for sure
When in Olympic Valley at dinner time this is the place to go. Very ecclectic menu. The night we were there they had an Elk Chop and a Bison Ribeye Steak. We gohere every year when we come to Squaw Valley.
The food was good, but the atmosphere was poor. There was a bad smell when we came in. The place is in need of a renovation, very dated, old carpet that didn’t look very clean, and the place just didn’t look well kept inside and out. There were people in the bar that were very noisy, getting drunk and using offensive language which made it not a very relaxing environment for fine dining.
Graham's is my favorite restaurant in Squaw Valley for an excellent & quiet dinner. Friendly service and great seasonal specials. Last visit we had ahi (appetizer), scallops (favorite appetizer), elk loin, salmon, and more.
we celebrated our anniversary with friends. Food was delicious and menu offers lots of choices. Wine menu good as well. The tarte tatin is a must and a regular on the menu. Server was friendly, helpful in selecting wine.
Great food. Everything the six of us ordered was excellent. Reasonable wine list, and pleasant service.
We returned to Graham's after about 10 years. We found the experience just wonderful. 6 of us ordered just about everything. I had the Quail which was good but didn't knock my socks off. Small bird small appetizer. The Elk chop on the other had was fanominal. Perfectly cooked and tender with the lingonberry sauce. Delightful. The other members of our group all enjoyed the crab legs, Halibut, New York steak, and seafood pasta. I could go on and on, but all 6 of us were very happy with our dinners. Our server had a wonderful dry sence of humor and was an enjoyable addition to our fine dining experience. We will be back and we wondered why we had not been there in so long. Very good wine list as well.
The food was great and the service was outstanding.
Our friend anniversary was acknowledge.
We had a wonderful time celebrating it.
Will be visiting them next time.

We had a wonderful dinner to celebrate my birthday with friends at Graham’s. Everyone (including Graham himself!) was warm and attentive. The food was delicious. My halibut was a very generous serving. Cocktails (cosmopolitans) were great and we loved the warm bread served with both butter and artichoke spread. A perfect birthday dinner!
I try to get to Graham's just about every time I visit Squaw Valley. It's definitely my favorite local restaurant (and I've tried them all!). Friendly vibe, intimate dining room (with a roaring wood fire in the winter), and stunning food.

The artichoke dip and warm bread say welcome every time we come. The duck breast and salmon were cooked to perfection
Waitstaff was very attentive and the food was amazing.
Tomato salad and buffalo ribeye were the highlights. The oysters were awful. Food was average at best. Place needs a renovation.
This was a perfect evening to a Father's Day Weekend. Very quiet and peaceful time for our adult children and us, with a lovely meal in a quaint old-home restaurant. Felt like I was sitting in grandma's dinning room. Also enjoyed a nice chat with the owner on our way out , and he made us feel even more at home. We will be back.
Definetly will go back. The food and service was amazing. The fish soup was one of the best ever. Great wine list.

Everything was wonderful, wish we didn't live so far away.
I love the warm ambiance of the fireplace and the booths and that the tables are nicely separated. The service was excellent from the welcome by the owner to the very nice wait staff. I ordered the special paella and the special stuffed smoked salmon. Bothe were the most expensive things on the menu which was not noted when presented to the table. Both were tasty, but the paella was more like a soupy seafood rice dish, none of the crisp bottom or saffron taste that is usually seen with that dish. It was easy to separate the clam and mussel meat from the shells in the dish without wearing it, but leaving the hard tails covered on the shrimp made for a nice mess trying to get them off. Finally had to jump in with fingers to separate the two parts. Don't know what they are left on. I'd recommend that you switch to risotto rice and call it that instead of imitation paella.
Upon entering the restaurant there was a musty smell. We ordered the special paella and it was bland at best. Very soupy and although well stocked with seafood lacked any flavor. The service was fine but would not recommend the restaurant especially considering cost.
Odor from the bathroom emanated throughout the restaurant.
Wonderful ambience and view over Truckee. Very fun evening and skilled servers. Loved it.
Overall a great local, Olympic Valley high-end dinner spot relative to the food experience. Great (but limited) choices of mostly red meat dishes (my wife's seabass was excellent). My lamb shank (the special for the night) was small but very good. A pretty good wine selection too. Our waiter was bland in personality with low-grade service (e.g. Did not continue to fill our wine glass during our main course...we 'self served'. I will go back...but hope to get a different waiter.
My husband and I always have to go have dinner at Graham’s every time we are in the area. We love it!
Where’s the magnificent Caesar salad? Wasn’t on the menu this time. However the special, seafood paella, was scrumptious
There were 6 of us for dinner. We got there at 7:15, which was the time of our reservation.
We didn't see our waitress for 20 minutes although she walked by us, waiting on other tables. A manager finally acknowledges our unhappiness and got us water and menus.
They had also placed us by a large fireplace which that for some, made it very warm and uncomfortable.
The food was just ok, not at the same level as the other 2 restaurants we visited on this ski trip. I had the baked oysters for an appetizer that just had little flavor. My ahi tuna main meal was good but not great.
Their wine list was probably the highlight. There were lots of choices at all price levels.
Also, she automatically added a 20% tip that we all thought was inappropriate.
We had eaten at both Christy Hill and Plumpjack's Cafe the 2 prior nights and unfortunately, Grahams just didn't compare...
Ugh, Graham's is such a beloved restaurant especially for those who stay in Olympic Valley. This was my first time to Graham's and I had heard many great things about the restaurant so we were really looking forward to our visit.
When we first walked in there was a subtle, but a bit off-putting, scent in the air; probably just a winter-issue where they couldn't open the windows too often, I thought.
I loved the decor - it reminded me of quaint Austrian or Swiss restaurants in the Alps.
Our appetizer, a fabulous smoked salmon dish with really interesting flavors, got me more excited about what was to come. Plus, the bread was very warm and wonderfully tasty.
Next, however, came the calamari. The pieces of calamari were greasy and there was a pool of oil at the bottom of the dish. We ate it 'happily' reflecting on such a great first course.
Then came the special of the night which my companion and I consider ourselves great connoisseurs of - paella. They didn't mention the price, but I accept responsibility for not asking. To their credit they split the entree for us.
So, as you probably know (not to be confused with the Graham's kitchen - ouch, petty), paella usually comes in a cast iron 'paella' pan where much of the rice (Bomba) sticks to the pan because of the fabulous flavorful curing process during cooking. What we got, however, were two bowls of non-savory rice with various seafood and fish on top. It was not tasty, it did not seem fresh (our fault for ordering seafood in the mountains) and it was definitely overpriced. $40 for the entree.
Admittedly, we may be outliers. When we left the restaurant was packed. So obviously lots of people know and love Graham's. We discussed it the next day and are willing to give it another chance. But it wasn't what I hoped for. I hope this review is not too negative; I just want others, as well as the restaurant, to know it's not up to par.
