Grace - Portland
The ReUse of a Methodist Church for a dining experience was something we were very interested in experiencing. We were delighted with the Ambiance, the service, and the food. Preparation was well done. A beautiful charcuterie menu and matching Cheese's period a delightful wine list all came together for a very lovely evening. Our server Garrett was one of the best servers we have ever ever had. When we return to Portland we will return to Grace
Amazing we had so much fun celebrating our 33 wedding anniversary
Went out for a dinner with the lads expecting a fun night with good food in a unique location. Instead, we found the decor to be rather underwhelming and the food was very confused. The attention that was given to the protein of each dish did not go unnoticed. Amongst us, we had chicken, halibut, and rabbit - all of these were beautifully cooked. However, the sides that accompanied these proteins only detracted from the dish and made us question if anyone had bothered to sample the food before sending it out of the kitchen. The only redeeming aspect of the meal was the careful and attentive service that we received from our server, Michael. He was helpful, delightfully pleasant, and well-versed in the menu - he was more than capable of answering any question asked of him and we thank him for being the saving grace of our meal!
My husband and I went to Maine for my 55th birthday and I chose Grace for dinner. I was not disappointed. From the very special welcome from the hostess, who took the time to tell us the history of the old church building to Mike, our friendly Mainer server, the service was outstanding. The food was excellent! We started with a variety of raw oysters and then the ramp and lamb raviolis. Both were outstanding. My husband chose the halibut and I went with the crispy rabbit leg. We each had bites of each other's plates and were very happy. The pickled ramps with the rabbit were delicious! I highly recommend Grace for the atmosphere, good, and service.
Cool place in old Methodist Church. We were visiting Maine on vacation and this was our last dinner before returning home to Tampa. Menu is very creative with lots of locally sourced items. Drinks were excellent. Overall good and enjoyable meal. Couple of dishes were not as good as advertised, but the charcuterie, the catch of the day, the steak were all very good.
Food was incredible and ambiance was great! Fabulous bar right in the middle to just grab a drink, or grab a table on the first floor to watch the happenings in the open kitchen (“alter”) or grab a table in the loft upstairs to see it all!
The food was great,my ribeye steak was delicious. Honestly I really didn't enjoy the church setting one bit but given the choice of great food in a less enjoyable location vs so so food in a beautiful location, this is a great place.
Beautiful unique space, excellent and reasonably priced food and engaging, friendly staff. Can't beat it.
Love the atmosphere, food, and service at Grace. It never disappoints. Great for a special occasion. Bar is fantastic too:)
One of the coolest places I've eaten. Little pricey but worth it
The setting/experience was A+. Though it was a tad dark, we found that it did add to the charm. The food was absolutely delicious - probably the best char I have ever had!! However, the best part of the entire experience was our waiter Burt. He was outstanding and went above and beyond!!
A great find while vising Portland. The food was delicious and creative. Ambience unique. Our waiter, Burt, welcoming, engaging and informative.
Highly recommend Grace to anyone visiting Portland.
Very nice atmosphere. Unusual flavors in appetizers and main course. Great bar.
Wonderful dinner. Unique atmosphere.
Father day gift
Delicious food, very good service, incredible atmosphere. Would have appreciated a couple more menu options.
What a treat! The quality of food ,flavors, and freshness was excellent!
The food, service and atmosphere here is outstanding.
The food was great and our drinks were great, however the restaurant was blah. It is a converted church and we ate upstairs. You are spread out which is nice, but there is not a fun energy at the restaurant. It left us feeling blah and ready to get out and go somewhere else for dessert, despite the food being very good.
We loved our evening at Grace! Not only was the service impeccable, friendly, and experienced with the menu (8 years?!?) but the other guests were very pleasant as well. We went on a special occasion and expected a high bill with food and drinks, but our bill was roughly $50 less than I had planned on which was great. The plates were beautifully presented. I ate my duck prosciutto so fast I wasn’t able to take a photo! I cannot wait to come back.
Grace was great. Service and dinner was outstanding. The ambience is amazing in the old church. Very cool place. Menu is eclectic. Only downside is they need to work on dessert choices. Not many options. My wife is a big dessert person but was left disappointed.
This was our 47th anniversary so we wanted something really special. Grace exceeded our expectations. Service and food couldn’t have been better. The only thing that we felt on the downside, tables were too close together for private conversation. Next time we’ll ask for the balcony .
My husband and I always enjoy a meal at Grace when in Portland. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and helped me pick from the large assortment of charcuterie and cheeses; we got exactly what we wanted and it was superb.
The breast of duck was perfectly cooked and well sauced, we also enjoyed a side of green beans, again perfectly cooked and seasoned.
I ordered the 3 lemon dessert which was OK but could have used a bit more of the lemon sauce, since the cake base is a bit dry but overall worth trying.
The hostess was very accomodating, since she was going to seat us on the upper level and I am not very happy with heights of any kind - she expressed that "glad that I said something" and immediately seated us on the main level of the restaurant.
Awesome time. Great food. Even better service.
The service was amazing. The menu can be a bit challenging if you aren't a super foody but the waitress took the time to explain everything and offer suggestions. Overall a fun experience - will definitely recommend!
The decor is great, such a beautiful spot! We all had hangar steak but each ordered a different level of doneness and all were correct. I would definitely recommend for a special dinner.
Incredible! A truly unique menu and dining experience. Grace is a stand out even for the competitive Portland dining scene. Highly recommended!
The lamb ravioli was amazing. The duck breast was good but the sauce was a bit sweet. We really enjoyed the crispy rabbit. Dessert (lemon corn bread) was not that great.
Disappointing compared to previous visits. Not sure Grace represents great value for money, and dessert especially was poor.
Very beautiful interior. Menu is not traditional so we did not order food. Good friendly service.
It was our first time at Grace and it won't be our last. The staff and the food was amazing.
Very good food. Excellently done. A very unique atmosphere. Totally enveloping. A great place.
Great atmosphere. The food was outstanding. Great service.
Excellent cuisine in a tastefully repurposed old church. Our sercer, Bart was a true professional.
Matt was a great brand ambassador! Food was absolutely amazing! The location is uber-hip and perfect! I cannot wait to come back!
We have never been disappointed at Grace! Food , service and atmosphere are all outstanding!
My husband and I have eaten at Grace four or five times over the past five years or so. We've never had a bad experience. The food has always been delicious and the servers have always been attentive and helpful. I appreciate the fact that the kitchen is open as I enjoy watching the chefs practice their craft. My favorite part of the restaurant is its ambiance, however. There's something to be said of dining under a flying buttress!
The menu is interesting, but slightly limited, being in a great sea food area, would have thought there would be more offering. Otherwise the food was very good, service was excellent, setting was very interesting.
Once again Grace delivered.....a wonderful evening with superb food, great company, a beautiful spot......what more can I say.
