We had the 3 course Market lunch menu which is great value at $38. The cooking is delicious!
Gotham — still one of the top ten New York City restaurants, maintaining the highest levels of cuisine, service, and ambience it has had since it opened, and with chef Alfred Portale always overseeing the kitchen. It never disappoints. An added plus: affordable lunches throughout the year.
Very nice restaurant with good service and excellent food. Not over pretentious and comfortable. Wine list tends to be a little over the top for my taste as averages are on the high side.
The service and food was excellent. I loved the Seared Fois Gras.
We arrived a handful of minutes early for our reservation and were immediately offered a seat at the bar. Both the hostess and our bartender invited us to have drinks and to transfer the tab to our table when we were seated. Once seated the food was spectacular and the service was impeccable. The east/west oysters on the half share were fresh, large and briny. My lamb was perfectly prepared. My wife's request for three second courses (shellfish bisque, roasted butternut squash and wild mushroom risotto) rather than an entree was cheerfully and efficiently delivered. Not an inexpensive evening but the food quality and service level make Gotham Bar and Grill well worth the cost for a special evening out.
Thought the Sommelier was unattentive. Like she was too busy to help
Joseph- M'atradi was very professional and friendly!
Count on great service and excellent food. NYC quintessential restaurant
Great and professional service but it was a little slow.
The waitress was not attentive at all and we had to look around for her multiple times.
The food was great and the ambiance was ok.
We knew Rick, but understand he's in TX now. Just to let you know:
Dan was terrific.
Impressive and more than satisfying. Definitely on my list of must-eats.
Gotham never fails to offer a wonderful evening of service, ambience and good food. A chance to experience excellence without pretense.
Food of highest quality and presentation.
Service was inattentive, forgetful and distracted. This restaurant was always one of my favorites and it was a big disappointment at best.
Great! Delicious food and fantastically atmosphere!
This was our latest of maybe half a dozen visits to GB&G and we have yet to be disappointed. The restaurant is very attractive and conducive to conversation. Service is first rate. We started with the goat cheese tortellini special (excellent) seafood salad (outstanding) and baby kale salad (good but not special). For mains we had the rack of lamb (superb) Niman ranch pork (perfect) and halibut (very good). The wine list is overpriced and unexceptional but we found a recent vintage burgundy that suited us for a high, but not wholly unreasonable, price. With tax and tip it was $170/pp, which is on the high end even for food of this quality but not robbery. We expect to return often but this is not everyday dining.
Always excellent every time I am here. The fois gras is the best in the city!
Near perfection, as always. This is one of the few restaurants that seems too get better and better. It’s expensive, but reasonable compared to some of the other high end NYC restaurants.
The kale salad is a great addition to the menu. It’s not a place you get frequent often because the menu never changes but it’s good reliable food.
Everything about Gotham Grill is exceptional -- the cuisine, the ambiance, the service, and the bill.
As always Gothem is one of my all time favorites
I just celebrated my birthday and it was
Food and wine was terrific
An amazing classic. Still fantastic after all these years.
Restaurant was empty and they tried to sit us next to kitchen door at small table. Food was average at best. Overpriced. Would not recommend it. Will not return
Outstanding food - foie gras and pork belly we had as shared appetizers - they were superlative.
Dessert is creative and appropriately portioned. The pear souffle was beyond delicate - it was extraordinary. Wheelchair access is by no means optimal, but the side entry makes the main floor of the restaurant accessible for wheelchair users and my dining companion had no complaints. I note, however, that there is no accessible restroom (one must go down the stairs). The restroom, if one is able to get to it, is in dire need of renovation (and better standards of cleaning).
All of that said, this is the fourth time I have eaten there and it did not disappoint, I will go back for certain.
Food and Service was outstanding
one of the best restaurants in nyc for 30 years
a safe bet
Always great - One of New York’s best for more than 30 years
From the greeting to the exit an excellent experience.
thoroughly enjoyed . Food and service were exceptional.
Fantastic experience as always, you can always count on them to deliver.
The service was excellent and the food (strip steaks0 were cooked to order). Noise level was modest and I would recommend that this is as ideal for personal dining as well as business. I appreciate my wine being poured and not measured ( to me, that's a big deal).
Excellent food, lively atmosphere. Will definitely visit more often.
Food and drinks were spectacular
I have going to this restaurant for over 20 years and it never fails to deliver on great food!
Expensive but worth it. Everything was delicious. Service was a bit awkward at first but our waiter warmed up as the evening progressed.
Been enjoying Gotham since it opened 35 years ago. Just as fine as ever.
