The quality im doesn’t seem to be what it used to be
Great vegan food. I loved the butternut squash quesadilla and the mole. The spicy margarita really does have a kick. Ended our evening with the chocolate mocha cheesecake which was so deliciously velvety
It is ridiculously overpriced for what you get but honestly it was the service that ruined the experience. We were a party of 6 and so maybe the server knew they would already be getting a 20% tip? Whatever the reason it made us all decide to never go back. Also- the rice in the burritos was still crunchy and none of us were impressed with our orders. The restaurant itself is cute and could possibly be a good date place- just be aware of the issues.
Despite the reservation we had to wait for 45 minutes in cold outside. They should not over book the reservation.
So delicious and one of our family favorite spots!! It is wonderful for meat-eaters too!!
Best tacos I’ve ever had, very friendly, amazing environment! Loved it all. Will definitely go back!
We were in town for a week and found this restaurant online. We were very happy with our find! The cocktails were really good and so was the food. Their mole sauce was outstanding--the best I have ever had! It isn't super close to tourist areas, so we took a Lyft, but it was well worth it. We aren't vegetarian or vegan, but the options were great.
It is so rare to find an all vegan place with this big of a menu! So many amazing choices and we can’t wait to come back again and again to try them all. We had the nachos which were so fresh, not like overly heavy greasy nachos, the burrito, flautas, flan, and fruit cobbler. Everything was very tasty and we promptly fell asleep when we got home because we were SO full! What a gem.
Service was slow and forgot to write down food. It took easily 30 minutes for them to bring the bill, we had to take the credit cards to the staff
Amazing food. Even the non-vegans loved it!
I am a long time fan of Gracias Madre loving the local and fresh produce. It’s been two years since we visited and we were quite disappointed in the new menu. Even though it seems to offer more choices it actually felt more restrictive with a number of dishes being similar. The burrito was mesh and the chips and guacamole way overpriced. It felt like many of the meals were easy to have ready and prepared ahead of time. Perhaps this is an adaptation to COVID. Expensive meal for not nearly as delightful as it used to be.
First time back since the pandemic began. Went on Monday and got $5 house margarita. It was a yummy meal for vegan restaurant but not the most amazing meal you’ll ever have.
Everything was awesome! The service and all the food!
Always a great experience and fantastic food! Do it!
good food, small portions, good margaritas, would recommend
We had a really nice dinner -- pozole, flautas and tamal. Everything was delicious and the service was very attentive. I look forward to visiting again.
Lovely food & service
Definitely recommend it
Didn’t miss meat at all
Hard to believe it’s completely plant based / vegan food
It was my birthday and heard good reviews about this place last night. I am a server as well but our server was the bartender and he neglected us the entire time. We were never able to get drink refills, not even water, my food never came out and he didn’t notice or even check on us. He said he was really busy and to give him a minute but then kept refilling the table that came after us drinks, and they got their food before us. If I wasn’t in a good mood for my birthday our dinner would have been ruined. Good thing we weren’t starving either
Food was delicious. Hadn’t been in two years. Love the food.
Service was just fair. I was mostly ignored and had to ask to order everything. No one checked in on me to see if I wanted anything. Had to flag down the server for each drink and food. Annoying.
Fantastic food and authentic feel. A wonderful vegan twist on Mexican cuisine, and great value to boot.
We sat outside in front of their beautiful mural. We both had their burrito and coffee. Absolutely delicious! And the service was excellent. The whole staff was very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant. Eat delicious and climate friendly foods.
In terms of the food, this is my favorite vegan restaurant in the Bay Area. The only drawback was the increasing number of homeless people and filth evident right outside the door on the sidewalk and in the street. It seems to be getting worse in the last couple of years.
Good food, good service. But the house music belonged in a club, and was too loud and irritating.
Absolutely amazing!! I am vegan and was in heaven!! Came with two omnivores and they also loved it. Best part was ALL VEGAN COCKTAILS!
My favorite restaurant for a vegetarian meal - good food, friendly service, and well priced.
What has happened to Gracias Madre? We've been dining here for years and the changes they've implemented to the menu and service leave me questioning if I would want to ever eat there again.
Even taking the COVID pandemic into consideration, the service is horrible and the manager on duty during our visit this past Saturday completely lacked any understanding of their menu items. He noted he had only been a manager for 3 weeks. Again, even taking that into consideration, my meal was way off from the countless times I've ordered it over the years. It was cold (supposed to be hot), far smaller then every other time I've ordered it by 60%, turned into some type of mash versus individual components. It lacked flavor and being cold or at best, room temperature was off putting. The manager reluctently offered to send another one out to the table. He admitted it should have been served hot. I even took the time to show him what it should've looked like from a previous review I posted. He didn't hardly say a word. The replacement eventually arrived to the table, same size, same room temperature. The manager never stopped by the table again to check and see if it was better. The check came from the server while we were stilling eating, never asking if we wanted anything else. We paid and left. Doubt we'll be back after supporting this restaurant for well over 5 years. A very sad experience.
Enjoyed the food. Love that they are all vegan. There was a hiccup as forgot to add guac and vegan sour cream even though I ordered it. They did give it too me on the side once I realized it wasn't in the burrito. I thought the server was a bit rude and at first wouldn't split our bill yet finally did. Felt she could have been nicer.
Very good for vegan food, especially because I’m not vegan. Expensive for sure. I probably won’t go back again. My vegan daughter probably would. The posole was really good, especially with the “carnitas” aka jackfruit.
My favorite place to stop in the mission! Everything is always better than I expected.
The margaritas and burrito were awesome!
Food was amazing! Will definitely come back :)
Very impressed with Gracias Madre. We arrived a bit late and even though the kitchen was about to close, they still let us place a last minute order and dine. We really appreciated that service.
The food was delicious and with a great Vegan menu. Overall excellent experience. Highly recommend.
I have a variety of food allergies and am a vegetarian it accommodated both. Fun vibe and atmosphere great drinks reasonably priced. Definitely a go to
Gracia Madre was fantastic. Despite being in the Mission District, the primary outdoor seating (there is some seating out on the sidewalk, which is not behind the wall/gate) was beautiful and quiet. The service was incredible from start to finish, with the feeling of the best kind of local restaurant. The food managed to exceed all of my expectations. I eat mostly vegetation (with a few cheat days), and the vegan dishes served here satisfied my desire for Mexican that excelled most of the traditional Mexican restaurants I've eaten at (my dad is from New Mexico, so that is more than I'd like to admit). The totopas were incredible, my flautaus were fantastic, and my wife's cauliflower taco and vegan chorizo quesadilla were amazing. Also, the hibiscus margarita and horchata were great. Don't miss this unique gem of a vegan restaurant.
Waiter was inattentive and food was bland.
This is our fourth time here. It never disappoints! Every item on the menu is top notch!
While the menu states plenty of gluten free options, there is rampant cross contamination so if you have a true allergy there is close to nothing you can eat. It was loud, freezing cold from fans pumping and service was slow. I was texted that my table was ready 20m before my reservation and called 3 times to busy signals to make sure we wouldn’t lose our spot… what’s the point of making a reservation at a certain time if it’s not honored???
We had delicious bacon wrap, torta ,flan and coconut ice cream. Never disappointed with food.
Wonderful, complex flavors and the food just happens to be vegan. A warm, comfortable and casual atmosphere, thoughtful attentive servers. Great place.
