Grace's Mandarin Ratings and Reviews
To be truthful from the food point-of-view, I did not find Grace's Mandarin to be what I was hoping. The restaurant ambience is wonderful, the staff is great, and the view is terrific from the second floor windows. The menu had interesting selections and variations if you are really into seafood. However, the dishes fell short of hopes - they were, for me, just bland tasting. Grace's in Bowie (when in operation) had wonderful tasting dishes by comparison.
My apologies Grace, I really wanted to experience better.
The food was amazing as always. Soo tasty and a nice portion size. The server was very helpful and gave excellent menu suggestions. the only thing I would say is that it was rushed. It would have been nice to have had some lag time instead of feeling like we were being pushed out. They were not really busy so it was not that they needed the tables.
My family and I have eaten here (I believe) 4 times. We live in FL but are in this area at least once a year. We enjoy the food quite a bit but I do think that their portions are small given the price. In particular it seems that their sushi rolls are not nearly as big as we always want them to be.
The food was quite good. We had a spectacular view of the frozen Potomac River. What made this experience special is we had lunch for my daughter’s birthday. We met and greeted her at the front door and gave her birthday greetings. When the meal ended, our server presented her with a small birthday present. We never asked. It was just a nice above and beyond touch.
We went on New Years Eve. Our waiter was just fantastic. He took care of all of our requests (3 vegetarians) and he was timely with bringing everything we needed. He even heard one of our forks fall from across the room and came over with a new one. The restaurant was beautiful and the view of the water was great. The only drawback was our dishes we ordered didn’t come with some type of sauce, so we requested hot peppers and Sriracha to top it off. It’s also little pricy but definitely worth a nice night out!
I love Grace's. It is a huge restaurant that is designed beutifully. The only reason I was unable to give 5 stars is because the waiter was extremely busy so we simply had to catch him on the move to order, refill drinks, etc. The place is dimly lit which gives it more of a date night feel, so dont take grandma unless you are fine with reading the menu to her with the flashlight from your phone. Lastly, in such a bustling place the noise level can occasionally creep up.
Excellent food and great service!!! It was a Friday night before New Year's Eve and so even with a reservation, we had to wait about 15 minutes, but it was worth it! Crab Rangoon and calamari appetizers were delicious. Crab fried rice and both Mandarin and teriyaki chicken dishes were yummy.
The food was terrific, as usual and the server pleasant and competent. However the floor management seem to have changed and the dining experience is suffering. We were with 3 older parents and crammed into tables between many children - no thought to comfort of converstion as there hs been in the past. Additionally the main course came before we were halfway done with the starter - and the couples near us had the same experience and also sent theirs back. Our supper jut sat there getting cold while we finished our soup insted of properly being returned to the kitchen or having the manager queue servers and the kitchen to the high level of service previously encountered. Intead of a curated meal we felt rushed and as if we hd stumbled into a joint on the corner with good food an a lousy ambiance. I hardly think that is what grace was going for in her flagship location. Fire the floor management and bring back a profesional. The door staff was eqully untrained amateur and rude. An uncommon restaurant has become common.
We requested a table with the water view a few hours before and the staff went out of their way to accommodate this request. The atmosphere was romantic with moderate noise. Our waitress, Sara D, was knowledgeable about menu and drink selections and provided excellent service. The sushi was amazing and was some of the best we have ever had. We will definitely be back! It’s well worth the money!
Service was a little slow, but it was a busy night being Christmas Eve.... our waiter did not understand our question regarding the teas they offered. We were told sweet tea and non sweet tea only, when we received the dessert menu, there were many specialty teas offered! But the food was so good we will over look this mistake. Definately a neat place to dine at!
This place could be great with more attention to the food. The menu looks adventureous, but the entrees actually fell short. My scallops were doused with some heavy terriyaki sauce that made the entree on par with Applebees. The house salad was too spicy for my husband's and son's taste and they like it hot. The wait staff was very gracious and efficient. The location is great on the main pedestrian street of the National Harbor. I'd return if the kitchen staff stepped it up a couple of notches to match expectations of something really special.
